Dispatches are up! (2 Viewers)

Thanks for the light number of retirements. This will aloow me to pick up the jettys, the bridge and the stable building that i have kept putting off and off. Anybody else in the same boat?

A speer figure was done with the tour of inspection set a while ago but, I would like to see a version in his grey suit he almost always wore and, a late war version in brown trenchcoat would also be welcome. I would like to see another Goeballs figure as the one with the microphone was a bit too restrictive when being used with the rest of the series. julius streicher would be another prominant figure from that period to replicate
Mitch

Agree Mitch. Its surprising that some key figures of the regime have not been produced whereas others have had several versions released - Hitler, obviously, and Sepp Dietrich for example. I'd imagine they'll get around to it eventually - given the popularity of the range. Carlin.

Hi Chris

The new 3 Kingdoms sub-range within the IC series is possibly one of K&C's most promising new releases ... Just my opinion of course. Glad if I may share some background info ...

This 3 Kingdoms sub-range covers the period from @ 220-280AD .. and differs from earlier K&C releases depicting the Qing Emperor Qian Long of the 1700s period. The "Romance of the 3 Kingdoms" is one staple of Chinese classic literature and covers a warring period following the breakup of ancient China's Han dynasty until subsequent reunification. It's study in the East is equivalent to the study in the West of the later Roman period from Caesar's wars until the breakup of the Roman empire.

The recent revival of popular interest stems from John Woo's 2008 two part movie titled Red Cliff, which depicts just one, but an important climatic battle between the 3 Kingdoms. The movie was followed by a 95 episode, 72 hour TV mini-series titled Three Kingdoms produced in 2010. Although dialoged in classical Mandarin, a superbly translated English dvd version is now available, I believe in Hong Kong (and on YouTube).

Only 5 earlier 3 Kingdoms figures have been released IC036 & 037 and IC043 to 045 depicting some of the principal characters. This latest Dispatch offers a couple of new infantry and the main heralds of the 3 states.

Hope you find useful.

Bests.
OD

Thanks OD for this useful info, this era is all very confusing to me, but getting to know a little about it bit by bit. Really coming up to speed collecting K&C IC series, lots more to follow I hope, cheers, Robin.

I too like the new LAH building facade and look forward to the building extensions that will come out later (hopefully in the next couple of months). I was just about to pull the trigger and purchase the first editions of it on eBay (I’m glad I didn’t). Of course now I have to figure out how to make the whole display work with the LAH Arch I was planning to buy. btw- this is a "fun" issue I'm going to have to deal with. ;)

While I understand some are disappointed with this month’s “Dispatches”. As a newbie, I tend to concentrate on the retire part of the dispatches list rather than the new releases. It gives me a chance to prioritize my purchases with my monthly budget. Personally, I’m glad the figures from the range I collect are not listed on the “retire” list this month. It gives me another month to catch up without worrying that the items I want/need will be out of stock.

Look forward to the RAF jeep also but, hope we don't have another female driver. A pilot would be far more interesting for a change
Mitch

I will second your point & back it up by purchasing it if it comes with a pilot!

Tally Ho,

OD

I do find it very very useful OD....Good Lookin out!! Sounds like it echoes a little what Brett was saying but sounds like you have a bit more academic knowledge as well. Great jumping off point for me to do some research and make a decision where I want to go with it.

Have you collected IC figures or at least familiar with their history??? I vividly recall standing in Mike Russo's shop and in awe of the rows upon rows of marching Chinese warriors he had on display there- this was IC 01- whatever. It was back in 2000-01 timeframe. I assumed that those figures were the precursors for the newer "orange" releases.

Think we'll ever see some Huns for these guys to fight???

Thanks a ton!!

Dispatch day is always a good day. Thanks Rob!:smile2: It's great to see the new GI's advancing through the bocage. The ones I will be getting for sure are the shouting pointing NCO (DD182), the kneeling pointing figure (187), and the GI advancing with bayonet in hand.....this figure will look great approaching an unsuspecting enemy. I like the machine gin team but I'm good w/ DD149 in that regard.

Regarding retirements, I'm lucky to already have all the DD beach storming British sets. There are some classic figures in those sets- among K & C's best. Same goes for the Canadian DD sets that are being sent off. So thankfully I wasn't hit hard there.

What a nice release for the Son's of the Empire collectors. I always think of one of Gordon's dioramas he had at the Westcoaster when I see these figures. This range displays particularly well.

SOTE & IC well there goes my wallet & multiples needed too, dam, thanks Rob, cheers, Robin.

I love dispatches time - but it is a case of the agony and the ecstasy. I hope that things are released for me but it is also a huge relief when they are not. I can enjoy other people's excitment, roll my eyes at the comments of people who seemingly are never happy and discuss with everyone in between. Another month to chip away at the ALH and NE!

Thanks Andy and Rob!

A pleasure to help guys:smile2:

Really glad for you LAH, Sons of Empire and D Day collectors out there. Me , I'm very pleased with the Bocage releases and will pick these off one by one. As Joe said I didn't get hit with the retirements as I have all the Brits and Canadians too, so a good Dispatch all round for me.

Rob

I'll be getting these. Glad to see the standard bearer and buglar. -- Al

Despite the fact that Skinner's Horse didn't carry standards at this period, (only five Indian cavalry regiments did) and the Union flag was never carried by cavalry? I know the response will be "They look good", "The customers want them" and "You don't have to buy them" but these silly inaccuracies are very irritating. Trooper

Thanks for the info, Trooper.
Something to think about now.

quiet dispatches but some nice sets across the ranges though but, to be expected with chicago next month. standouts are the new LAH bulding and, the announcement that new side structures will be released that means I need to get four!!! New Adolf will also be on the list if you can never have enough jeeps or Tigers then, you can never have enough Adolf's!!!

Not too bad on the disco's either. Best US trooper is the one holding the dagger for me!!
Mitch

When were the LAH side structures announced ? Missed it somewhere....

See I thought i only got the arch way wrong (Italian), you mean to say the flag as well should not be with Skinner's horse, I am going to lose sleep tonight after getting this so wrong. Cheers, Robin.

in the speel about the main building it said side additions will come later
Mitch

Great, Gives newer collectors a chance on getting these and those of us that have the previous LAH042/043 buildings options to add on.

I was thinking the same thing if the sides are similar enough they could enlarge the older version also to make a larger marching or parade backdrop
Mitch

Been hoping for more LAH buildings a big reason i didn't go chasing TCS LAH buildings, these will look brilliant all together with the older released ones.

Good decission not to go for the new TCS LAH building (Wilhelmstrasse). The quatlity is very bad. If the box wouldn't have been damaged during transport it would be stored away already.

Trooper, I hadn't realized that the Skinner's didn't carry the Union flag, but I have seen them with Regimental colors. Is this a time period question? Would the figures be correct with Regimental colors or are the standards just incorrect altogether? -- Al

The issue of standards was discontinued after the Indian Mutiny. The only regiments to carry them at the turn of the century (the period depicted by these figures) were the Madras Bodyguard, the 2nd Lancers (Gardner's Horse), the 14th P.o.W.'s Own Cavalry (Scinde Horse), the 16th Light Cavalry and the 17th Queen Victoria's Own Cavalry (Poona Horse). No regiment ever carried a Union flag, the regulations for 1840, (the last to be issued prior to the cessation of standards) states that the Sovereign's or First Standard would be of crimson silk with the rose, thistle and shamrock combined with the crown over them in the centre with the motto "Dieu et mon droit" below. A cartouche in the first and fourth corners bearing the regimental crest and a similar cartouche in the second and third corners bearing the number of the regiment on a ground of the facing colour. The Second and Third Standards to be of regimental facing colour with the regimental badge in the centre or the rank of the regiment in gold roman numerals on a crimson ground within a wreath of roses, thistles and shamrocks. The motto of the regiment underneath, The crest on a red ground to be in the first and fourth corners and the rose, thistle and shamrock conjoined on a red ground within the second and third.
Skinner's Horse did carry standards at an earlier period but not after the Mutiny. Union flags were only carried by infantry, never by cavalry. Hope this helps. Trooper
