Figarti hompepage down (1 Viewer)

No they are not, nowhere does figarti, kc, beau geste, Thomas gunn indicate they are pewter, where are you getting this?

I remember probably 3 years ago I asked Andy from K&C at the Texas show what his figures were made of. White metal / pewter was his answer.
If anyone had a K&C figure with a paint chip, The underlying metal was of a shiny ,hard material. Pewter !

Not pewter. White metal is a mix of scrap alloys.

Thanks Paul. That is exactly correct. I have only heard 1 manufacturer claim they used lead free pewter and that was britains. There is a lot of assumption about white metal. Figarti for instance used zinc alloy when Rick was in charge per Rick.

I suspect they are made from Silver...based on current prices :wink2:

I remember when Conte used to boast about using pewter, the implication being that he was the only manufacturer who used pewter and that it was superior to what others were using. But this was RC speaking so who knows? But I can say his figures are very durable w/ virtually no flex. My guess is most TS manufacturers use use white metal (tin, antimony, lead, etc)
The only other manufacturer I recall talking about such things was Rick from Figarti. He talked about switching to zinc alloy but from what I do not know. All I know is that the zinc alloy figures were lighter, much more brittle or more susceptible to breakage. I recall the Wake Is launch figures were made of zinc alloy. For what it's worth he said the zinc alloy material had a higher melting point, something they had to contend with during manufacturing.

Zinc Alloy aka, Zamac ( Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, Copper) is typically used in Diecasting i,e, Model Cars, FOV Armor etc. Figures cast in Zinc alloy would be both light and brittle compared with Pewter; which is more ductile and more expensive. A typical Modern European Pewter Casting Alloy is; 94% Tin, 5% Antimony and 1% Copper. Asian Pewter has a higher Tin content and is more ductile, Antimony hardens the alloy. Tin content can range between 85% and 99% depending on the application.
