Lack of display space has always been an issue for collectors. A few years back I converted Two large cabinets into display areas, simply by removing the doors and modifying the shelves where necessary.

Here's a photo of the top Two shelves of my largest cabinet that measures 210cm x 100cm x 60 cm (approx 6' 11" x 3.3' x 2'). I had to climb a ladder to take the photo and you can usually only see the underside of the Lancaster from ground level, but at least it's on display and not taking up to much room.

It would be interesting to see the variety of ways collectors display their models etc, making the most of the space they have.

A quick pic of the larger cupboard with doors removed. I adjusted the shelf spacings to improve viewing and added support to the shelves for extra weight of polystone etc.

Another cabinet converted for display. I only had to remove the doors, the shelves were strong enough and spacing ok for display use.

I obtained a large base from Treefrog a few years back. It used to cover a dining table size Vietnam display in this room, but proved to be to large. I've since cut it into smaller sizes to add interest to the new cabinet displays.

This cabinet hid the Power Board behind closed doors, it's now on display as well ha ha.

Another pic of my Hobby Room/3rd Bedroom, this room was originally a single garage measuring approx 6m x 3m (20' x 10'). The cupboard in the corner hides the hot water system, there used be a space between that cabinet and the end cabinet where you could put another fridge or freezer. I don't need another fridge and installed some shelves between the Two cabinets that made more display space for a castle etc.

Here's a photo from the other end of the room. My hobby space takes up about half of the original single garage, leaving approx 3m x 3m (10' x 10") space that serves as the 3rd bedroom, please note bottom edge of Queen sized bed in pic. Three open shelf display cabinets serve as a room divider, one of my rare inspired ideas

I intend to restrict my display to this room, I have plenty of sets in storage to go on ebay.

Some of my TCS and TGM collection, I still like these 'larger' 1/30 sets, plenty of opening hatches etc.

Some more TCS sets, including a Tiger tank...with Wittman.

Plus Two King Tigers, the rare 'Porsche' turret version was difficult to get.

And of course some K & C Command sets in the mix, including one of several Panzer Meyer sets I have/had.

And no, that's not dirt on the base of that cabinet, it's rust. My house is between an Estuary and the Beach (Coral Sea), so no shortage of rust around here.

I also have some 'small' 1/30 scale sets, here's some JJD mixed with 'smaller' K & C and TGM sets.

OK, that's about it, it's amazing how many models you can display in a relatively small space.

Well done mate, looks nice and neat and organised.
After my divorce and the Ex and her kids threw my collection in boxes been too scared to go through them all a lot of damage.
But slowly getting it all displayed again, amazes me why women are such vindictive.....................

Matt.....you have everything nicely displayed. Space is definitely an issue for us collectors, but it appears you've mastered it.

I use steel wire rack storage shelving from Amazon (about 45 x 15 inches W x L). Then I added LED lights to each shelf. These racks come in various heights with adjustable shelves.

Thats how I did it.

Thanks Wayne, I do like things 'organised'.

Relationships are tempting and I dated a number of women since my wifes death. However I haven't bothered getting back into online dating since Covid, and I have to say I'm much happier for it. The s e x is the hook but that usually comes with a bag full of craziness

Hey Carlos, those LED strips really make your displays pop, I'll have to get some for my shelves to reduce the shadows cast by my downlights.

Well you certainly are making good use of your limited space. That British bomber is a knock out piece. Like you, TCS find a spot in my collection, some very good items that they have come up with. The bane of our hobby, if it’s not space, it’s money. The worsening exchange rate here in Australia does not bode well for the future either. Robin.
