I'm not saying Gary anyone's making things up but I'm sure there's alot more of his clients who are more that are happy for what he's done for them.....The Lt.

Ya have to give credit to Conte for one thing he has done a good job at juggling both metals and plastics not to many makers have done that.
apart from maybe "Brtains" :)

TD in reference to the Club figures you still have a selection coming that you can chose from that's available in stock. I'm sure your aware of the following that applies to the Collectors Club figures which is posted on his web site and in his Collectors Club Flyer for membership Flyer for 2003-2005.

While supplies last. We reserve the right to substitue other products in the unlikely event that we are "out" of something you've opted for. As all Collector Club figures are of limited editions, we sooner or later are going to "run out" of something which someone wants.

I can't comment on the gun sets and it's something RC is better suited to address.

As to his Priate Ship it seems that it made soon be available and again it's something RC should address.

Once again TD it's my two cents worth.....The Lt.

I would have gladly picked another club set had they not kept promising verbally on the phone that 21 was arriving. Everytime I renewed, I tried to just call it even, and they said, no pick the other 3 normally, your 1 backorder is coming soon. For the record, I used to renew on the date of expiry of previous year, so when I renewed in 2005, the Saxons were just announced and it was called a preorder. IE, it should have come in by now. The other problems I have are what they are, but the Club figure is the most irritating and the reason I am all but done.

Lt. as I,ve stated over and over again, Conte has produced the best plastic figures, EVER!
But if you have been around since 1999 when Conte first began, he has done some things over the years to truely alienate people, although I,m not one of them. And I will say there has been nothing lately.
I didn,t post the previuos thread to bash RC, I just wanted to point out RC is not without sin when it comes to dealing with collectors.
I hope I,m wrong on this, but I really don,t think we will ever see again a true Conte playset, the likes of Warlord, DDay, etc.
My plastic hopes now rely on TSSD, of which they hope to have the new figures out by Thanksgiving, and another new set in time for the West Coaster.

I can understand and share your frustrations. It is annoying and inconsiderate for Conte not to be able to give any information or updates on restocking of non-retired items. Of course delays in restocking that run into years are a similar bain. I love his work and I will buy what I can for the periods I like but he makes it difficult to be loyal to his products and it cannot help the company bottom line to have these issues. I have all but given up on additional metal spartans and only hope that the lively interest in the plastic ones perks things up for the future.

I once again agree with the Lt. Do I get frustrated yes, but it turn it into excitement of thinking what Conte might be coming out with! Once again this is R.C.'s business not yours, if your so dissatisfied with his buisness go start your own. Gentlemen I mean this in the most respectful way but stop your bickering. I won't change anything, first off R.C. has done a good job at producing some of the finest metal sets and the BEST PLASTIC SETS! Secondly, maybe it is no longer in stock because it was discontinued, lastly we don't know what hassles Conte puts up with.

Well, I personally am holding out hope that someday the Alamo will be completed. You have to hold out hope even when it seems hopeless. If I could predict the future I'd play the winning Lotto numbers. I will agree that sometimes it is fun to speculate especially when there aren't exactly open lines of communication. I wonder who the patron saint of toy soldiers is?

I love Conti stuff. I have all the ships and just picked up some Civil War.
I'll be doing more stuff to.

I know a lot of people have given up on RC,but we just have to grab what we can when he has it in stock. He does need a public relations director.

I don't think there is any bickering here on my part. I simply stated the facts as they apply to me. Again, let me reiterate my points:

1. I LOVE his stuff.

2. I am frustrated at being told for 3 plus years that my order will be filled.

3. I am frustrated at being told for 2 to 3 years that the gun sets will be out soon (restocked)

4. I am frustrated for 10 YEARS that a Pirate ship is coming......

I do not call this bickering, I call it Facts. While I sympathize with any troubles they may be having, they need to let it be known one way or the other. They make good stuff, but the execution/delivery is horrid at times and that again is fact, not argument. I think if you take a poll of 100 collectors, dealers, you will get the same general sentiment 85% of the time............ Great figures/playsets, but horrible reliability.

How long have you dealt with Conte? I was/am a supporter since he opened his doors, still am, but I believe the above would cause any reasonable person to be fed up.

Can't argue any of your points Tom.Seems everybody has a love/hate relationship with him.Love his products, hate his service.

I was told once that RC is very wealthy. He had items

made for him, then was encouraged to produce them to sell.

This to me explains the situation that has existed for years.

First, the aspects of putting together production, packaging, warehousing,

shipping, payroll are far more attractive to a man trying to make his first

million.

Second I heard a few people gave him a hard time at one of the Chicago

shows, how much guff would you take if you were a multi-millionare?

People love his products......look at this conversation.

I have his Church & Priory and they are really great (Thanks to Ken Osen

for the wonderful design).

If I was looking for an answer to his production problems, I would consider

the following which was taken directly from Conte's Website.

"Cost of new molds has not gone down and the size of the playset collecting

community has not sufficiently increased to defray those costs".

Speaks volumes.

Perhaps he's sailing around the world, or climbing Mt Everest, Obviously

something else has caught his interest.

He's still planning new ranges as you can see with the new Zouaves and Zulus. The Spartan range, metal and plastic are one of the finest ever made.

With all due respect mate, I am not bickering and how or what I buy and what I say about it is my business.;):) I think I am entitled to make candid and fair observations if you don't mind. If may be his business but how he satisfies the demand he creates is the customer's business as well. I am not so dissatisfied I will not buy more, as I am doing now but I do reserve the right to call them as I see them and if that offends someone, well they will have to deal with it I suppose. No one here is disputing the quality of his work, just the stocking and communications. And, if something is discontinued, it would not be asking too much to have that stated; on the contrary, on the site and if you call, the message is always, "we have no idea". However much I like his work and however much I have defended him myself, that is not a very constructive approach to any business.

I am not saying calling what you say is bickering, I am saying, using the idea that he produces figures for himself is foolish, the cost for one run would be so high. And attacking him on personal things such as: And I am not seeing if he is rich that is a problem, and so what if he is at a Ferrari dealer good for him, it is his money let him do with it and if he can afford it go ahead once again it is his money! And I think if you talked with R.C. each day you would see how upset he is as the next person about not being able to produce alot of what he wants to add to the hobby.

Vick

Vick I can assume by your previous post that you are a young man. You have the time to wait for Conte to produce all he has promised.
I for one am getting long in the tooth and don,t have the years ahead of me to wait.
Gary

Is it so much cheaper in China to produce and paint figures? There is no place else on earth that can do this. Not the U.S.?,or Canada,Mexico,Europe,South America,India,Africa,Australia,N.Z.,Indonesia.S.E.Asia?No where else?
