I've been working on this one, on and off, on and off, on and off(you get it) for about two years. I had to rush the water portion of this dio due to my departure to NZ. I'm already aware that it does have some glaring errors. Being as this is the first time I've used water in a dio, cut me a little bit of slack if you would. The windmill is a kit that I bought a long time ago from: www.monroeperdu.com
It was not totally to scale but close enough. If the windmill was any larger, I wouldn't have the space. I got the idea for doing this dio while reading Hugh Sebag-Montefiore's book "Dunkirk Fight To the Last Man". A few of my favorite portions are as follows:
We were in trees by the canal. We were all eating breakfast, when suddenly there were explosions all around us. I remember seeing the Company Runner, Guardsman Brind, showered with earth and thought " Well thats just ruined his breakfast" I took cover with Guardsman Chapman on 4 Company's extreme left flank. Then we were hit by a bomb, and all that was left of Chapman was his pack. I remember thinking: 'Funny, he was wearing that a second ago' - Private Arthur Rice - page 157
While a mixed party of men was forming up to embark, a single soldier, unable to take any more, broke ranks and made a dash for the gangway. Without a moment's hesitation, the subaltern in charge took out his revolver and shot the man through the heart, who lay motionless on the jetty. The young officer then turned to his section and calmly told them that he only wanted fighting men with him. The effect was electric and undoubtly prevented a stampede by other troops awaiting evacuation - Lombard-Hobson page 207
