Started watching this series, it's about a town where it's not safe to be out at night, a couple and their two kids are in a camper and get in a crash and end up in the town.................and bad things start to happen when the "monsters" come out at night.

Doug, this one is right in your wheelhouse, the gore is, well.....pretty gory.

The premise is once you're in the town, you can't leave.

Sounds good. After watching the terrible new "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movie on Netflix, I could use a good gore fest. If anyone needs reminding how much the world has dumbed down, watch the Texas Chainsaw movie. It is bad in ways that I can't describe.

I watched the first five episodes. It gives me a Stephen King-vibe. Like "Under the Dome" meets "Salem's Lot." I like the fact that the characters are at least trying to figure out what is going on. Unlike "The Walking Dead" where no one seems to care why the world has been taken over by zombies.

Funny you mentioned "The Walking Dead"........I was one of that shows biggest fans, not big to the point where I buy the gear and go to comicon and drool over the cast members...................then I just lost interest. I think it was right around the time where they were in the subway and Negan left what's her name outside the subway car on purpose to die, I think it was around the time the other group got captured by the Star Wars characters.

I just lost interest, which is ironic as the series is wrapping up and part of me wants to see how things end, another part of me could give a **** less.

The part that could give a **** less won.

Still a Negan fan here, funny thing I also collect original signed memorabilia, have a signed Lucille replica! Acxtually thinking about selling it as I can't keep everything. Seems to be a good time to do so!

"It Follows" is a nice horror flick on Netflix. Came out a couple years ago.

Did you happen to catch "Antlers"..................holy smokes, what a gorefest that was..............the ending IMO is very good vs the standard crappy ending you often get with horror flicks.

Yes, I saw that one. Hit and miss. My top ten horror films (based on those that I can watch over and over again):

1) The Shining
2) The Thing (Carpenter's remake)
3) Evil Dead
4) Halloween (original)
5) Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (old Chop Top)
6) Phantasm
7) Dracula (original)
8) Friday the 13th (any of the first three)
9) Cat People (Natassia Kinski!)
10) The Fog

My top ten horror films (also based on those that I can watch over and over again):

1) The Mist (that ending; holy smokes)
2) Dawn of the Dead (remake; great movie with fast zombies)
3) Cabin Fever
4) Grindhouse
5) Resident Evil
6) The hills have eyes (remake)
7) Wrong Turn
8) The blob (remake)
9) Cabin in the woods
10) Halloween original (iconic movie, more jump scares that gore)

The Conjuring or Annabelle didnt make you guys list??

I always felt Alien was a superb horror flick as well as a Sci Fi movie.

The Fog stands the test of time- it is still terrifying.

When it comes to horror movies, I'm more into can't happen vs could happen, ie, the conjuring and Annabelle.........;).........

"Cracow Monsters" on Netflix is not bad. It is basically the Polish version of the Omen meets zombies/living dead with a lot of cool looking Euro-goths walking in the moody rain and atomsphere of Cracow. It's a slow burn to start. You probably don't want to watch it if suffering from depression because it is gloomy stuff.

The most interesting thing that I've learned from "Cracow Monsters" is that you can chase a bare arsed demon through the streets of Cracow in broad daylight and it doesn't even crack the top ten strangest things going on there. Everyone also dresses like a future school shooter.

"X" by Ti West looks like an old school 70s-style horror flick. I think it is only in the theatres as this point, though.

That looks...............really twisted and messed up...................so, I gotta see it.............:wink2:

Saw the latest Halloween installment last night, picked up where the last one left off, Michael trapped in the basement of a Laurie's burning house.................didn't think I was going to like it.............actually I loved it.

Anthony Michael Hall played the part of Tommy, one of the kids Laurie babysat in the first one............wow, the years have not been kind to him.

He grew up in the same city I did as a kid, West Roxbury.................my parents plumber was his uncle, talk about a small world.

I remember he did over my parents bathroom in our house in West Roxbury, he gave me 10.00 to help him clean up.........which I used to buy my first six sets of Airfix ho/oo figures; Infantry Combat Group, DAK, 8th Army, WWI French, British and Americans, .69 cents each........that was the beginning of my love affair with toy soldiers..........................so this is all his fault.....^&grin

This is also the 100th anniversary of the classic vampire movie "Nosferatu." Max Schrek's role as Count Orloff is still one of the creepiest of all time. Klaus Kinski did a remake that wasn't bad. Kinski was one of the craziest actors in history (which is saying a lot). His autobiography is a hoot. Every woman in history wanted to sleep with him according to him. He was in the German army during WWII. He was so hungry at one point that he contemplated eating a cow while it was still alive because he had no means to kill it. Aguirre had nothing on Kinski for ego.

George-
I'm still watching this series. Just watched episode 9. My only knock is how long they run the clips from prior episodes and then that theme song. It goes on for about 5 minutes. Thank goodness for FF.

Beyond annoying...............the **** really hit the fan last night, two main characters got bumped off...........what an imbecile that guy was......the ONE thing you can't do, and he opens a window.

I wonder what the plan is with this show, how many seasons do they intend to run it..............the concept is pretty cool, but you wonder about basic things like food, medical care, what's keeping the lights on, etc, etc....................last night was a good episode.

"Session 9" is a good horror flick from several years ago. Slow burn but it builds. Playing on Streampix.
