Eagle Design 1/30 Panzer III (1 Viewer)

Mike, that's a very sharp/clean looking model. Looking fwd to my DAK arrival. I think this series at the price given will be a game changer. Like you, would like to see a whole range of releases. BTW, don't care what the HBF comments are.

There have been several hull numbers released (DAK version) and at the price, lends itself to dio possiblities. Chris

The HBF comments were about the newly released King Tiger and not the Panzer III. The Panzer III received high marks on HBF, as well.

I was very impressed and very satisfied with the "Eagle Design" Panzer III and the Panzer II.....Excellent models both.....That said after looking at the King Tiger photos I think that I will pass on that one.....I do not like the way the paint looks on either model and there is some question regarding the scale....1:30th ??????...The photos of the King Tiger are a bit disappointing as far as I can tell.

The King Tiger is probably not made by Eagle Design; as it is made of polystone. The scale is 1/27, the same size as the TCS King Tigers.

I will Definitely PASS on this King Tiger.:(....Very poorly done IMO.....If something is released in the quality level like the ED Panzer III 's....THEN...Count me in.

I find it truly amazing that none of the major Toy Soldier manufacturers have made an accurate 1/30 scale King Tiger. The most accurate King Tigers in my collection are the 1/24 VsTank model and the 1/35 Minichamps model. K&C made a Krupp (Porsche) turret 1/30 scale KT; but it was inaccurate. No Zimmerit, all the Krupp turret KT's had Zimmerit. Also the tracks, sprockets etc. left much to be desired in terms of accuracy. The K&C Henschel KT had the same issues but in addition it was overscale. The TCS KT's are way oversize and disproportionate. The Henschel turret version has many issues i.e. the turret clearance of the rear deck is too large.
I had hoped that after the excellent Panther G that Figarti would release a King Tiger; but alas it was not to be!

Eagle Design 1/30 Panzer III winter version. Its painting is like FL winter Panzer IV.And it seem solve the problem of track.

I really doubt that the spare track lengths would have winterketten extensions mounted on them.

They actually did. Google Winterketten and you'll see pics of StuG, Panzer III, Panzer IV, Sig33B mounted this way.

Another good looking model from Eagle Design. I'd like to see them do some German SdKfz 250 and 251 halftracks or a StuG.

YES....Completely Agree.....This Eagle Design's Winter Panzer III looks excellent and at $135 it is indeed an EXCELLENT VALUE:salute::.....I just purchased an Desert Version turret #112 on e-bay....No hassle and rather fast ship......I wish that they would do a grey Stug III Ausf D (short barrel) and a winter version with winterketten tracks.....I am hoping for an Eastern Front Winter Tiger to be done as well.

I had a couple of ED Panzer IIIs modified to be from the 15th Panzer Regiment, 11th Panzer Division during the fighting in the bend of the River Chir.

11th Panzer had just refit in preparation for attacking as part of Winter Storm, von Manstein's attempt to relieve Stalingrad. Instead, the 5th Guards Tank Army attacked and penetrated across the River Chir. Only the 15th Panzer Regiment and the Division's Kradschutzen Battalion recently upgraded with Sd. Kfz. 250s were available.

These Panzers were designed to look like they have seen about two weeks of straight fighting in December 42 to January 43. One design choice was whether to use the traditional 2 digit, monochrome "stenciled" numbering, or go with the later 3 digit two tone white outlining red. As you can see, I went with the later. Assuming the change was made during the November refit.

I have always loved the Panzer III that has the stowage piled on the back that almost looks like a rampart. Of course, it will look great with tank riders. This one has the field modification rack on it:

These Panzers depict those from the 4th Kompanie, 2nd Platoon.

Here is the platoon mate:

This one I will tie the storage on for a little variation. Also, the unit symbols are slightly different to show they were painted in the field.

Very Nice:smile2:.....I really Like these conversions:salute:::salute:::salute::.....Hopefully we will see more grey AFV's from Eagle Design.
