Figarti's M-7 Priest Not so Shock and Awe like Collectors think (1 Viewer)

Where back to this accuracy thing again,IMO if you like the look of it buy it if not dont, unlike most i have NOT got a shop in my state that sells ANY of the major models figarti,k+c etc so all my buying is online i cant look first in person then buy so what i read on here and info from Brett (Military workshop) and George (Minutemen) and Doug (BGS) they say it looks great i believe them. They dont say yeah it looks great Wayne for a sale because they know if its CRAP i wont be back.

So, I am assuming this is yet something else JG will not be buying? Has he even bought what he claims to like? He always seems to see these sets at another collectors display.

When I was at the shop back in NYC, we had this guy who used to come in all the time.

"Gee, I'd love to get my hands on dismounted Confederate Cavalry", "Gee, I'd love to get a hold of xxxxxxxxx and xxxxxxxx".

So Guard Corps dismounted cavalry comes in and they are beautiful. I show him the sets and "well, tht's not really the arm position I was hoping for. It should be more like this (raising arms to show what he wants)".

Lo and behold, the next release from Guard Corps had exactly that positioning. Guy comes in, sees this set and asks for a closer look. I oblige and open the case. As he is examining the figures, he notes that the pull straps on the boots are not as clearly defined on these new sets; "are they getting lazy? they didn't paint the extension of the boot straps going over the trousers like they did on that set over there".

I just closed the case and went back to my other chores of the day. Never opened the case for him again.

Why would anyone even take the time to respond to the origional post. Just consider the source and forget about it.

Do you still have those Gaurd Corp sets for sale then?

Reading through this thread I'm curious as to how one obtains the books by Mike Starmers? A quick Google search doesn't yield much, and I get the feeling these are more home grown books vs. mass market. Any insight is appreciated, and thank you for some great responses to an otherwise negative initial post!

I was going to post something on the Priest anyway. :) And from a few comments from people who haven't seen the piece live, a rationale opinion was helpful. Otherwise, you are correct.

Just Clearing my Opinion's on the Figarti Priest! First of ALL I didn't know, that the D-Day Priest had Different/Variable Configuration's, than the N.Africa 8th Army Priest! When I, see or Buy any Toys WW2 whether it be K&C, CS, HB, Figarti,Etc; I Examined,it and make sure that evey Nook and Kranny,is Satisfiable with my Likings! I'm Sure any Reasonable Toy Collector, has done this task of Liking or Disliking the Item! ; And if my Comments on the Forum, is being Challenged, I will defend myself! I do appreciate some GOOD knowlageable Feedbacks, and I don't Buy Anything or Toys or whatever it maybe, without Checking them out! So, my Feedback to some Member's who has a Negatory Comments/Remarks , is Do what you like to do, and go on with your Business! "Sausage its own"! Old Italian Proverb! Also, the M-7 PRIEST 105-Howitzer isn't made of Metal! This Whole Episode ,is ONLY about Collecting Toys and that's All it is! No Personnal Feelings! CIAO!

I wish people would be more tolerant of the way some members express their opinions on this forum :(

Nobody knows everything about military weapons and as a collector of mainly German stuff I have to admit that I wasn't aware of the differences between the Brit and US 'Priests'. And I am sure I am not the only member that didn't know there was much difference. Would we have learned this without John starting this thread, I personally don't think so, so please keep that in mind.

Oz, well said. I am sure we could all be more tolerant at times. Gary's post was an eye opener for me, I had no idea either on those differences!

Thanks Tom, and I wish more company owners were as tolerant of 'customer complaints' as Rick is. Lately I have noted some over reactive replies from two other company owners that we could have done without. I buy models from several companies and I have to say that lately I have been buying more from Figarti because they don't get overly defensive about their products and they actually do change things in response to customer complaints. I like to see accuracy and detail at a reasonable price, Figarti is a company offering that at this time - imo of course. Btw, my delicately detailed Tropical 88 mm and Halftrack turned up without anything broken, so they have made good improvements in that area as well.

That is why it is so hard to make direct comparisons of one model to another - they could easily be based on different chassis and parts. I think the evolution from the M3 Lee to M4 Sherman chassis saw some M7 Priests even produced from a gradual shift of M3 to M4 parts over a short period of time. The 8th Army Priest was an early model. The Texas Special was a later, but still fairly early model, especially compared to the old K&C D-Day series model. I think the Texas Special served briefly in North Afrika before going to Italy.

Hey, why the confrontational thread title? That is what set me off. It comes off as a real insult to the maker. That's not fair.

You could simply have phrased it like you uncovered some inaccuracies and allowed the debate and information to flow.

john is perhaps misunderstood.
im certain someday he will pose the pictures of his brilliant collection of K&C, CS, HB, Figarti,Etc; that he had painstakingly inspected every Nook and Kranny.

Every forum needs a Gambale, someone who when he posts and you are having the day from Hell, you read what he writes and fall off your chair laughing.....:)

He is our little ray of sunshine around here, he's never met a "toy tank or figure" he liked, at least he's consistent, he hates everything from everyone......

Good pick up by you; so there IS something he likes, are they "beefy" and "shirtless" as those seem to be two of his hot buttons..................
