football season is here!!!!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

Well the Titan rematch is here!!!!!!! tommorow's game in Tenneessee is gonna be a slober knocker, put the wife and kids to bed early, if you don't like blood, fighting, black and blue hitting well then don't watch this game, if my Ravens play defense like they have in the last three or four weeks and Flacco and the offense can put some points on the board then we should be o.k. but this will be a low scoring game, coming down to turnovers and field position, gooooooo ravens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

prediction

Ravens...16 ...Sammy
Titans....13

Sammy,
I would agree with your analysis minus one thing, if the Titans play the end of the 3rd and all of the 4th qtr like they played the Steelers and Flacco makes one mistake, score will be 31 to 16 (Same like as the Steelers). The Titans are a very streaky team, if they play up to their ability and get in the groove, they are a better football team and will win the game. The Ravens are much like the Steelers, great defense that finds a way to win, however, when the talent is equal or better on the opposite side of the field, the incredible interception, the terrific goal line stand, the open field saving tackle sometimes don't happen and you lose.

I have had different feelings all week, my prediction, MY Steelers and the Ravens both lose.

Just a gut feeling this time.

Tom,
Myself and the crew I watch the games with hope you are wrong on both counts as we all want to see Steelers/Ravens III, it will be a game for the ages, with the winner (survivor is more like it) going on and demolishing whoever the NFC sends to the big dance.

If the Steelers win the Super Bowl this year, they cement themselves as the greatest team of all time, with six Super Bowl wins and appearances in four strait decades (1970's, 80's, 90's and this new decade as well), plus 14 (wow, 14) AFCCG appearances.

Incredible if they can pull it off...........

I agree with every sentiment but one . . . demolish anyone the NFC sends? I seem to remember one NFC team beating both the Steelers and the Ravens this year . . .:D

George, Louis,

I hope you are right and Louis, it would be a fun Steelers Giants game! I just have a crappy feeling, Pittsburgh seems to have everything right going into this game, yet I feel sluggish about it. ALso, I am not sure we or anyone can beat the same team 3 times in one season, especially one that is nearly identical except for seniority at the quarterback position!

I will be the first to post, Baltimore's turnover takeaways won the game ALONG WITH a completely blown Delay of Game penalty on the biggest play of the game. Baltimore was lucky on that one. I am happy for Baltimore, but as a football fan, it is ridiculous the calls that are blown by the officials (and yes I said that on the Steeler touchdown in Baltimore this year).

Still, can't take anything away from the Ravens defense.

Tom,
You are right on both counts; that was a huge blown call that cost the Titans the game, but it never should have come down to that, three turnovers inside the 25 yard line and a missed field goal cost the Titans the game. They marched up and down the field and dominated on the stat sheet, but all that counts is the final score, which was 13-10 Ravens.

NBC showed an interesting stat that no #1 seed from either Conference has won the Super Bowl since 2004, the New England Patriots. Every #1 seed that has gotten to the Super Bowl the past 4 years has lost the game.

Ravens 2008=Giants 2007, they are on a roll and their defense makes the plays when they have to, but that offense had better step it up, 13 points ain't gonna cut it from here on out...............

Could be a Baltimore-New York rematch people. It is a 50 year anniversary afterall. Go Ravens! -- lancer

Roll on Ravens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you guys think a no call on a delay of game costs the Titans the game you all are crazy, and if you think those turnovers happened by themselves well I guess you didn't notice the hitting that was going on, but no matter here, were in the A.F.C. championship game, we (the ravens) never seem to get the deserved credit, maybe that's a good thing, all I know is were playing some great ball right now and can't wait to see the Steelers one more time, we gave the steelers the first game, and we lost on a blown call on the second, I am sure the steelers will beat the chargers so ...

baltimore...17
pittsburgh..13

bring it on!!!!!!!...SAMMY

I don't think you read our posts, we gave Baltimore all the credit in the world in regards to the turnovers.

I think the point is that the officials have outright for lack of a better word sucked this year and that is ridiculous. The Titans deserved to lose the way they turned the ball over and couldnt capitalize, no doubt. However, the Ravens had a great break with that call and yes that was a big missed call.

If I was a Ravens fan, I would want the Steelers too, reason #1 is that once you have played a team twice and beat them twice, it is nearly impossible to beat the same team a third time.

And please, don't bring that call up yet again, as Ray Lewis said, that call didn't beat us, the fact that Big Ben and the Steelers drove 90 yrds down the field beat us. Just like the 3 turnovers the Titans committed beat them.

Give me a break. The Titans shot themeselves in the foot yesterday and your offense blows. These two games have been pure gifts by the other team. Yeah, and when is that criminal going to start serving time for murder?

Ok, so a blown call on a delay of game did not cost the Titans the game, yet a blown call cost you the second game vs the Steelers?

Pot, meet kettle..................

The #1 and #2 seeds are dropping like flies, imagine if the Steelers and Giants both lose today (highly unlikely); it would set up iggles at cardinals, ravens at chargers...................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............

I have one question guys, how the heck did Carolina play that bad? I just don't get it. Del Homme threw 5 picks and fumbled the ball (which, in Del Homme's case is not that unusual), but the big question is, with everyone knowing that Del Homme is turnover prone, why the heck was he throwing the ball all day, and their excellent duo of running backs not jamming the ball down the Cardinals throat? They gave up on the run after their first possession, where they moved the ball right down the field and scored a touchdown. It was wierd, like the Cardinals defensive coordinator was calling the offensive plays for the Panthers. I know that's why they play the games, but I have never seen such a mediocre team look so good against a team far superior in every way except quarterback (Warner is better than Del Homme) and wide receivor (a wash, with Boldin out).

Brad,
I agree with a lot of this statement, but in the end, you just can't make that many mistakes and win. I am in a catch 22, I really don't root against the Ravens, but I would rather (if we can win today) not play them again, it is just too much to beat a team 3 times when the other team is that good.

As for Ray Lewis, he really made himself look bad by not coming forward in that whole situation a lot sooner. I don't think he committed murder, but he certainly was there and he certainly knew a heck of a lot more than he admitted right away. He finally told the whole truth which he should have done day 1.

"I have one question guys, how the heck did Carolina play that bad? I just don't get it."

Pretty simple really; some teams for whatever reason do not do well in the playoffs with a two week layoff. Iv'e heard the arguement of how it is so important to get the bye and have to only play two games to get to the Super Bowl vs three, but if you look at the past three Super Bowl Champions (Giants, Colts, Steelers), only the Colts were a high seed (#2) while the Giants and Steelers were the 6th seed.

There is something about getting on a roll in the playoffs..........

"Yeah, and when is that criminal going to start serving time for murder?"

Brad, I don't think you are going to have to worry about Ray too much longer, he has clearly lost a step and isn't the musclebound freak he used to be, he's lugging around a bit of a gut lately and looks soft IMO.........

If I said what I wanted to say, I'd be banned. Go Cards!

We'll see about that.

I got to see the Eagles beat the Giants, and I got to see my favorite scene in "Death Wish II", plus good beer and lentil soup with kielbasa. A great afternoon!

(Favorite scene in "Death Wish II":

Bronson confronts one of the creeps who killed his daughter, and sees that he wears a crucifix:
Paul Kersey: "You believe in Jesus?"
Creep (weeping): "Yes-yes, I do"
Kersey: "Well, you're going to meet Him"
(Blam-blam) )
