Generation War on SBS. (2 Viewers)

Wayne,
Thanks for pointing this one out. Saw first episode on SBS last night.

Very good series. Whilst his company are celebrating the easy advance into Russia and even planning to live there the younger brother keeps quiet. He is smart enough to knows things not going to go well. Meanwhile his older brother the Lt gets drawn in to doing things he would not normally have done.

Looking forward to last two episodes. Hopefully SBS will re-run first episode.

Brett

Yea sort of gets you in following the 5 people's lives inter woven who were best friends before the war. So far the locations/acting all very believable, looking forward to the next two episodes. Robin.

Anyone in the US have recommendations on where to find it or watch it?

Music Box Films owns the distribution rights in the United States. You are not going to see it on American
television until they see fit. Right now they are showing it in mainly Art theaters and at Film Festivals.
Here is the Part I [of two parts] theatrical release schedule. Few opportunities. Probably because
they charge too much. They are going to bile it for months. Click on the Theaters Bar at top right.

Your only immediate choice at this point and the foreseeable future is invest in a Region Free DVD/Blu-ray player
and order the DVD from a foreign source. Region Free players can be purchased from $100 to $1000. I have an Oppo
which I like very much. Mainly because it has a PAL converter built in. Do not get one with the PAL converter
separate. Use Google to find one.
Also eBay.

Once you have a Region Free Player you can order from Germany [only in German, no English sub-titles] or
France [dubbed in French, no English sub-titles].

The best choice for me was to order from Australia, where it will be released on DVD with English
sub-titles on 12 February 2014. Here is a source for Australian Video. I have had nothing but good service
from EzyDVD and JB Hi-Fi. I ordered two sets for around AU$45.00 each, whatever that is. Or you can wait until
12 February and look on eBay. eBay has several Australian sellers. A bit higher in cost.

I watched the first episode last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I missed the first 20 minutes or so but I got a general idea what it's about.

FWIW for those in the U.S. those multi region NTSC/pal DVD players can be found in some of the Asian stores for about $80.

Darn that trailer looked good!....totally missed it now I guess..SBS is one of those channels I never check out.
Will have a look the next time I walk into a JB Hi-Fi.....like to check out there DVD tv series section.

Try this... Google SBS on demand and click on programs and you'll find it, you can then watch it via your PC. Should work world wide...I think :rolleyes2:

Yep, if number 2 pans out to be good, may consider the upcoming February release of the DVD $46. Robin.

Lots of twists and turns in 2 and reasonable amount of action, certainly want to see the final one next week to see how it all comes together. Robin.

I have this on disc when it was in its original title which, IMO was much better. Not sure why they felt it had to be changed but, it is a superb series

Didn't know there was another version.

I watched the second episode last night and I was glued to the TV the whole time. Awesome story, great acting and the action was brilliant. I liked the scenes when the train carrying Tiger tanks passed the stationary train and the Tigers advancing forward when the battle of Kursk started. Im assuming the producers used CGI to create all these Tigers as we all know that real Tiger tanks are hard to come by and the Tigers in the movie looked like the real deal.
