I wonder if Conte has just given up on their playsets? Every 3 years or so they get a few of their better D-Day playsets in, which they quickly sell out of. Take for example sets 6 and 7 not the "Busting the Bocage" set, but the really good sets. I dare to presume that pratically every D-Day set other than "Busting the Bocage" would sell out simply because of the terrain pieces that caome with them. If they are not gonna restock the sets, maybe with enough requests they would release for sale the terrain pieces from all their playsets. They regularly sell for good prices on eBay and should be relatively easy to keep in stock. I mean come on: squirt some foam into a mold, pull it out and trim it, through a little paint on it or not!! and you're ready to go. Sorry to rant, but I would like to pick up some of their awesome terrain pieces before I shuffle off this mortal coil!!!!!

I wish Conte would restock there ZULU WAR playsets or better yet just sell the foam pieces as stand alone items.... the molds must only be collecting dust by now..

Conte's terrain is nice, but he's being left in the dust by newer pieces from Hobby Bunker, Build-a-rama and several others. His figures are top-notch in plastic but with production costs rising - don't hold your breath. Mr. Conte WANTS to produce all the stuff he has promised, but as a businessman he CAN'T get them made.

The Spartans metal and plastic are (I think you will agree) the best and the most inspired that Conte has produced in a while. The sales on those figures have to be encouraging for him. Hopefully the sales will infuse the necessary production expenditures. And we will see more of our favorites soon.

You know I agree. Are you ready for some Athenian/Argive/Thebians:confused::eek:;):D?

"I wish they would restock their paratroopers.....I have been waiting for months."

I had several sets of these at the show on my tables Sunday, guess you must have missed them................

Couldn't agree more with the OP on this one; some nice terrain items have come out lately, but I'm sorry, nothing holds a candle to Conte, specifically the farmhouse pieces, the barn with the lift off roof and hedges to either side, the stone bridge, the bunkers and pillboxes, the two superb buildings in the first D-Day sets, and last but certainly not least, the church and priory.

Ken Osen sculpted all of these and he did a superb job, they are second to none and it is a crying shame they are not commercially available.

Maybe someday.......

He's probably at the Ferrari dealer picking out a new color.:D

It would seem producing military miniatures is not a priority.

It is a shame, but what are you going to do?

I think Ferrari's only come in red

Don't know about car colors, but I know that the Spartans come in different colors and I just pre-ordered the silver ones, saw them at OTSN, they are pretty.

If he is not dedicated to miniatures then why did he blow all plastic competition out of the water with the plastic spartans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Actually you can get them in any color you like......its just not a good idea.

Red is the most popular, and valuable in the resale market, and a lot of

people play in the market buying, trading, establishing a relationship with the

dealers.

There is a dealer close by me, across the street from my favorite Harley

dealer. The cars are really cool but not really designed to be driven on the

street.

Below the dealership is a storage area where many people store their cars!

Last time I was down there we saw at least 50 cars including two Enzo's.

One had receintly been purchased on Ebay and left at the dealer when the

new owner discovered his "Great Buy" needed $25,000 worth of work to get

it running.

A tune up can run you $6,000 to $8,000 and an oil change $2,400 which

some owners do after each time they use the car.

We saw a fellow take delivery on a 360 he drove it around their little test

track a couple of times then had it loaded into a closed car carrier for the

trip to his home in Atlanta.

Even my wife likes them, but who wants a car you can't drive?

Hmmm maybe with the bailout.........we could all get one?:D

Just my two cents. None of us are walking in his shoes to know what he's currently dealing with. I'm sure your all aware of the moving of his warehouse but not aware of what has yet to be done to complete it. They're members of the forum who I'm sure took advantage of his moving sale and made out like bandits. Like WBritain I'm sure he's running into production problems but you must admit although he ran a little late on delivering the Spartans he was pretty much on target after notifying you that they were at the factory and in production. He's pretty much on target with the bronze and Silver ones. I'm greatful he's decided to revisit the Zulu War and looking forward to the new sets and figures but I can understand that they're unforseen events that may cause delays. We've no idea what both Conte and WBritain have to deal with to get their procucts to us. They are not based out of China which give those who are a major advantage. Remember guys both Conte and WBritain have to submit their figures across the choppy seas wait for return samples to be approved. I've a good hunch RC is aware of what's being said and comment on the forums and where ever possible is working hard to grant our needs. I guess I'm a little fed up with what I feel is the Conte bashing that appears every now and then and harped on. I know most agree that he puts out some of finest figures in the market today and has given us quite a selection of products to chose from. So give him a break and some slack along with support and I'm sure he'll do that's in his power to make us happy. Got a hunch I'll be getting some flack for this....The Lt.

I also agree Lt. that is buisness you can't expect him to just roll out new sets without bringing in profit that would drive Conte Collectibles into massive debt. If you check the website reguarly you would know that he did not attend O.S.T.N. because his son is starting school in France. I think it is rather honorable of him to place his family first. But that is just me.

I like Conte products and when I first started collecting I would not buy anything but Conte.(I did end up buying a few Britains ACW )My first toy soldiers as a collector was Don Troiani's Lions of the Roundtop by Conte.I just brought another set of this last month as I missed having it.He is still having sales on his website.

All great points.........BUT>.............. let me tell you a little bit about why I am irritated to "high H***" at this point. Biggest pet peeves:

1. I have an outstanding order from my club renewal of August 2005 for Club set CCC21 (Saxons). RIDICULOUS that it is over 3 years later. I know of another forum member with an outstanding order since 2003. Both of these orders have been prepaid.

2. Alamo Gun Set - if he made 50 sets, that is generous, NO restock since relase.

3. AM Rev Gun Set - see #2

4. Pirate Ship - PROMISED SINCE 1998. STILL NO SHIP.

Why am I so irritated? Well, you support a company by buying the above ranges, yet the Pirates are WORTHLESS without the ship. And the club figure issue is ridiculous.

I do love his stuff, but it is hard to marry a range that you can never get. Have you noticed how many dealers either don't carry the line or gave up on it? That says a lot in my book. I am also not the only one with the above experiences.

TD in reference to the Club figures you still have a selection coming that you can chose from that's available in stock. I'm sure your aware of the following that applies to the Collectors Club figures which is posted on his web site and in his Collectors Club Flyer for membership Flyer for 2003-2005.

While supplies last. We reserve the right to substitue other products in the unlikely event that we are "out" of something you've opted for. As all Collector Club figures are of limited editions, we sooner or later are going to "run out" of something which someone wants.

I can't comment on the gun sets and it's something RC is better suited to address.

As to his Priate Ship it seems that it made soon be available and again it's something RC should address.

Once again TD it's my two cents worth.....The Lt.
