Heco Tinplate Models (3 Viewers)

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

These are great looking models. I believe that the I.D. of the Fokker Eindekker might in fact be a late war Junkers which was a 2 seater and has a similar shaped tail. It was of all metal construction too. --lancer

You may be right . . . I picked up this plane on E-bay from a seller in Italy, and it is one of the few Heco pieces I got without a box. I sent Brad a mid-1990's Heco catalogue I scanned, which he has to rescan and size to post. It does list a Junkers CL1. Perhaps that is the model in question?

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Louis - that sounds right. Junkers produced a single seat fighter (D ) and a two seater (C) late in the war. Both were of all metal construction at a time when everything else was wood and fabric (no screaming please as I know some airframes were of metal tube construction). Because of it's metal construction and thus being very strong, the Junkers C was used in ground support. I love WW1 aircraft and those are some beauties you have there. -- lancer

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Lancer,

Thanks for setting me straight. The Junkers is one of the 30 or so pieces without a photograph in the Heco Catalogue, so I had no idea it was a monoplane. As a result I erroneously thought since it was a German World War I monoplane, it must be an Eindecker.

I really do love the Heco stuff, there is something so unique about each piece, they are really works of art.

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Louis - Technically the Junkers IS an eindecker as this is the German term for a single wing aircraft. All German aircraft with 3 wings are dreideckers (Dr). Naturally the different makes are named for the manufacturers such as the Fokker triplane or the Pfalz. The 2 winged aircraft were designated D, the single wing,E, and the 3 wing, Dr. It can get more complicated but these are basic designations. -- Al

Thanks for the clarification, Al. I learn more on this forum then I ever did in school, and I certainly appreciate the opportunity to pick the brains of such a knowledgeable bunch.:)

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

On Wednesday, a large packing crate will be arriving from Great Britain, with the most amazing Heco stuff I have ever come across. With the help of a good friend in England (to whom I gifted a Heco Sopwith Camel and got him hooked on the stuff) we located a large Heco collection, bought it, and split it between the two of us. There are two large dioramas (the one I got is a V2 Launch site), and I also got my Rolls Royce Armored Car, a WWI Canon and an anti-aircraft battery. My friend got the other diorama (a Naval Gun emplacement), an SE5A BiPlane, and an identical anti-aircraft battery. I will take some photos and politely ask Brad to post them for me. From what I understand, the V2 Launch Site is unbelievable!!:cool::cool::cool:

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Be glad to. Sounds like you may want to do a book (seriously). How many sets will you have?

I am going to have to fire the friends I have, as they fail miserably to find me any good stuff....:mad:Michael

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

WOW

Photos Please Brad. Especially the Armoured Car.

The Heco Tin plate sets were amazing and I wish I had bought a few when they were readily available. Oh well thats what happens when you think Oh I'll get to those...

Really looking forward to seeing these photos.

Believe me, I am beginning to consider the idea. Dave Hazell knows Tony and Adele well, and I have another friend who knows them too. Perhaps they might be willing to cooperate in a venture meant to document their wonderful work over the years, especially as it will cost them nothing more than time. I would have to get Kevin on board, but it would be fun if we could find the time. The problem is, unlike K&C, where between the 4 of us, Hans, Larry Kevin and myself had access to virtually everything, I have maybe 25 sets of Heco, and access to maybe another 5 or 6 sets. That would leave a lot of gaps in a book.

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Is there any idea of how many different models were made..I have 1 piece..Michael

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

From the information I have they made about 100 different vehicles etc. They may have made more but I dont have any documentation to support this.

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

If anyone has duplicates of Heco WW1 Aircraft or a WW1 Rolls Armored car, I would be interested...though it might be to your advantage to see Louis first. He has deeper pockets.:DMichael

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

The package arrived early, and I am working out of one of my client's office in NYC today . . . I can't wait to get home and open it!!!

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

The Heco stuff I got today is beyond amazing!!! I will take photographs and send them to Brad with a polite request that he post them for me. Wait until you see the V2 Diorama. It is far and away the finest piece in my entire collection. And the Howitzer and Anti Aircraft gun are also magnificent. I am just blown away!!!:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Brad and Louis, Thanks for sharing the pleasure. These are beautiful sets. :)

I've really enjoyed having a look.

Re: Wanted: Heco Tinplate Vehicles
