"Session 9" is a good horror flick from several years ago. Slow burn but it builds. Playing on Streampix.

"What are you doing here?"................

Very disturbing movie, creepy as Hell.

"The Night House" on HBO is a good horror flick. Not perfect but better than most new horror films. The scene where the wife goes outside in the dark and all these women start running out of the woods across her lawn was creepy.

That looks...............really twisted and messed up...................so, I gotta see it.............:wink2:

Saw the latest Halloween installment last night, picked up where the last one left off, Michael trapped in the basement of a Laurie's burning house.................didn't think I was going to like it.............actually I loved it.

Anthony Michael Hall played the part of Tommy, one of the kids Laurie babysat in the first one............wow, the years have not been kind to him.

He grew up in the same city I did as a kid, West Roxbury.................my parents plumber was his uncle, talk about a small world.

I remember he did over my parents bathroom in our house in West Roxbury, he gave me 10.00 to help him clean up.........which I used to buy my first six sets of Airfix ho/oo figures; Infantry Combat Group, DAK, 8th Army, WWI French, British and Americans, .69 cents each........that was the beginning of my love affair with toy soldiers..........................so this is all his fault.....^&grin

"X" is now on pay-per view. I watched it last night and it was pretty good. A 1970s-style Texas Chainsaw vibe. Not for the squeamish. Old Pearl is a real piece of work. They have apparently already made the prequel featuring her.

"Midnight Mass" on Netflix is a surprisingly good show. It starts out a bit of a slow burn, but I was hooked after the first 30 minutes. One of the many things that I've learned from horror movies/shows is never live on an island. That ranks up with there with asking "did you hear that?" and "let's check out the basement."

As a horror fan, I've across some really strange and often bad movies. But they broke the mold with "Grizzly II." There are no words to describe it. Suffice to say that it was made in the 1980s and has small roles for then unknown George Clooney, Charlie Sheen, and Laura Dern. The concert footage is a hoot. They apparently filmed that in Hungary unbeknownst to the crowd in attendance. It was so bad it took a couple decades to release.

My God what a dumpster fire that one was; the head ranger was the director of the broadway show from "Stayin Alive", the sequel to "Saturday Night Fever"........

What a horrible, horrible movie to say the least.

I watched one last night "Unhuman"....................thought it was going in one direction, then it did a 180, wasn't down with the plot twist, but in the end it wasn't a bad one.

"The Black Phone" is a decent horror flick. Playing on Peacock. Based on a Joe Hill (son of Stephen King) short story. A bit of Stranger Things meets Red Dragon meets The Shining. They really did capture the look of the 1980s time period. The guy who plays the Dad is a horrible actor but the kids were dead on.

"The Innocents" on AMC+ is a well done but grim horror flick. Sort of "The Bad Seed" meets "Carrie" only in some Nordic country. What is it about? Kids are creepy and sadistic when left to themselves. Beyond that you are on your own trying to figure it out.

"Titane" is one of the weirdest movies that I've seen in a long while. Pretty grim Euro-stuff. You have to watch out for those girls with titanium plates in their heads with hairpins. Not a good combo. {eek3}

What a perfect made for 1970s TV movie "Gargoyles" was. It was on Svengoolie last night. Fondly remember Jennifer Salt in her various halter tops. I'm surprised she didn't win an Academy Award for this one. :wink2:

That movie is one of my guilty pleasures; we don't get METV anymore, the station that carried it dropped it and no one else on my cable service picked it up.

Yet another reason to drop cable.

Yeah, my cable system dropped METV also. A great loss as that and TCM were my main 'go to' channels. Always loved the scene with the Gargoyle riding the top of the station wagon. What a hoot. -- Al

Yup and none of the other cable channels I've got picked it up.

Someone said to contact the station that carried it to complain.

Sure; sounds like a solid plan, I'm sure they'll get right on it.

I took the plunge and watched Rob Zombie's "The Munsters" on Netflix. If you drink 20 or so beers, it is actually kind of funny. Drink more than that and it is hilarious. It actually wasn't as bad as I anticipated and clearly pays homage to the original show with a lot of inside jokes. At one point Herman yells out for "Car 54" etc. Will it win any Academy Awards? I'm guessing not, but it is watchable. A thin line between stupidity and campy fun.

"Jeepers Creepers Reborn." What a disappointment even with low horror-film expectations. I'm a big fan of the first two JC movies and even the low budget third film, but this one is unwatchable. Like they have found a couple of lobotomized high school kids to write it and film using extras from MTV. It's so bad that OnDemand doesn't even list it for purchase even though it's a new movie. On the upside, the new "Hellraiser" and "Orphan" movies are supposed to be good.

I purchased it yesterday but haven't watched it. Seems like the more movies they make of a franchise the worse they get. Let's see how the Halloween movie is Friday.

I watched a movie called "X" last night.

Not sure where to begin on this one.........set in the 1970's, about a group of people who rent a cabin in Texas to film an X rated movie, they rented the cabin from an old couple and I mean OLD...............like two walking fossils.

Things to sideways from there...............pretty gory, pretty messed up as to who is doing the killing.

I think Doug floated this trailer awhile ago................creepy, gory and bizarre, if you're a horror fan, this one is right in your wheelhouse.

Just found out there is a prequel this one called "Pearl" and a sequel is in the works too.............

Oh Boy.

That's a pretty good one. My only knock is that they tried a bit too hard to make a 70s type horror movie. The prequel "Pearl" is supposed to be good. I think the director is the same guy who did "Innkeepers" and some others that were interesting (if somewhat slow) horror flicks.
