First Legion scale question (1 Viewer)

Hallo ,
Please see the thread a couple down started by Tommy416 Called Play Time its a link to Photo's of his very nice FL and Figarti collection and IMO they look very nice together .. Regards Gebhard

Thanks Gebhard! The pictures really helped.

I am glad the 54mm issue has been removed that is a very confusing scale to state as it means something different IMO to what is being made. The scale issue is more problematic when manufacturers use terminology such as true 1/30th or similar and, this has come from other companies. Its interesting to see the deviations which are noticable in ranges to be laid at the door of the sculptor. Do they not have their work checked by the manufacturers before saying yay or nay to what they have produced and, if they are instructed to make true 1/30th scale how come the individual interpretation. Frank recently commented on a scale issue elsewhere that a company would not last long representing sest as one scale when they were another.

True 1/30th should be easy to replicate I am interested to note collectors now asking for clarification on the sales of sets prior to release that they are either small medium or large from a manufacturer. We have indeed a new bar for scale if this is the cvase. Scale, sadly affects all manufacturers and, it should not, 1/30th means 1/30th wherever one comes from its a universal measurement

From the FL Website for those who may have missed it , seems pretty upfront to me . Regards Gebhard

"There are many figures scales out there for both Toy Soldiers and Historical miniature wargames figures and even different classifications within the same scale. Thus, we want to provide you with this simple guide to the scale of our figures. All of our painted figure ranges are 60mm or true 1/30th in scale. Please note that we have changed our descriptions from 54mm to 60mm simply because it more accurately describes the actual size of the figures. We have not changed the size of the figures, only the classifications! If this doesn't fully answer your questions regarding scale, please don't hesitate to contact us.

We are quite often asked about the relative size of our figure ranges as compared to one another. To assist you with this we've take a figure from a few of our ranges and photographed them next to one another. As you can see, most everything is pretty close in size with perhaps the Crusaders being a tiny bit bigger and the WWII being a tiny bit smaller. But generally speaking, the goals of the scales are to be true 1/30th or 60mm but as with any artistic endeavor such as this, some slight variance may exist from sculptor to sculptor!"

Thought I would add this for anyone thinking of mixing Roman lines.

I agree nice figures , but annoying when this happens, purchased some First legion myself these are more like 65mm, they are huge and even though they are nice, useless when placing then in existing diorama with Russian made figures or even King Country, this sought of thing should not happen, slight differences is acceptable and it happens, these these FL knights are defintelt not 54mm
all the best

Woooow, if we would cut roman KnC figure they would be almost identical in size, thanks for that photo, now I guess main difference between sizes are figures related wwii.

They never made any claim that they are 54mm. They are 60mm.

It is me or do KnC figures have oversized heads??? KnC WWII figures look to have the same problem when mixing with similar firms.

K & C heads (and hands) have always seemed a bit larger than other companies'.

FL's Crusades line is bigger than the other lines but it doesn't make a difference unless you are going to put them with WWII or Nap figures.Since KC are pretty large I wouldn't think there would be a problem.

Very True....Common Sense Post....The Crusader line is definitely larger for some reason^&confuse....I have them... But since they are totally different time periods the issue is mute......Although I prefer the 1:30th scale of WWII and NAPS.... Despite all of this....All I can say is FL is making some of the very best, most historically accurate products in the TS industry:salute::.... FL WWII AFV's are now being released with more frequency....(I want to see an FL Stalingrad Winter Stug):salute::.....It's a great time to be collecting FL "military miniatures"no matter what range is your preference...^&cool
