Hi
Having just spent an hour looking at the HMS Victory pixs with my jaw locked to my computer desk I need to get a little moan off my chest.

No way will I be able to afford a model like the HMS Victory. I am a poor relation of this wonderful hobby but I do like the figures that go with the ship.

Having already asked this question I'll ask again - Will the figures be made available to the poor folk to purchase (so we can make some rigging out of wool and pretend we have the ship????) or are the lucky few (God bless you all) have the pleasure of viewing such a wonderful model/figures.

I thank you

Frank...

I can see why you would want the figures. I would guess they would not be coming out as a seperate release so, I think you would have to just admire from afar. It would not be fair IMO for those who bought this ship to then see the exact figures sold for a fraction of the cost to the rest of the collectors. The 'shock and awe' sets are IMO the ultimate SL and, would detract from owning the set and, probably reduce future sales of these type of pieces and, the kudos of owning one should sections be made readily available.

Figarti may release similar but, I hope they do not submit to your request. It would be like buying the railgun for £1600 and seeing the crew being sold much cheaper for those who want to make a rail gun themselves. Not a good marketing stategy.

Hi Mitch

I think your comments are very sound and I do not disagree with you. but from my side of the table, is the hobby becoming a touch of those that can afford the boats and trains and the rest who can "observe from afar"
Can the little people not have a little share of the pie. Would it not be to the advantage of the company making said figures, more profit from the sales

I stress that your comments are realistic and hold good ground - I just like the seamen - I can't afford the boat - I can but dream - Thanks for your feed back - Take care. ;)

Frank...

I fully understand where you are coming from and have repeated such to manufacturers and posters on here that I think although we are in a hobby which has prices which are quite high that some are pricing too high for the benefit of the hobby or, the majority of collectors.

It always seem more sensible to me to sell more at a reasonable price than fewer at a higher price but, this is a hobby not ran on the whole for the collectors interest or benefit but, for the producers benefit which, is the way in all consumrables.

My point was that in relation to this specific ship and set whether 20 people or two people buy it I would say from their perspective it would be somewhat a slap in the face if half of the set was released for less.

I think price etc is deemed by some on this site as a dirty word which should not be raised. I am not one of those and as I said I applaud Figarti for showing many collectors that large intricate sets can be made at a cost which, is affordable to the majority of collectors (I am talking about the train releases not Victory). Obviously, the ship was a very special set and, maybe Figarti may return with smaller diorama type release similar to the Bismarck AA gun in this genre

Hi Mitch

Thanks for the over view - I suppose you are right - At that I'll call it a draw
(Manchester slang for its over) and I'll move on. I enjoyed our little banter so till next time - take care ;)

Frank

Frank...

Seeing that you are a manchester city fan (at least the right side of the city) I understand but, after a dirty tackle on our Ben Arfa we will take three points from you next time.

Look forward to speaking with you again

Honestly, I can't imagine that anyone who bought the ship would care if the figures were sold seperately; at least not anyone I would care to know very well. The ship is the shock and awe, the figures are simply accessories. I feel sure no one is buying the ship for the figures and in fact releasing them seperately would make more bodies available for each Victory.

What is that supposed to mean ''nobody I would want too know'' What a silly comment. You are paying your money for the whole thing ship and figures. The ship with the greatest respect to Figarti can be bought and made in a number of places (should you wish so) the figures obviously would be harder to come by IMO.

Its a similar thing to saying a release is limited to 100 and then doing say 150 or 200 its just not the thing to do. Release figures but, not the same figures that come with the ship as that is part of the exclusivity which, was mentioned and politely accepted by Frank as an alternative explanation.

Cannot for the life of me see how this could make anyone a lesser person for wanting to know. Dear me!

Why wouldn't the figures be made available separately???

Thinking about it, the entire ship with figures is $6500. That is very reasonable if not "cheap" for a museum grade model like that.

The cost of creating each figure is quite expensive so I would imagine the smart folks at Figarti would make most of those figures available and maybe even launch a range if the sales are good enough.

Well Mitch, I humbly suggest that we each are entitled to pick our mates for whatever characteristics we choose to apply. I personally would not have much in common with someone would bought the ship and was bothered if the figures were subsequently released seperately and other things being equal, would have less interest in knowing that person. It has nothing to do with whether they are objectively lesser or not, just not someone who's perspective and values I happen to share. It is really that simple. You may feel differently but I don't recall labeling any of your notions silly.

You seem to think the figures are a key part of this release. I think they are interesting but comparatively trivial and certainly on a per ship cost of production basis, they are trivial. Obviously a difference in perspective that matters little. Or is that a silly notion too?:)

I know many collectors who hold this opinion and, have seen opinions about such issues on here from sevaral US collectors and was the reason why I raised the subject to Frank. I am sorry should you feel labelled but, that seems to arise quite a lot from a small number of collectors but, IMO should you base your view of how well you may or may not get on with another person in such subjective terms then you are labelling that mythical person in your own mind and not offering them an opportunity to overcome that lable. I myself, and, I only can speak for myself, find that silly.

If that is the worst thing you are allegedly labelled as you have had a decent run. It was not an insult it was a comment or observation on what you said. As mentioned before on here it is at the end of the day all about opinions.

That sounds about right but, as long as post are on an open forum both you and I know they will be commented on either positively or negatively. Its the heat of being in the kitchen

Any time, any where.;)

Sounds like the start of an old advert for milk chocolate!!!!!!

Hey extra sets would be a good idea. There is a lot of room on that ship! Bloody thing looks deserted! One buys the ship because it is there not because of the figures. You had to be there to see this ship! The figures are nothing, though nice.

I for one would love to build a sailing top fight with Marines.

Incidentally the shipping adds $1500 to the price. It is anywhere in the world to your front door. No discounts for picking it up yourself though.:(

Just to clarify, the total cost delivered to your door is $6500. I assume you were saying that it cost $5,000 plus the $1,500 shipping.

Thats probably so but, the whole reply to Frank was that add on sets are no problem but, would not think releasing the exact ones on the ship now to be fair to the collector who puts out a substantial amount of cash. Thats my opinion and a few others who buy what can be called exclusive editions or strictly limited
