"The Pale Blue Eye" looks interesting. Not exactly horror per se, but along those lines. Netflix release before X-mas.

“West Point, 1830. In the early hours of a gray winter morning, a cadet is found dead. But after the body arrives at the morgue, tragedy becomes savagery when it’s discovered that the young man’s heart has been skillfully removed. Fearing irreparable damage to the fledgling military academy, its leaders turn to a local detective, Augustus Landor (Christian Bale), to solve the murder. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, Landor enlists the help of one of their own to pursue the case, an eccentric cadet with a disdain for the rigors of the military and a penchant for poetry—a young man named Edgar Allan Poe"

"Pearl" is an excellent prequel to "X." One of the few movies that genuinely creeped me out. Pearl is a kind of Lizzie Borden meets Norman Bates meets Gloria Swanson from Sunset Blvd. The scene where her friend asks her to explain why she is not feeling well is the best horror scene in years.

"Only Lovers Left Alive" an artsy vampire movie on HBO from a few years ago. Very slow paced but well acted. Disillusioned vampires in modern times. Probably the only movie in history to be set in Detroit and Tangier. A bit like "The Hunger."

"The House in Between." I admit to watching some of these ghost hunter shows for laughs. Mostly because some of the locations are interesting, but I don't believe in ghosts for a second. But this documentary has some interesting characters. They seem like nice people and not complete kooks. Are they pulling a hoax? Regardless, it is slow burn entertainment.

The plot of Terror Train 2 is fantastic. It is why I watch these silly horror movies. In TT2 we learn, for example, that if you were on a party train in which all your friends were murdered and you are suffering from PTSD, the only thing to do is to get back on that exact train with another group of kids.

"Duel" with Dennis Weaver was on TCM last night. Great 1970s movie. One of the first directed by Spielberg. It just goes to show that you can make a great movie with a simple premise. It has held up well and is more relevant today than perhaps when it was made with all the angry drivers.

M3GAN news:

Universal have confirmed today that an unrated version will be streaming exclusively on Peacock February 24, 2023.

"I Trapped the Devil" on AMC+ is a creepy little horror flick. Not particularly original but better than the average horror film.

"Infinity Pool" is a far-out movie. I bet the tourism businesses are not too pleased. Mia Goth is the new horror queen after "X" and "Pearl". She is good in this one.

"It Follows" is a good horror watch on Netflix. A curse is passed from person to person following a sexual encounter. When I first watched this it seemed to be about the risks of unsafe sex, but the more I read about it the theme is more about how death is always coming. Relentless and inevitable. It follows everyone. Not a very cheerful thought but it makes the movie more unsettling because of the absence of any control over the inevitable.

"Thanksgiving" is now on Netflix. A nice modern homage to the 80s slasher film. This trailer for "Sting" looks good as well:

Thanks for the tip, I watched Thanksgiving last night...................wow, what a gorefest, should have know Eli Roth was behind it.

Patrick Dempsey butchers the Boston accent, and wow Gina Gershon.............has not aged well.

Holy smokes.

It was a good movie, no doubt a sequel is coming.
