Heco Tinplate Models (3 Viewers)

Pleasure. Those were the only ones you sent, right?

That's a neat looking truck, Louis. Appears to go well with the JJD ambulance. -- Al

Hi Louis

Very nice piece, I didnt know Tommy Atkins made this. Ive just acquired the Scale Link horse drawn version in kit form when I get time I will be making it up in superior gloss for my own collection, when I have I will post some pics. Btw havent forgot your pilot will be finished this week.

Regards John

Thanks John! I know how busy you are with requests, and didn't think you forgot about me.:smile2:

I just picked up an extremely cool Bengurion RAF Tractor pulling a "Tall Boy" Bomb on a cart, presumably to load into the belly of a Lancaster Bomber. Photos to follow upon receipt.^&cool

I had my sights firmly fixed on this beauty via eBay but right before my eyes Darth Badolato swooped in and she was gone...

Whoops! Sorry Mark!:redface2: I was the only bidder, so I asked the seller if he wanted to do a "buy it now" for a higher price, and he did. I was actually out picking up my daughter when he relisted it with the buy it now, so you had about half an hour to steal a march on me and snag it. When I got home, I hit buy it now and its on its way to my airfield.

No worries as I know the set has a great home. Still might have to strafe Long Island with help from the "LO Squadron"! See you soon in Chicago.

Tally Ho,
Marc

Gentleman, there is a very nice early production Heco Tinplate Models Fokker DR1 Triplane in the Red Baron's markings on ebay with a buy it now for $249. I am not the seller, and I already have a few of this particular model. Any one collecting Heco Tinplate Models who doesn't have their classic Triplane should take this opportunity to snap one up.:smile2:

The excellent Bengurion RAF Tractor and Tallboy Bomb on cart have taken up residence on my RAF airfield diorama. I will forward photos to Brad with a polite request that he post them on this thread.:smile2:

Couldn't buy any Heco Tinplate stuff at the OTSN (although I have a few leads and a good friend chasing some for me), but when I got back to my room after the show, I found I had won an ebay auction for another, different version of the SE5a. I am also waiting to hear on a cool piece of Heco WWI Armor. Photos will follow upon receipt of the new biplane.:wink2:

I haven't received confirmation yet, but according to the website the Heco Tinplate Models WWI British Mark IV Tank sold for a little more than half of my high bid, so I think I bought it as well.:smile2:

Marc,

It was great hanging out with you at the OTSN, and as I said, when you are ready, you come by the airfield for a strafing run, either at the Symposium or whenever you can make it to New York, and you will be leaving with the Tractor and Tallboy, as part of the hospitality.:wink2:

Well, as I feared, I got screwed by Bonham's Auctions. Our good friend, Mike Tarantino had been kind enough to let me know that a Heco WWI British tank was for auction on their site. I contacted the person in charge of the auction, a guy named Leigh Gotch, to place the bid. After keeping me waiting for more than a week (and a second, follow up e-mail), Mr. Gotch told me to open an account on the website and place the bid that way. I did so immediately, and my bid (for up to nearly twice what the Heco Tank sold for) is noted on my on line account.

The item sold for slightly more than half of my authorized bid, but when I didn't hear from Bonhams I feared the worst. I again e-mailed Mr. Gotch, and three days later he got back to me, with an e-mail saying "you did not win the item, was your bid confirmed?" When I pointed out that my bid (placed in August, three weeks before the auction) still appears on my on line account, I got a return e-mail saying basically, sorry, next time you want to bid, contact Bonhams directly, don't rely on the website.

It obviously isn't the end of the world, but I was a bit disappointed.:(
