Congrats to Portugal. I don't think many of us expected this result. I know I didn't, especially after CR couldn't continue. After the game some commentators had harsh criticisms regarding Portugal's game plan, but I don't agree with that. France had to expect this style of play, but they just couldn't find the net. France seemed to be tightly wound and uncertain at times. Perhaps they were feeling the pressure of an entire nation build as the game wore on. Hats off to Portugal's coach for changing tactics late in the game and bringing in a forward. Btw, am I the only one who thought France's goalie was late to react to Eder's shot? In any case, the defense backed off, and he got a skipping shot to go. This moment was instantly imprinted into the memories of Portugal's fans who have been waiting so many years for this. I also thought Portugal's goalie had a wonderful game. CR apparently gave a rousing half time speech to the club, keeping his chin up as a captain should and not sulking. Life is so strange sometimes....I recall teams from Portugal who I thought were much more dangerous who couldn't get this far. Congrats to France for leaving it all on the field. Their victory over Germany was impressive, and we have not heard the last of the French side.
