Hi Guys, Just recieved the First Legion PanzerIII......Even better than the Stugs ( if that is possible)....Tremendous detail.....Paint is just fantastic....the weathering and subtle shading is right on the spot....Looks like it was done by an award winning 1:35 scale modeler......This is definitely a great PanzerIII.....No worries here.....All the best Vezzolf

Yes, photos please. Hoping to add the AK vehicle later this summer.

Question; What is it made of, Plastic? I just jumped into the world of First Legion by ordering some of their WWII German figures so I am thinking about their vehicles now.

You won't regret getting the AK vehicle Brad. I think the weathering is really nicely done on that one as well.

Steve,

Thanks. From looking at the FL web site, it looks quite nice. Hope Matt has a chance to expand the range.

I will defer to others but I believe it's some kind of resin.

No, it's about 80% resin (not polystone) with some metal, photo etched, and 2 different types of plastic parts. The bogey wheel assembly is hard plastic for example. The reason for this is that you can't cast perfectly round parts in resins because the mold compresses over time and using hard plastic aids in the accuracy of the parts and the overall quality of the assembly because the parts are perfectly cast. As EACH side of just the track setup has about 40 separate parts, the result is far superior when done in plastic than resin (and certainly either would be superior to any kind of single cast polystone). The majority of it, however, is resin. This material is often used by the after market kit makers who make modification hulls and such for 1/35th scale plastic kits. Same concept basically, except we're using it to make entire tanks and supplementing the resin with other materials where appropriate.

And i heard Brad mention elsewhere that the excellent Figarti Tiger has a few hundred parts. All of our vehicles have part counts this high and that is without any interior detailing. :D

To be honest I don't know exactly what it is made of - but the vehicles are very light and extremely well detailed.

There are many threads here - probably on the Stugs - where the material of the vehicles has been debated at length - if I had more time, I would help searching.

We are expanding it and will hopefully release something for this range before the end of the year. We already have the sculpts done, it's just a matter of slotting them into production. First we have to knock out the initial releases for the new ranges, then it will be back to WWII, both DAK and Stalingrad, full steam ahead.

Welcome to the First legion section of the forum , May I ask what you thought of the WWII German figures . Its always nice for me to hear the opinion of a collectors first experience with First Legion . I have the Stug , I'm not an expert on such things but to me it feels like some form of plastic . I would recommend it to you without hesitation as one of the most highly realistic and detailed available . Happy collection Gebhard

Hi Keith,

I have both Stugs and have the German recon vehicle coming my way next week, the tanks are sturdy not fragile at all, I have most all of the German figures except for a few and working on the Russians now, when you see the detail/painting/scultping of these guys in person you will be blown away!! get a magnifying glass if you can and just get a real close up of how great the detail is all over the uniforms/guns/facial features, you'll be ordering more soon I promise...Sammy

The Stalingard Line is amazing....No kidding guys....Good to hear that AK versions are in the making....The FL Panzer III is a great tank.....Don't hestiate on this one......The paint/ shading is that german "panzer grey" (with a hint of blue) and it is weathered perfectly IMO not over-done....I also like the way the tracks sag a bit on the wheels......I have also picked up the German Obsevation Team...."EXCELLENT"......I'm not a good photo person but the pictures on the FL web-site do not lie.....Sammy you'll like the re-con vehicle.......Best to all....Happy collecting

Gentlemen,

I am still waiting for my order which should arrive next week. I am expecting the figures will be great but will let you know once I see them in person. I have not been this excited about an order in a long time.

My best,
Keith

If i am reading this right , that means no germans for at least 4 months ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have just seen some pics of the new Panzer III in the toy soldier mag today and, I have to say that it is very nice (understatement). I just wish they would enlarge their stuff to 1/30

The AFVs and figures are 1:30. The K&C, Figarti, and TGM figures are larger than 1:30
