I got some gabions and decided to make an artillery battery diorama...
I used some JJD Plains of Abraham French Artillery Crew members to show it off...

You're right, Mark :wink2:
A very professional job again, Michael.
Looks great :salute::
Konrad

...bravo!!!! Very very nice Mike, as usual great attention to detail.

If I can, where you got these excellent gabions?

Carlo

Geat scene Mike with such care for details, boards at base of the embrasure, plants, etc. Outstanding scene. Chris

Wonderful Scene and Photos. Your ground treatment is a perfect match for the JJD ground painting. An aside point, the depth of field on your photos really is good for a point and shoot camera.

Great work Michael {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Your Gabion Wall Artillery Embrasure would not look amiss in a Crimean War diorama with a few glossy figures and a gun or two :wink2:

Cheers

Martyn:)

Carlo...here is a link to the gabions...

I thought those were Bayardi's gabions! I have a set of them myself. His diorama pieces are excellent and he's well-established, has been making resin diorama accessories for years. I have one of his fountains, too. I recommend them highly.

Mike, this is a beautiful diorama, well done!

Prost!
Brad

Well you are off to a good start for this New Year Michael . . . . As always, a very good show . . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Hi Mike,
I love the rampart. What material did you use to cover the gabions and enbankment?
Thanks
Benjamin

thanks Benjamin...Chris...Wayne...Ken...Martyn...Jeff...Joe...Brad and Mike...

Benjamin...it's just sheet moss and dirt from the flower bed run through a grinder...

Hi Mike,
Happy New Year!
Great dio....Did you make the Gabions yourself? Your diorama building skills are impressive!

Pete

...I wouldn't know where to begin on making them...even if I found a miniature weaving class...

I haven't tried this myself, Mike, since Armand's gabions are available, and others, but I've got a concept about using a disk of thick styrene card or resin, drilling holes around the perimeter, and then inserting pieces of brass rod, wire or toothpicks, and then using either pieces of dried grass, or styrene strip for the wicker. The center could be filled with putty, or at least topped off with putty, leaving them hollow to save weight. I'm giving this one to you, if you'd like to try it ;)

Prost!
Brad

Brad...my original idea was to find a cylindrical item (pvc tube, tin can, spool etc...) cut it to the size of a gabion...and glue some cut out scraps of these wicker wozen style baskets I saw at Hobby Lobby...then paint if needed...

I cheesed out and just bought these instead...^&grin...I'm getting lazy...
