Heco Tinplate Models (4 Viewers)

Just when I was feeling a bit disappointed, our good friend Konrad (Kogu) sent me a PM kindly advising me that there is a Heco Tinplate Yellow RFC Biplane up for sale on ebay with a very reasonable buy it now. Thanks to Konrad's kindness, the plane is on its way to me as I write this post.:smile2:

The seller has a Heco Tinplate Red Baron Fokker Triplane for sale with a $140 buy it now for anyone interested.:wink2:

My new SE5a arrived today. It is mid production, with some excellent detailing but a flat prop. I am very pleased with it, and, as soon as the early production yellow biplane trainer I just purchased (thanks again to Konrad for the heads up!) I will take some photos and ask Brad to post them for me.:smile2:

Louis,
I bid on the Fokker, figure I could use another heco piece to join the one you gave me!!

Great! I hope you get it.:smile2:

I just heard from the seller. He has a Heco: #27 Doodle Bug Bomb & carrier, which I just bought.^&cool^&cool

My new Yellow biplane and "doodle bug" bomb on cart arrived today. I also purchased yet another Vickers Gunbus Pusher Plane today (I now have four slightly different pusher planes). I have to get photos done of the new Heco and ask Brad to post them for me.:smile2:

Well, as I feared, I got screwed by Bonham's Auctions. Our good friend, Mike Tarantino had been kind enough to let me know that a Heco WWI British tank was for auction on their site. I contacted the person in charge of the auction, a guy named Leigh Gotch, to place the bid. After keeping me waiting for more than a week (and a second, follow up e-mail), Mr. Gotch told me to open an account on the website and place the bid that way. I did so immediately, and my bid (for up to nearly twice what the Heco Tank sold for) is noted on my on line account.

The item sold for slightly more than half of my authorized bid, but when I didn't hear from Bonhams I feared the worst. I again e-mailed Mr. Gotch, and three days later he got back to me, with an e-mail saying "you did not win the item, was your bid confirmed?" When I pointed out that my bid (placed in August, three weeks before the auction) still appears on my on line account, I got a return e-mail saying basically, sorry, next time you want to bid, contact Bonhams directly, don't rely on the website.

It obviously isn't the end of the world, but I was a bit disappointed.:(

What a tale of mind-blowing "Rules" . I'll bet the seller would be too - IF he ever found out that there was a higher bid waiting.

Wonder if old Gotcha owned up to the catalogue of errors..........

Looks a bit like - it's heads - someone else wins - and tails - you lose. A bit like my record on ebay!!

Hmmm..............jb

Gotch is a real piece of work. The Heco Tank was part of a large lot. When I got Gotch's "sorry" e-mail, I asked him if he would contact the buyer, and ask if he would be willing to sell me the tank. I offered to pay for the entire lot just to get the tank, figuring there was a chance the buyer was after other things in the lot.

Gotch never responded to my inquiry. Not even the courtesy of a return e-mail.

Picked up another DRI Triplane last night . . . up to 3 again now (replacing the one I gave to Chris). I am waiting to hear on another Quonset Hut (a really cool variant with a sign, a bicycle and some kind of electric device on the side with rails going up to the top), a different water tower (with a walkway around the water tank and stairs instead of a ladder), another control tower, and, of all things, an outhouse! Hope to close the deal on these today.:wink2:

Got the buildings!^&cool^&cool Will be passing along a couple of them to Clive for his Heco collection.

Now I am after a Heco armored car and some Heco tents . . . :wink2:

Hoping to make a deal for 5 Heco Tinplate vehicles today (two of which I have no version of yet) as well as a RFC Tent like the one posted on this thread that I said I would kill to obtain.^&cool^&cool

As soon as I get all of these new models in (I have already received 5, have 4 more on the way, plus the six I hope to make a deal for today) I will have to take some photos and forward them to Brad (with whom I had lunch yesterday, along with Rich [NYtoysoldiers]) to post on this thread.:smile2:

Folks,

I was over at his house yesterday, as he noted, and I'm pleased to report that he's joined the rest of us: he has no more room! {eek3}^&grin

Jackpot!!! I just bought the following amazing Heco Tinplate Models: 1. Tent: RFC 2; 2. Fire Truck, #37, Hendon Aerodrome, one-of-a-kind; 3. Rolls Royce Half Track Staff Car, #29; 4. Motor Lorry With Crane, #21; 5. Motor Lorry Aircraft Recovery, #20; 6. G.P. Motor Lorry Fuel Tanker, #19, camouflage; 7. Fuel Tanker, #51, 100 oct marked, variation.

I sent Brad some photos of the items I received from the seller with I polite request that he post them on this thread.:smile2: The Hendon Aerodrome Firetruck is just amazing, as is the camouflage Fuel Tanker.^&cool^&cool^&cool^&cool

I am in hot pursuit of a Lohner Seaplane and a Cierva Autogyro!:wink2:

Don't know about crazy, but lucky dog springs to mind! ^&grin Those are some splendid looking models. ^&cool

Jeff
Have to agree.^&grin Louis "Lucky Dog" Badolato has done it again. Love that fire truck. Can hear that siren screaming as it approaches the latest crash and burn of some unlucky student pilot. Also like the truck hauling the captured German aircraft quite a bit.^&cool Nice haul, Louis.{bravo}} -- Al

Thanks Brad for posting the photos, and thanks Jeff and Al for the kind comments.:smile2:

As far as the firetruck is concerned, I had heard from both Tony Williams and Zach Bogues that an airfield firetruck had been produced, but I had never dreamed I would find it.^&cool

To top it off, among many other Heco Items he has not yet offered me for sale, the seller has a Cierva Autogyro, which, according to our good friend Gideon as among the nicest Heco models (I have never even seen a photograph of one).:wink2:

Got the four buildings today. The little Outhouse is hysterical . . . it has a toy soldier sized toilet inside!^&grin

Once the vehicles and tent arrive, I will take some shots of all the new items and polite ask Brad to post them for me . . . :wink2:
