Capt A.E. Dana deploys E Company, 8th Illinois Cavalry, Gamble's Brigade, Buford's Division, in skirmish line July 1st along the Chambersburg Pike. A fight ensues with the skirmishers of the 5th Alabama Battalion (4 cos), Archer's Brigade, Heth's Division. The Union troopers conduct a fighting withdraw against superior numbers. Chris

Many thanks for the comments and like votes guys, really appreciated. Just noticed CO E is carrying the F troop guidon. :rolleyes2: Oh well, the rest of the squadron came up in short order. Chris
