That's a pretty good one. My only knock is that they tried a bit too hard to make a 70s type horror movie. The prequel "Pearl" is supposed to be good. I think the director is the same guy who did "Innkeepers" and some others that were interesting (if somewhat slow) horror flicks.

You're always one step ahead of me on the latest horror movies..............;).................I DVR'd it and watched it late at night; big mistake....{eek3}

Creeped me out royally.......nice tip of the cap to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Boogie Nights.

Movie cost about a million bucks to make and grossed over 14 million.........

"The Watcher" on Netflix is pretty entertaining. Supposedly based on a true story. A lot of familiar faces.

"Smile" is apparently killing it (no pun intended) at the box office. I can never understand why Hollywood moved away from horror flicks. They always seem to do good box office. Even the bad ones. Maybe the themes are not PC. Similar story with westerns.

"Halloween Ends" turns out to be a good one. It pays homage to the original flick and adds some new twists. Jamie Lee really settled into her role as Laurie. Curious how this one does at the box office since it's available on Peacock. And good for them for not having commercials.

I didn't care for this myself.

"Terror Train" has been remade on Tubi. It's low budget and awful as you might expect but awful in a watchable way. Not unlike many bad horror films from the 80s.

Saw a movie called "Barbarian"......................it starts with a slow brew, you think it's going in direction, then..........WHAM!!!...............

Mother of God, talk about a plot twist.

It gets crazier and crazier along the way, the ending is extremely far fetched, but it's a horror movie, so.................

Worth a look, pretty messed up.

I finally got around to watching "Nope." That's an entertaining film. Oddly, the vicious chimp attack on the TV set really steals the otherwise Spielberg-like movie. That scene is pretty jarring. People who keep think chimps are cute pets are completely nuts.

"Smile" has surpassed $200 million at the box office. "Halloween Ends" has gone over $100 million despite being available on Peacock for free. Pretty good run for horror films. Maybe a reflection of the last couple of years in society.

Finally saw "Terrifier 2." Not for the faint at heart. I like the Clown character as a villain, but the violence is overly sadistic in nature. Even for a horror film. It's like Jack the Ripper meets Pennywise. The kid with the glasses is the most annoying kid character since "Dougie" from "Satan's Little Helper" (an oldie but goodie).

What a perfect made for 1970s TV movie "Gargoyles" was. It was on Svengoolie last night. Fondly remember Jennifer Salt in her various halter tops. I'm surprised she didn't win an Academy Award for this one. :wink2:

We always try to catch Sven, even though we rarely pay full attention. It's a recent tradition of sorts.

Since the whole family likes older Westerns & Mysteries, we watch a lot of those together.

Paddy in particular likes sci-fi: Doctor Who, Tom Baker Years in particular. Pat Sr. likes spy shows, preferably older ones but not always. Bond for sure.

All that takes most of our TV time other than a few documentaries and whatever seems interesting.

As to Tolkien movies/series; Pat Sr & Paddy like the LOTR trilogy - it's worth the silly departures from the books to see some of the artistic & faithful things they did. But we both like the books better. Most importantly, we all agree The Hobbit ain't close to what we read as kids...

Our 2+2=4cents,
Pat Sr & Paddy

I caught this one last night; holy smokes, a **** ton of jump scares.

Sort of a sad horror movie, felt bad for the main character, the birthday present you could see coming from a mile away, but it was still a great scene......................I wonder if there will be a smile 2, you'd think so....................the ending bummed me out.

Of all the deaths in this movie, my son was most concerned with the cat whose name he even somehow learned. The plot reminded me of "It Follows" which I thought was an even better movie. "Smile" made a ton of money, so for good or ill I'm sure there will be a sequel.

"Wednesday" is pretty decent on Netflix. The best part is the girl who plays "Wednesday" Addams. She really nails the character.

I had no clue that the actress who plays "Wednesday" on the Netflix series is the same one who played in "X." She is really good.
