In January of 2024, I decided to make a layout to use for my growing collection of WB WW2 figures and vehicles as well as to create a railroad short line. I have always liked toy trains and toy soldiers. I decided to combine railroad and soldiers into a single layout. I also wanted to make the layout expandable, as functional as possible and could be used for both daytime and nighttime scenarios. The project has had a number of challenges such as design input changes, verification and validation issues. I should be complete with the layout by this summer. The layout is divided into 4 areas, the Dock, AA batteries, Railyard and City Street. The timeframe for the layout is late fall/early winter of 1944. The layout location and buildings are a mixture of elements from a number of German cities such as Munich, Nuremburg, Kiel and of course Berlin. Thought I would start with sharing some images of the Dock area which was finished first. Part of the original design was to have a railroad bridge going over a body of water. That ended up with a Dock area scene that included a damaged railroad bridge, dock area with a custom-made S Boat that will be used with modified WB figures. The dock lamps, bridge lamps and buoy marker lamps all light. I decided to have the boat run dark. Will show the detailed images of the AA batteries next. Let me know if you have any questions.
