Figarti Tanks (2 Viewers)

Quite true my gentlefiend, I always enjoy our discussions. I love them all and if I had the space and the money I might very well own a absteilung of them.

In regards the PTO it is very sad that the interest is so low because the Marines who fought that part of the war are screwed. It was horrible, horrible, war. The fighting intense. A no quarter war. I used to think of the Germans and Japanese as evil . Now, I am older and have a lot of time to think. I realize that there were brave, good, young men on all sides. There were evil men on all sides too. Some just never were caught. War sucks. If you think that collecting the figures venerates one side or the other it might for you, for me it honours the sacrifices made by all. An interesting note; the veterans of both sides when they meet now hug and cry.

Besides no one is forced to buy anything. Why worry about what other people buy? I would hope no one would buy something they thought was bad or immoral. What would be the purpose? To quote Hugh Grant,"That's just silly".
This is a great post, I have really enjoyed reading it.

Happy collecting to you all!

I have spoken many times with KV about different products and at the end of the day I agree with him. Most companies, one way or another, make great items, and they all have their merits. The same goes for different lines as well. For example, no matter who the manufacturer or the piece, I do not collect any Pacific themed WW II items because I simply have no interest in it. On the other hand I do not have anything against those who do collect it.

Also, although people do not like it, the fact is the Nazi stuff sells. You can obviously choose not to buy it and you can rail against those who do, but at the end of the day, no matter what anyone else thinks I am still going to buy it.

And Harry if you can't find a local home for your Nazis please let me know. I will be more than happy to give them a very nice home. :D

Thought i'ld post a few pics of my Figarti Collection. It's been doing a little growing, albeit slowly;

I see you have the Pacific version of the Honey. Very nice.

And is that a popsicle stick enclosure. Even if not it gives me the idea on building some simple shed enclosures. It looks good.

No they're not popsicle sticks they are called "skinny sticks" and I got them in the craft section at walmart. They're cheap. They were part of a dio I was making at one time and lost interest in. They were supposed to be garage buildings. I just put them behind the tanks because it made for a more interesting backdrop than my basement's cinder block wall. I still have to finish the roof on one of them.

Nicely done! It looks like it could be a motor pool just back from the front.

Thanks Captain - on to Wal-Mart tomorrow.

Thanks that's actually what it was going to be. I was going to call it "Das Panzer Garten" and put all my German armor inside the compound being worked on etc and these were the motor pool buildings. I'll get back to it sometime. I've got street lights and anti-arcraft inplacements and a headquarters buiding but took it down before I got it finished and any pictures taken.

That is the tank we are talking about, and Figarti says it is 1/32 scale. It is a touch smaller than the earlier K&C Whittmann Last Tiger and Winter Tiger which are a "small 1/30 scale" and much smaller than the K&C Tunisian Tiger at a "full 1/30 scale. The most obvious size difference between the Figarti and Whittmann tigers is the main gun.

Terry

Hi Terry, I note that your Figarti Normandy Tiger is darker than the Captains version. Is this a photographic difference? If not, can you suggest another explanation.

I think it is photographic. Captain has a lot more light on his tanks than I have on mine. But I fixed that by reducing the light on his photo and his tank is almost as dark as mine now.

Sorry Mister Ace.
It's all been a massive windup.
I love my little Nazis and intend buying every one I can lay my hands on until the house is over-run with them....
:):)

For anyone who's really interested, myself and Rob have been having an exchange of viewpoints. Nothing wrong with that, especially as the exchange, although robust, has not degenerated into anarchy due to the vigilance of our Forum Moderators. I look forward to your impressions of the Figarti AFV you're obtaining on Saturday Rob, if tinged with a little touch of jealousy cos I'm not getting my one for another 3 weeks or so.
:(:(....:p:p
I might just decide to buy that K&C FoB French M/C Combination after all. The more I look, the better it gets. If I do buy it, then I'll certainly provide my honest opinion on this forum.
Now, please excuse me as I have a couple of PM's to respond to.

Thank You
:)
Harry

Harry,

Thanks for the update and more importantly the laugh!

I really did enjoy reading your posts on this subject.

Re: Wake Island - Japanese "Special Naval Landing Forces"

I found some photos on the net. Tank looks good especially the track and wheels. I would love to have one but a Figarti note says only 90 were made. It also says that you were impressed with the model enough to make it your first Figarti purchase.

Terry

I finally took some shots of my Chi Ha. I will e-mail them to Brad with a polite request to post them.

Mine is in the mail tomorrow and should arrive next week. I think it is the first version with the individual tracks.

Terry

I have 3 of Figartis Chi Ha, one with crew, 2 without. they all look the same to me, marked first edition. The tracks are brittle as all get out, but I do like the tanks very much!

Louis thought there were two versions - one with individual track links and one with a more solid but less realistic looking track.

How do you handle them when they are that brittle?

Terry

Figarti has a new tank........and a gun.

See the London Show Pics.
