Gary's collection (3 Viewers)

Great looking pics, Gary, so thanks for posting them.
Not to sound vulgar, but your images must have sold a veritable ton of product for TS manufacturers over the years:salute::

And no commission!

Although many years ago Thomas Gunn did send me a free ME109 plane for Christmas and some free figures from the now sadly demised Empire Miniatures also came through at around the same time. A free writers copy of the toy soldier magazines I write for also pop through the letter box from time to time. I also get the occasional thank you email from manufactures and some nice postings on this forum as well.

But we 'artists' don't do it for the fame on money do we?

I have been a little behind with my collecting due to an enforced sabbatical but a few odds and sods flew into Tassie this week.

Just some Team Miniatures Teutonic knights came down to Tasmania this week. Nice figures though and go well with the TM Mongols.

That's how they roll in Tassie!

Naughty naughty, these should have been under the tree for the excitement tomorrow. My Cortes left New York, never comes that way, should have been LA and of course it is now in Japan. Australia still along way for it to travel. Expect it to go back to America and than to me sometime in February. Par for the course this year. Have a great Christmas Gary. Robin.

Have a great Christmas too Robin. Have you thought of using Aus dealers. My figures arrive fairly quickly. Gary

Amazing collection Gary. You must have two houses, one for the collection and one to live in

Unfortunately most of the collection is in storage in New Zealand. But I am running out of space in our apartment in Hobart. The plan is to leave Tasmania in a year or so and sell our apartment here. Then go back to New Zealand for a few years and then sell our house there. Move back to the UK sell our house there and buy another property in the UK with the stipulation that there must be an outbuilding to turn into an area where I can display my complete collection. That's the plan but plans have a habit of changing - but one day I will display them all!

It been a little while but the first parcels of 2021 started to arrive this week down under in Tassie. Thomas Gunn really do some wonderful figures with there more limited releases these days. The Teutoburg Forest diorama is starting to build up nicely with the arrival of the ox wagon and a few more figures. I added in a few John Jenkins Germans just to pad it out. The WW2 German artillery is a crowd pleaser and i am sure was popular with collectors and while I don't get much Zulu War stuff these days (due to a large Britain's collection in my possession) I do pick up the odd figure from TG just to pad out the ranks.

The John Jenkins WW1 bus full of Aussie passengers was a prize from John and it was an item I have always coveted and so I was very pleased to receive it. I am determined this year to pick up a little more K&C and some Japanese cyclists as they are being retired were added. I love the colour of the John Ford style cavalry and i am determined to get a few more to make an interesting small diorama.

Much is on the horizon with some great releases already coming out and for me diversity is the name of the game as I delve into whatever takes my fancy.

Stay safe and hears to a brighter 2021.

Gary
