Okay, fair enough, but leading on from my previous post, seeing as all members of the German Armed Forces swore an oath to the Nazi Party before and during WWII, presumably you don't have any German figures in your ETO collection then?
So why the objection to Pacific war?
Surely, as implied in your responses, if you only have American troops in your ETO collection, then there would be no compunction to collect Japanese troops for a Pacific War collection either and you could only purchase American figures?
This would seem to me to be a suitable way for you to collect figures without compromising your collecting principles.

Hi guys,
Following on from Panzer Aces breakfast comments I would just like to say my breakfast was bacon, poached eggs, tomato and toast with a mug of coffee with one sugar. It was great.
Oh yes, and the weather is nice and sunny.
This is just my opinion. I could be wrong. Maybe I should have had fried eggs ?

What scale were the eggs? Jumbo? Because those will only go with thick cut bacon.

As I've said, it could be because it's supposed to depict an internal security operation. But I'm only surmising and don't really know if this is the actual reason for the objection to it.

I think the Hiroshima bomb was necessary. I'm not convinced the Nagasaki one was. Neither was Eisenhower. That's all I'll say on the matter.
 
i had already expressed my negative feelings on japanese imperial forces in ww2 on this thread. i'm no anti-jap by any means, as i have a profound interest in japanese culture and history, use japanese products, and have japanese friends.

i've also mentioned that i have no apprehension in admiring the japanese figures as beautiful works of art. but for me at the moment, as far the jap minatures are concerned, i collect samurai figures.

but if some manufacturers dwell into the jap ww2 ranges such as iwo jima or kamikaze pilots, i'm very much interested. before anyone jumps at my seemingly nonsensical sentence, im able to accept them as these are moments of utter desperation and appending defeat of the japs, and not the triumphant and brutal conquest upon asia.

this logic is similar to those who seemingly collects only american/british normandy/afrika figures, but alas requires the germans as the opposition to fully complete a diorama.

my thoughts.
 
Whatever happened to " as a kid, my plastic Marx Marines always beat my plastic Marx Japanese ". Growing up, I had all the playsets and my favorite theater of war was the Pacific, because of the million B grade movies showing that side of WW2. In fact, I submit that most of the early war movies were of the Pacific side( do not know why ). I never thought about what made the Japanese the bad guys. They just were. Some of the " collectors ",get a little too brainy about the political stuff. These are toy soldiers, a metal upgrade to what we played with, as innocent kids. Bad intentions and evil purposes can and have been attached to just about any nationality or era that we might collect toy soldiers from. I collect good guys and bad guys as I perceive them. Makes for simpler decisions in buying what I want, regardless of how many Swastika or the Rising Sun emblems festoon them...Michael
 
Every collector has different interests and opinions. What's the point of making a big deal out of personal opinions which we developed over time from personal experiences or those of our friends or relatives.

I don't collect Japanese WWII sets because I had Four uncles involved in the Pacific theater. Two were captured by the Japanese and received harsh treatment. Other collectors may not collect LAH or whatever else for similar reasons.

With all due respect, I suggest those that don't have similar feelings, or have simply got over theirs should consider themselves lucky rather than adopt some seemingly superior attitude. That said my eldest son is studying to teach the Japanese language so it's not as if I hate everything Japanese, nor do I promote such feelings. I just don't like how they treated people I love and respect during WWII, it's that simple.
 
Just as we have had scale discussions to no avail, I'm wondering if this is of the same kind, again to no avail. We all have our preferences and wouldn't it be best just to leave it at that?:)

Quite frankly, I do know how we got here, from the original post of this thread. As I have suggested before, some collectors overthink and dismiss the value of collecting toy soldiers, just because we " like "them..Michael
 
I love this hobby i truly do.I have collected Toy soldiers of one type or another from the age of about six and i enjoy them even more now.And with Figarti producing Tanks and guns of such wonderful quality,well its just all good.:)
