disappointed with blondi (1 Viewer)

It does look a little funny to me also. But I will still buy the set anyway.

This forum is great entertainment! I love the dog analysis! What is next?

“Looking at the mud and dirt on K&C's latest Sherman, it appears as though the mud was caused by fossilized clay or dirt when this particular model only saw action in the Ardennes Forest and as any archeologist knows the clay and dirt there is not fossilized, thus the stains would be a red color not the brown that is depicted…….”

Seriously, sometimes this place goes a little too far.

Imagine if you were the manufacter! You had better be thick skinned

or have an inhouse therapist!:eek::D

Andy comes up with a clever idea the Eagles Nest, complete with tables and

chairs and waiters and a patio really nice idea for a diorama......what is

everyone talking about......hey that dog looks terrible!

So much for that idea!:D

Now its fine for everyone to express their opinions. I'm not saying anything

about that, and I'm not trying to stick up for Andy he can certainly handle

himself. I'm just saying probably the last thing he thought was going to be

trouble with this new release was Blondi!:D:rolleyes:

Guys,

this is what this forum is for. I am a K&C fan and I call myself and mean it a friend of Andy's. I am also a G. Shep life long lover, so I pay attention to releases that include them. In plain words, in my opinion, I am disappointed in this dog.

And I think Andy probably appreciates the honesty.

In my opinion, you can call this dog anything you'd like, but a German Shepherd it does not represent in my eyes.

Anyone who claims this to be a "rivet counter" is out to lunch in my opinion and I will go as far to say that there is not one photograph in the history of the Breed that looks like this Blondi!!

I must agree with my friend Tom on this one. I have been around German Shepherds all my life. They are strong of body and mind, faithful, intelligent, ever watchful dogs. They have lots of stamina, are very caring, they love their owners and can be trusted with our lives.

Now, this Blondi looks like the saddest pet I ever saw. If it were mine I'd rush it to the vet.

I understand the Eagle's Nest is a terrific model and K&C deserves to be praised because of it. That does not mean Blondi looks ok. I think K&C should really make a new version of it.

All the best,

Uthred

Sorry, I thought the purpose of this forum was to discuss toy soldiers, not the AKC standard that toy soldier manufactures need to meet when creating dog figures.

It is one thing to say you are disappointed in the dog and quite another to look into the history of the breed and breakdown the merits of how that compares to this figure.

I assure you that I am not out to lunch and on the contrary, the in-depth analysis that people have put into the criticism of this figure is “rivet counting” or in this case “fur calculation”.

I assure you my problem is not "fur calculation". What I really dislike about Blondi is its demeanor. It does not look like a German Shepherd to me or anyone else who has ever been around these wonderful dogs!

Yes and guys I'm not being critical of anyone being unhappy with Blondi.

As I stated, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and this is the place to

post them.

I just thought it was funny that Blondi seemed to be the focus on this

entire new release.:D

you know how it is, everybody has different buttons that get pushed!!!!!!

Boy this place is a lot of fun. You guys are a lot of fun. Fur calculators I love the term. BTW Panzer Ace is a good friend of mine or rather I like to think. Be gentle with him.

I was a little disappointed too but bought the set. If anyone remembers a lot of people thought the Figarti German Shepherd was too big. A lot of people being familiar with the American Breed did not know about the Schutzen Breed The males grow up to 150 lbs. So we have gone full circle:):)

KV,

Of course we are friends! I missed you yesterday; I thought for sure I would see you!

I have been working a lot on the new shop and was plumb tuckered out. Have you seen Sierras' new location? Lots of great places too eat around there.

Yup, I have seen the new Sierra digs and I know the new area well. Kathy and I have a few favorite restaurants on the same block. It is perfect for us, I can go buy tanks while 3 doors down there is a boutique with Prada and that the like for her. The price of a trip to Sierra is going to go way up when I start to add in her shoes and hand bags in the same excursion!

Easy Tom, let us just chalk this up to a mis-read/ and let it go. Both of you whom I know. Before a whole bunch of deletions get started:(

I think that people are upset about Blondi because the dog is a central piece of the whole Berghoff diorama. I one of the waiters looked weird, it would not have been a big deal. And as bad as the figure looks in pictures, it is worse when you look and handle the real thing. I also got the little black dog from the Streets of Hong Kong series and I can tell you that they did a better job with that. The little mutt looks far more dignified and menacing than the German Shepartd,

Tom, no problem, and remember I'm a dog lover from way back, had 5 at

one time.

Now I just have Boo @ 135lbs he has the weight of 5!:D

If you are a shepard guy, and you feel this is a poor representation of that

great breed, I completely understand.:)

KV,

No misread here, I think the posts are pretty clear and stand on their own.

Oh you tried KV.........

No misread here either, and I did not write anything I would not say in person.

I actually wasn't ever going to post my opinion as I had it from the day I saw the photos on the release. I do get excited when you get a "different" type of set and was looking forward to it. No big deal, not every set is going to be perfect and trust me, I am by no means a rivet counter, I mix 1/32, 1/30, etc and if something is missing a "bolt" somewhere, no biggie! I guess this release was just about one of the first ones that actually disappointed me personally and I just posted my 2 cents on the subject!

Hey KV quit talking about food! I am on a diet and have lost 14lbs in

14 days. I have been quite successful in the past last time I lost 40 lbs in a

month an a half got down to 206!

This time I started at 262 when I was mistaken for a bowling ball and found

myself 1/2 down lane 32.:D

So no more talk about great places to eat!:D
