Gary's collection (1 Viewer)

A few eclectic items flew into Tassie in and around the Easter break. I was away for a week on holiday and parcels were left on my doorstep for sometime but remained untouched perhaps proving Hobart is a safe place to live!

A beautiful duo for my Teutoburg Forest scene, a couple of 24th foot (although I have tones of figures from this conflict I cannot resist adding just a few more), a bookend to my WW2 collection with TG's excellent Japanese surrender, some French WW2 infantry to add to the retreat to Dunkirk scene and possible the best figures with a couple of mounted K&C ECW cavalry. I didn't go for these when they first came out as I had lots of other makes which were smaller in scale. After this purchase I am going to get more. They are wonderful colourful and vibrant figures and I have ordered another 6 straight away. They deserve a place on my toy soldier shelves. And last of all a stay JJD mountain man figure as the new boat will make for a wonderful diorama.

Have ordered some of these TG figures, but finding their way to Adelaide always takes longer it seems. I was surprised you have the Japanese side of the surrender set, they are not released yet, so you are a VIP and so you should be with the amount of business you give them. As a matter of interest does the sitting figure come away from the chair? I have all the K&C ECW figures and I too especially like the mounted figures. My local dealer has plenty in stock. Gary you have one of the best collections going. Robin.

Ah Robin I get them from TG direct with 10% off and free fast shipping. The Japanese side of the surrender came in just as they were posting out so they slipped them in. The man is stuck to the seat I am afraid. I expect some First Legion figures I ordered will take an age to arrive from the States. Gary

Ok here we go again. Some excellent (in my humble opinion) arrivals to soothe the soul after a busy week in the Tasmanian capital. A lovely colour sergeant from the 24th foot, remind you of anyone! My first William Britain acquisition for quite some time. More pike and musket from King & Country and really grateful to have two more mounted Roundheads. My US cavalry patrol is taking shape with the guidon bearer.

John Jenkins superb Carthaginian Marine Officer, so colorful and full of action, and what can you say about the El Cid figure - simply stunning. Another Norman, 11th New York infantry, Conquistador and a return to the late republican Roman army with this command set. Building up for the keelboat another mountain man.

A couple more William Britain figures with a Saxon to give more variety to the Hastings shield wall while another Viking Raven Standard bearer will add to the eclectic collection of Norseman warriors that I have.

Lastly the First Legion sale items are thinning out and I grabbed the last two Polish Winged Hussars that I needed to complete the set of 14 mounted figures. 9 are in New Zealand with 5 in Tassie - all together they make a wonderful gorgeous crimson display. I added the final two figures to the German mercenary cannon during the renaissance period.

And that was it for this week - hoping to get some Team Miniatures soon.

Gary,

just amazing figures, beautifully photographed!👍👍. Your collection is one of the most varied and impressive I’ve ever come across!😎😎

A large parcel of Team Miniatures arrived earlier this week. I continue to be really impressed with their figures, cost, packaging and subject matter. Sculpting and painting is of a good quality for the price paid. Let's hope the Columbus range sells well enough to ensure the Bahamas natives Indians appear. Next month the much anticipated Rough Riders Gatling gun and the following month those colour full Franco/Prussian War Algerians should be on the way.

A few JJD flew in this week. Some nice figures as usual but the two mounted El Cid range figures missed the flight. I am looking forward to getting these in a few weeks. I got another Germanic Warrior that goes well with the very gradual build up of Thomas Gunn Teutoburg Forrest range.

A little eclectic this week as some joy flew into Tasmania. Cold Steel Miniatures are great value reasonable quality figures from Chester in the UK. They focus on the Napoleonic Peninsular campaign and it got me watching those old episodes from the Sharpe series. The prices excluding VAT are great and in less than a week I have 5 Empress Dragoons and 4 French infantry. Having not purchased from this manufacturer before I will certainly be back for more. Some of the British infantry look rather good and at prices that can't be beat.

I continue to chip away at the K&C Pike and Musket range with two more mounted Roundhead troopers while one of the stray JJD El Cid range figures made it in just in time for the weekend. It is a splendid mounted figure and well worth the wait.
