First Legion Stug III Ausf F/8 (2 Viewers)

It looks like Resin to me ?

You get a finer detail in the molding, and not as brittle as polystone.

Cheers

I would guess closer to $400. The figures would be $100 by themselves. It is a cool idea to have them as full figures.

What is this tank made of? Is it polystone like other companies, or are you using a different material?

Hi, Peter,

I dont want to get into specifics on materials yet, but i will say that there isn't any polystone in the tank at all. We are using 5 different materials in the building of this one vehicle.

Matt

Matt did say $350 tops but I'm sure he'll take $400; that is indeed a cool idea. I can't even think about this though since that will buy 8-9 Infantry figures or 3-4 cavalry, First Legion that is.:D

Matt,

You may have answered this and it's probably premature, but when do you anticipate (ballpark guess) Russian vehicles?

Thanks for the intel.

Re: First Legion Stug III USAF F/8

This is an excellent piece, and brings the toy soldier world in the ballpark with the 1/35Th scale modeling crowd. But the price will be important. At $300 to $400 I could not justify buying it. I would have to stick with Figarti. The Amtrac in the enclosed photo for $129 is way good enough for me, in regards to detail. This of course typifies Figarti's recent quality.

YES we do work for Figarti... but we do not favor anyone who sponsors BPS. We just had a big go around with the Figarti Fuel truck, which we complained about the scale. And we are sometimes not happy with their figures also. But Figarti vehicles are generally hard to beat. They just have that nasty battle worn look.

Excellent dio and photo by the way - my oh my you're a temptress (tempter?)! Hey - I hear what you're saying, $129 for that piece is a very good price and a very good value from what I can see. Remember, though, with our piece will ship two full figures that are sculpted to just amazing standards and painted far better than anything else available. Take away the figures which are about $100 alone and our Stug itself is much less expensive. And, for what it's worth, our stug looks just like a model kit when finished, it looks nothing like a "toy soldier" vehicle.

To each his own of course. It all depends on what's more important to you, price or quality. It may be more expensive, but there is nothing better out there in 1/30th scale (and yes, the Stug is 1/30th scale, though I hesitate to even say that nasty word). We don't anticipate selling thousands of these things, but we do think we'll do well with a more connoisseur level collector who only wants the finest pieces. For that type of collector used to paying much higher prices for quality like ours, our figures, and now our vehicles, will be a bargain. For collectors who are used to paying less and who are perfectly content with the lower quality, then perhaps some will splurge on a few of our pieces as they aren't totally unaffordable to them. However, and I've heard it over and over again - once you switch to our products its very difficult to go back. ;)

Again, great image. Really brings the vehicles there to life.

Matt

Matt - Is the Stug going to be a 'limited' production piece?

I think we're going to do no more than 200 in a given color scheme. It remains to be seen if we're going to do more than one scheme. We have three different paint masters do decisions decisions decisions..... However, there is a bit more to it than that and when we release, we'll in fact be releasing 2 different vehicles at once. More on this next month....

Matt, it's good to know this so one can plan and save-up in time to make these purchases. Again thanks for the heads-up.

I am actually jealous, us firefighters who served at Ground Zero don't make the money that some of the affluent collectors on this forum make, and have a hard time affording products of this caliber. No denying you have excellent stuff. I will try my best to own one some day. Alex

Matt,
I just want to say how great you Stug looks but at 350 it should look better than K/C or Figarti. When reading your previous post you talk about how much better quality your product is than the other competitors, well it should be for that price. The question I have for you is I know K/C could make a tank for that price and be just as good ,but could you make a Crusader tank for 149 like K/C and the quality be as good.If you think about it K/C has nothing in the 350 range so it hard to compare and contrast the different companies. Greg

With so many companies upping the quality ante at fair pricing, I am going to hold judgement on this Stug, till I see end product and actual list price..Michael

Why would you want another Crusader tank at the same quality for the same price? I don't know Greg but I think the products are pretty easy to compare and contrast; price, like quality, is just one of the differences.;) As to whether K&C could make the same product at the same price, we won't know until they do it and besides, as Louis noted, they seem to have their hands full with Figarti right now.

Hi, Greg,

Thanks for your comment on the stug. To answer your question, I'm not sure if we could to be honest with you. I know we could physically, but I don't think we could philosophically. The real question is why would we? Aren't there enough companies out there already doing this (and doing it very well) at those price points and that quality level?

As for whether or not these other companies could produce products to our quality, who knows. But again, why would they? They'd make far less profit as our costs are several multiples higher but our retail prices are not multiples higher.

But you're right - it's certainly not an apples to apples comparison. They're different products at different price points. Thus both have their merits. Ours will be more accurate and detailed, other's are more affordable. It's really up to you all as the collectors if you prefer the additional detail and accuracy at the additional cost.

Regards,

Matt

Thanks for the warning but a bit late and unnecessary. A Few of us already put on our tin hats when Greg's post first came out. Besides - you are a Moderator and Shannon is away, so now we get to watch you Moderate from the beginning of an incident, (Did anyone bring popcorn?) Best of Luck :D
