It was a great day out - especially the philosophy in the bar part!
Always good to catch up with everyone and meet new folks like Molloy.
Plus UK Reb always has good stories to tell. :D

I've mentioned on another thread in this section of the forum that my recent Hobbybunker order has been delivered safely to my home in China.
I also received news this morning that my not-so-recent Figarti order from Clive of Grey Goose in the UK has now been released by Chinese Customs at long last and is presently taking up all available space under our secretary's desk in Beijing.
Missus Heid is going to arrange to have it send to our residential address today.

This happy outcome would never have been accomplished in a thousand years without the splendid customer support from Clive - and I thank him profusely for all his efforts, and no little of his precious time chasing up the courier company.

Our collecting community tends to hear a few rumours and negatives concerning certain dealerships from time to time - but I have NEVER experienced anything but support from the gentlemen, (and not forgetting the Lady's), whom I purchase my international orders from. We would not have these additions to our collection if it had not been for the excellent service we received from both Hobbybunker and Grey Goose.

Gentlemen - THANKS AGAIN.

Oh, and I look forward to receiving the usual EXCELLENT customer support I've received time and time again from both Minutemen and Treefrog over the next few months as well.

Best Regards
Happy Heid

I doubt if I alone in this, but the poses I would like to see the Japanese soldiers portrayed in...well...I doubt if they would be made.

Middle aged & older U.S. collectors are closer in memory to the atrocities done by the Japanese...and some of us had relatives who fought & endured those savages.

In the DAK, you can find the 'Best of Enemies' set. Such a concept in the Pacific would be utterly ridculous. Whole different game in the Pacific.

I fail to see why I was quoted here? The full sentence I wrote was:
I often wonder if the oft-expressed opposition to a Pacific range is the fact that ETO collectors might think there not much scope for armour in this theatre.
At no time did I mention poses for scale miniatures of WWII Japanese soldiers? I merely asked a rhetorical question concerning what may be a reason to make dyed-in-the-wool ETO collectors reluctant to consider Pacific or C-I-B campaigns.
Surely you're not suggesting that people such as myself who collect miniature figurines as a hobby are condoning the savagery of the Imperial Japanese forces during WWII - and prior to 1941 in China?
And may I respectfully remind you that it was not only Americans who suffered at the hands of these unspeakable war criminals, but also soldiers and civilians from my own country who were unfortunate enough to fall into the hands of monsters and were subjected to atrocities that were almost too horrifying to think about - along with, off the top of my head, Australians, Dutch, Filipino's, Burmese, Chinese and Indians - my apologies for any nationalities I've missed out.

As I've stated, I collect miniature figurines as a hobby. To imply that because I and others want to collect figures depicting the battles that took place in the Far East durung WWII - especially in my case those depicting the early years, 1941 - 1943 in particular, means we (in some mysterious way) support the aims and methods of the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces is the stuff of fantasies - and entirely risible.

You asked if my (an ETO collector) reason for not being interested in PacWar themes is because of the lower participation of tanks in the theatre.

My answer is is that armour has nothing to do with it. Japs have everything to do with it.

On my desk at work I have prominently displayed the Corgi 1/144 Enola Gay. That's enough for me.

Harry,

Cmon, there are no rhetorical questions on this forum. If you asked "what did I have for breakfast this morning?" on this forum ten guys will tell you what you had and another ten will tell you why you liked it, another twenty will tell you why you shouldn't have liked it. Then someone will say that breakfast is over-rated, then a group will defend breakfast and accuse the breakfast haters of condoning a non nutritional lifestyle simply because they don’t like breakfast and they will try and soften this blow by saying that it is all in their humble opinion. And after a day of reading posts you will look back and say, “Oh yes, I had coffee and toast for breakfast and as I recall I enjoyed it or at least I thought I did”.

That's funny, yet eerily accurate :D

Brett or anybody for that matter,

If you have an issue with comments about what a particular member says, my suggestion (as well as Shannon's) is to pm that member to discuss your concerns with that person.

That would seem to be the best way to iron things out than go public with them for everybody to see.

What Tanks can we expect next from Figarti then guys?.I'm hoping Rick may visit Hobarts funnies. There are so many Allied Tanks yet to be made that its exciting thinking about what may come next.:)

I know this is often a forgotten topic, and I also know Rick has said it will probably never happen, but I would love to see an M1A1 for the Iraq series.

I'll second that one. In fact, any AFV for the Iraq series would be good.

For some reason this place looks familiar ??? ;)

I'd love to see Figarti make a Valentine Rob - or, and I'm aware this may not be your era, but how about a Centurion, or even a Chieftan?

Thanks
Harry

Nasir,
I might be wrong, but aren't at least some of the excellent HB Panthers still available?
I tend to agree with Rob here and think I'd prefer to see more Brit/American/Other Allied FAV's first before more Panthers (and Tigers) aree launched at us)..
Just my take on things of course.

And completely contadictory, (also of course), I'd snap up a Figarti JagdPanther - which I'm pretty certain the HB examples are no longer available on dealers shelves. One of my all time favourite pieces of German armour.

Cheers
Harry
