Gettysburg / Gods and Generals (1 Viewer)

Let me correct myself--union (and I believe some confederate) sharpshooters did wear green uniforms for the purpose of camouflage.

The Georgia Clinch rifles wore green. Has anyone heard of the new jersy "Buterflys" they had great uniforms

WELLINGTON

Hi Rubber Gum-Boot, :):)

I assumed you were also having a bit of fun when you said I'm a pain in the @ss somewhere back in this thread. This was the reason why I didn't bite. Also glad to see that some Canadians do actually exist who respect the fact that others are perfectly entitled to their opinions, and don't try to ram their own views down other peoples throats.

Best Regards
Heid

Does anyone know whether Ted Turner will finally complete the trilogy with the last installment of this great Civil War film series? I heard a couple of years ago that the last film in this series was to end with the surrender at the Appomattox Courthouse. It was an admirable undertaking and I hope we get the final installment. It would be nice if they also, follow through with more often than not, the same cast portraying the main characters. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

Bringing this thread back to it's OP I happened on Jeff Shaara's web-site whilst browsing the net last night. The following may interest some of this threads posters.

Regarding "The Last Full Measure"

Many of you have written, asking if the film version of this book is being produced, to complete the Civil War trilogy. Unfortunately because of poor box-office results for "Gods and Generals" Ted Turner has dropped all plans to finance a film version of "Last Full Measure". Someone else may step forward, but so far, no one in Hollywood has shown any interest. Despite the many rumours to the contrary, I'm sorry to say that the film is not in the works.

Sounds pretty final- unless of course we all stick a couple of $'s in the hat and start a collection and call it "We tree-froggers want this film made fund". Just an idea guys! and here's another one; we all write to Turner and say we would even accept him playing the role of US Grant!!!!!!! Noooooo! only kidding- best we leave that one dormant.

I don't know if anyone is familiar with a place called Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico--It is a fantastic place. Ted Turner keeps trying to buy it out so he can have a continuous tract of land running from Canada to Mexico. He's a wierd guy.

Hmmm....The DVD of G&G's I have runs for about 5-1/2 hours UKReb. Guess its cos its one I picked up here in China - which suggests its a pirate (shock, horror). I really enjoyed it although I think Gettysburg was a bit more even-handed.
Just my 2RMB's worth like.
:)

UKReb, Capitol Ron, Et Al,

I'm sorry to disappoint, but after hours of intense interogation, Missus Heid hasn't cracked. She claims she's no idea where my old copy of G&G's is - although I'm certain it's been "loaned" out.:mad:
I've had a quick look in a few stores but can't find it for sale. Shall continue my hunt, but am becoming more convinced that I won't find it. :(:(
I have, however, found something called "The Blue And The Grey" which comes as a 3-DVD set. I'll get back to you guys once I've had a chance to watch it.

Sorry
H
