EB has me raising my eyebrows, too - and as much as I wish anyone willing to take a chance and make figures well, I can't help but think to myself he might be a trailblazer as far as price goes. And I see the creep in prices - I know with the costs involved some is inevitable - I find myself walking away from more and more nice sets that I'd love to add to my collection.
But with the storage problems I am having with my collection of over 50 years, I can't justify handing out money at those prices. I might be able to afford it, but call me cheap, I just can't see it for plastic figures. One of the reasons I never got in to metals was the price (and I grew up playing with plastic...). I can see where those who convert and sell have no problem and I don't know that x-Force is too out of bounds, but I remember when their "Mini" ACW set came out they were, what? $16 US? Now a set is $29 and not too much time has passed. Admittedly, these figures are supposed to be a more suitable scale but that's an awful big jump in a short time.
Again, I don't know I won't buy some of these figures. The Army deal is a bit more attractive. I never could justify buying the Army deal on the Persians in spite of the fact I "need" them to oppose my humongous Army of Conte Spartans in all three colors (that are falling apart in spite of my best efforts to store them safe and secure). However, I do think a comment here and there on price escalation is warranted to remind our producer friends that our pockets are not bottomless. I would hate to see any of the producers over-reach and lose their shirts on a deal - we lose their contributions to the hobby. And we've seen that in our time with others who are no longer in the business.
