Eyes on WWII GERMANS (1 Viewer)

Im with you,you have to be VERY careful what you say on these FL Threads............

And rightly so! There is a fine line between legitimate and silly. I could ask 1000 questions in the threads you are posting in which would make you shake your head. Well guess what, same here!

The original Question was " I dont have any FL figures yet.. But does anybody think the eyes are too big on the figures ?
Thanks"

whats wrong with that, some people are a little over protective of FL i thought it was a ok Question.............again......

Hi Daruss,

I haven't seen any FL WWII figures "in the flesh", but I have seen some of their earliest NAP releases in another collector's collection, and I was able to study them closely....my opinion on those Bavarian figures was that they were the most stunning military miniatures I had seen to date (barring Aeroart) across all of the typical categorical concerns, including proportion and eyes. They produce strikingly beautiful figures.

I hope to some day add some FL figures to my collection....I have my fingers crossed for the announcement of their next line.....this is an exciting manufacturer who, even in these incredibly difficult economic times, continues to expand. That really says something.

Sorry you got flamed by others for asking an innocent question.

Peace - Joe

Completely Agree......Daruss.....You will not regret purchasing FL Stalingrad....I have most of their figures and I must say they are superb....The 4 figure set of german figures "combat assault" is a good place to start.....Enjoy:)

Hi, I must ask since you don't own any of these fine figures on what you are basing your statement that that the eyes are to big ? I would suggest to you that you take some money and order one of these fine figures from First Legions web site, then place it next to Figures in your current collection of WWII germans. Take a long hard look at the difference between the two then you will be in a position to make an educated statement as concerning the quality of First legions figures . If you still think it warrants such a statement compared to the others then post it again , I'm sure once you see them close up you will have nothing to say but ...I WANT MORE !! I'm sorry but It is always people who don't own First legion products that make such statements and its getting pretty ****ing old.;) At least to me it . Happy collecting Gebhard

I don't think my response was overly protective of First Legion . I just find it strange that collectors who don't own a particular Manufacture or even collect the era from which the for mentioned Figure belongs to would just start a new thread as such. I'm a big TS collector and yes I think at the current time First Legion has in my opinion the best product on the market . I collect several others also and I'll be honest mostly because FL does not cover the period or theater of which i have an interest at present . That being said I don't feel the need for instance to post on say the Gloss threads criticizing products for this or that .. think about it what good can come from it . I for one welcome comments from fellow collectors in regards to anything from price, sculpting , Painting etc... Id just like to say its better for me personally coming from someone who owns or has at least held the product in their hand . That way they at least are least in a position to have an informed opinion . Id like to also say this response is not directed to any one person solely but when someone makes a remark of the FL thread i check out some of their other post to see where they are coming from and to see if we have a common interest for possible further correspondence . It always interesting to see that when it comes to posting on the FL thread some only come out to post when there is a controversy or something negative being said  . I must say this is an open forum and they have that right . Its just that for me it is very detracting from what i hoped this was all about . The love of the Hobby and to share information with like minded people about the manufactures we enjoy whomever they may be. Happy Collecting:) Gebhard

Ownership is not a requirement to comment on a manufacturer or to compare different manufacturers. Discussion is often the precursor to making a buy/not buy decision. However, it is true as you say that there are a few individuals, and only a few, that seem to only attack FL as there are a few that routinely attack K&C. I think it is also true that there are a few, and only a few, defenders of FL who over-react to even the hint of criticism of FL pieces. There are lots of criticisms on the K&C, Figarti and CS threads that do not elicit this type of defensive reaction.

I don't know why the question about the eyes came up - the eyes on the FL figures I have seen in person and in photos have have only ever looked normal. But I believe it was a legitimate question from a person who does not appear to have a history of attacking FL. The question may seem silly to some, but there was probably a reason for the question, and it was a question - not an accusation.

Some people have said they are tired of the same old attacks. Well, I am tired of the same old defensive reactions.

If it continues, I may be forced to conduct a comparison of eye measurement ratios between FL, K&C, Figarti, HB and CS figures.:D:DAnd nobody wants that.

Well said Terry!

The figures and vehicles from the various manufacturers will ultimitely have to stand on their own merits. Becoming defensive at the first sign of criticism or misunderstanding merely betrays insecurity. Discussion doesn't always involve opinions that are in agreement. This is where our debating skills come in and we attempt to demonstrate why we hold the position we do. Sometimes people will change their mind ,sometimes not, and that's OK.

This seemed like a harmless question to me that could have been answered with an opinion of yes or no by the owners of the figures.

Great post indeed Terry. There's nothing more to be said except "the eyes have it.":D

Thanks for the responses friends! Now, if i ever get any coin again, i can start purchasing FL!

Never let it be said that I have a spark of originality or that I am not a copycat :D

I think this is a fantastic post

I agree. We need German soldiers with glasses. Hardly any manufacturer makes soldiers with glasses - I think that is a big mistake.

Matt: you can do it. :D

Phantom Warrior please read my post again as I never said ownership was necessary to make a comment on a manufactures product and thanks to the rest of you for proving my point :)

It might be enlightening to hear the source of this concern. Something seen or read here or elsewhere? I don't have a horse in this race, but I would question how anyone could have serious issues with the size of "eyes" on a 1/30 or 1/32 figure. Even with a magnifying glass you can barely see them on a figure that small.

Does anyone make a soldier figure in 1:30 with glasses? I would think having a clear glass look would be difficult to make?

Terry

K & C did (WS 39) but they weren't clear glasses, to my recollection.
