football season is here!!!!!!!!!! (2 Viewers)

Gee, if the Moderator is banned, does that mean we are unmoderated.;):D Empathy Mate, it was a lot earlier for me is all. Now I hope Baltimore goes all the way, even if they have the wrong name now.:D

Yeah, if the Eagles are in the final, I'll be definitely rooting for the Steelers or Ravens.

Well the second round of games are in the books, and all I can say is wow. Where do I begin; both #1 seeds, bye bye. One of two # 2 seeds gone as well.

What a game the Eagles played today, they undressed the defending Super Bowl Champs and Eli. He looked awful today, most of his passes were wounded ducks. Give the Eagles major credit, they smacked the Giants in the nose, "Earth, Wind and Fire" looked more like "The Three Stooges". What was Coughling thinking; a QB sneak on fourth down? All he does is rant and rave on the sidelines like a mental patient. Although his ranting and raving did get the refs to overturn an obvious PI call.

I guess the bye ain't all it's cracked up to be; not to mention the Giants clearly missed trick shot Plaxico today, he was a distraction down the stretch and losing 3 of 4 then todays loss proves it.

The Colts went down in flames last week, now the Giants; no Mannings in the Super Bowl this year, they can focus instead on that oreo eating contest with the Williams sisters.

I'm taking the Steelers and the Eagles next week, an all PA Super Bowl with the Steelers coming out on top, 17-14.

Give me a break. The Titans shot themeselves in the foot yesterday and your offense blows. These two games have been pure gifts by the other team. Yeah, and when is that criminal going to start serving time for murder?

You know Brad I have had enough of your little saying " your offense blows"... you have mentioned that statement about the Ravens on more then a few occuations, to bad I'm not the moderator here maybe I would think THAT STATEMENT is crossing the lines and have it deleted!!!! so why don't you chill with the nasty remarks, I can go back and forth with anyone about a sport but I will not cross the line about it, and as far as your remarks on Lewis talk to your Atlanta D.A., they are the ones who wanted Lewis prosecuted badly but found no evidence to convict him and dropped all charges.

oh yea, while my no offense team plays for the A.F..C champoinship, your team will be sitting cozy, comfy, on the couch....Sammy

Sammy,

2 things Mr. Gator, I felt worried about the Steelers, but NOT ANYMORE my man, if Willie Parker is back like he was today and has that type of game against the Ravens, there are going to be a lot of purple tears, if he runs for 100 yards, Steelers win going away.

ALso, please review the facts of the Ray Lewis case, they didn't drop any charges, they pleaded him out and convicted him of obstruction if he agreed to testify. NOW, I never thought he murdered anyone, however I do think it was reprehensible that it took threatening him with felony murder in order for him to tell the whole truth. That is what cost him part of his reputation and it still sits out there. Again, I don't think he was ever guilty of anything other than not telling the whole truth when I asked and that was just not the right thing to do. BUT, he was convicted in a plea arrangement, so you can't technically say any charges/ evidence, etc, he plead Guilty.

As for the offense, take away a couple of long passes and the Ravens didn't have much, so that whole statement is still up for debate.

Tom

Sammy,

Sorry if I ruffled your feathers but can't you take a little ribbing. It's all in good fun. However, if you look at their offensive stats, they're not a good team, ranking 18th overall. No matter how you cut it, I don't think that's great.

As far as Ray Lewis, the guy is scum, just plain and simple. If you're proud of having him on your team, well..... All I know is that the Giants cut their ties with Plaxico and he wasn't even involved in the death of another human being.

If you think mr. willie is gonna rush for a 100 or more yards next week your dream'n awful big, that guy hasn't ever had a good game against the ravens, already everyone has the Steelers winning BIG next week, well that's cool, if anyone had watched both games this year Baltimore should have won them both, but we fumbled away the first and didn't stop pittsburgh on that last drive in the 2nd game, so we'll see next week fella's, I'm gonna leave it at that, no more bull.... here on my end, like Ed Reed said (were gonna let all the talk happen on the field next sunday.")

mmmm let's see.... gators national champs, ravens super bowl winners, not a bad year!!!!!!!!...Sammy

A liitle offense and alot of DEFENSE can go along way, maybe even all the way to the A.F.C. final???? brad if your still holding on to those bad memories of the Ravens whipping the Giants butts in the 2001 super bowl get over it, I have moved on can't you???...Sammy

I know developing a QB takes time, but the Redskins quarterback doesn't have a clue.

As far as the Ravens go, aren't they picked to be near the bottom?

Brad, Hope you did better with your fantasy league then this comment ha!!!!...sammy

You're right, talk is cheap and I think Parker is due and I don't think it is dreaming. I don't think the Ravens want to see Parker get into his groove, he is a gifted runner who can get it done. I feel better going into this game than I did this weekend. The Steelers came out fresh and ready, hopefully they will do the same on Sunday. I think it will be a good game and home field advantage is huge.

I don't think Parker will get 100 yards. I think the way to beat the Ravens is to throw the ball. They can be passed on. And don't make any stupid turnovers. You say the Ravens gave the Steelers the first game. How's that?
That game turned when Jarret Johnson gave Hines Ward a cheap shot out of bounds. Having a disciplined smart team is part of the game. Their defense is good but they're also a bunch of idiots. All the trash talking and dancing around and thumping their chest is ridiculous. They act like people are afraid of them. Nobody on Pittsburgh is scared of the Ravens.

Jr,
I am fine no matter how we win, just need that "W". Being in Baltimore, it has been very interesting so far this morning, the Raven faithful in my office are more than concerned over the upcoming game. We (Steelers) just need a solid performance like yesterday and I think we win. It would be also nice to get after Flacco, if we can get to him, I think the "rookie" in him might come out.

I can see now all week it's gonna be a Baltimore Raven bash party by the Raven haters, (nothing new there) and this will be my last comment of the week until next Sunday nite, ( after the ravens win)

here's a few stats for you boys

*a rookie coach.
*a rookie quarterback.
*more players on the disabled list (4 starters) then any team in league.
*6th toughest schedule in the N.F.L.
*one of the youngest offensive line in the N.F.L.
* new offensive coach.
*have played now 18 games in a row without a bye due to the schedule change because of the hurricane in houston back in sept.
* had a span of of 5 games on the road in a row.
* all playoff games on the road (all wins so far)
*beat the afc east champs(dolphins) beat the #1 seed (titans) who had just recently beat the living ---- out of the steelers to get the #1 seed.
*the 3 out of 5 lost games were decided in the last three minutes of game, (one in o.t. steelers) ( a invisible personal foul on suggs against the titans, week 5 I think) (and of course my personal favorite, the no touchdown agianst the steelers in the second game.)

see ya in pittsburgh Raven haters, we lost two battles against 'em, but we'll see who wins the war.....Sammy

As I have said before, it is nearly impossible to beat a team 3 times in one season in the NFL, however, it will be personally satisfying to see it happen this year. Just because people on here (unlike me who are not Steelers fans) have pointed out that the Ravens may not be the best statistically, you have deemed them Ravens haters, don't you think they are merely being objective. Penalites and referree calls (as we have all agreed) do not change a game, if you have to rely on the refs to win it, you don't deserve to win.

Take this for what its worth, Sunday's game will hopefully be a great game, there is no winning the war, it is what it is, none of the other games matter at this point. I will leave you with this, the Ravens have done well this year and exceeded expectations, however, the Steelers are a better football team overall period. However, none of this matters, at this point, it is whoever shows up Sunday, I just think it will be the Steelers.

One other comment on the Raven haters, is anyone who doesn't root for the ravens considered this????? There are a number of other teams in the NFL that people can root for, doesn't always have to be your team. Ok, I am now leaving the Sandbox.:D

Well said; who was that idiot on the Ravens who put the Titans running back out of the game by trying to break him in half well after the whistle had blown?

Playing great defense is one thing, cheap shots and trash talking is a whole other matter............

Well, we got a real unusual line-up for the CG's. I'm a Baltimore supporter here but I really like seeing the Cardinal's in it. Unless I'm wrong, it's been 1948 since their last championship game and 1947 since their last championship. Always liked Kurt Warner. Wouldn't mind a Raven-Cardinal SB. All the remaining teams have had great runs and have won the big games they needed to get to the CG. Thank goodness the Steelers dumped the .500 Chargers. No .500 team should even be in the playoffs IMO. Let the carnage begin! -- lancer

I think the Cardinals win has to be the most amazing game that happened this weekend. It was conceivable that the Eagles would beat the Giants and that the Ravens would beat the Titans but I don't think, based upon their record and how they finished the season, that the Cardinals would beat Carolina. That was quite a shocker.

Let's just hope the Sunday games are entertaining.

Tubel, what you think about the Ravens doesn't much concern me then a fly on the wall, but I do know the Ravens are for some reason a hated team (more then others) outside of THE GREAT STATE OF MARYLAND, I have lived on both the east and west coast now and it's the same thing so no big surprise, you and I have been disagrreeing on this thread from the start college or pro so whatever dude...keep pulling for your steelers and I'll keep pulling for my Ravens, please don't leave the sandbox were having to much fun...Sammy

Well

The WASHINGTON REDSKINS are the best !

ok, ok, .... maybe next year ?

Well maybe it should be another matter and it used to be in the good ole days but now, it seems to come with the game. That doesn't mean I care for it, just that the Ravens are hardly the sole practicioners.;)
