Help identifing Chuch Harris' loose items (2 Viewers)

Can't say for sure but it looks a bit like Ben Gurion to me. Definitely an Operation Market Garden set. Sorry I can't say for sure.

Thank you Dave! That at least gives me a place to start looking for information. I appreciate your help.

Found a box with KC written on top. Are these KC figures? If so, what set?
If not, anyone recognize them?
Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you

They are not King & Country figures, but rather they are made in Russia and sold as Saint George's Cross. They manufacture figures from the Russo-Japanese War of 1904, World War I on the Russian Front, and the Russian Civil War. These are WWI Russian Infantry. Most of the time you will find them unboxed, but I do have some numbered sets which came in maroon boxes with no box lid top label, but a small, white descriptive box end label (e.g. St George Cross Set #3945, 1919-1921 White Guard Infantry (Kornilovsky Rgmnt. Officer Set). I actually have 12 (two sets?) of these figures to include an officer in an all green uniform, a bugler, a drummer, and nine men. At one time, Sergei Ilyashenko of Lead Army sold them at the West Coaster and Chicago Shows.

I earlier said that they were WWI Russian Infantry, but in taking a good look at mine I believe that they are actually a Russian Rifle Regiment from the Russo-Japanese War in 1904-05 due to the green trousers they are wearing among other things.

Thank you for the input! These were in a maroon colored box with no label. I will check the end of the box to see if there is an end label, but I don't believe there is.

I'm down to the last 4 large boxes of items. Hoping it's all in original boxes. May have a few loose things in there, but I haven't looked to closely at them to see. 2 boxes are all boxed Solido items so I will be ok on those.

I bought sets of toy soldiers from Sergei, and the boxes had identifications written in colored metallic marker, such as gold, on the ends, and usually in Russian (in the Cyrillic alphabet).

Prost!

Thanks Brad. My box doesn't have anything like that. No markings at all.

That's OK, some were unmarked, too. I think Sergei may have gotten figures direct from the manufacturers but his boxes from other sources.

I also recall getting catalogs in the mid-90s, up to about 2000, featuring Russian goods, as the Russians swung into free trade with the West after the fall of the Wall. Some of these same soldiers were included in some catalogs, along with lacquerware, silk scarves, pocket watches with real movements, not quartz, and lots of Russian and East German army surplus gear.

I saw a similar phenomenon at the flea markets I used to visit, too, Russians selling things out of the trunk of a car, for cash, or for trade in things like jeans, T-shirts, stuff they would take back and sell at home. There were figures that we would call connoisseur figures among the goods, but since they weren't things I don't collect, I never bought any. I just admired the work. I almost wish today that I had bought some.

Prost!

I think this is the very last of the toy soldiers. Can any one tell if these are Barclay figures or not?
Any other info on them would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone? I promise this is the last items I ask about. Everything else left is in boxes that are clearly marked. Except the trains. I'll be at another forum pestering them.:D

They look like old Barclay Maniol dimestore figures to me, but I know very little about these figures, so can’t help much.

Just as an aside, my son Alec mentioned that he missed his phone calls with “Pop-Pop” (what he called your dad) and we talked about him on Veterans Day. He is still missed very much by those of us lucky enough to call him our friend.

This might prove to be a useful web-site. Just scroll down until you find one site for Barclay - and another for Manoil figures.

Then have a look down the left side of the pages - where you will find loads of pics of the various figures. This should give you the catalogue numbers of the various figures in the range. Don't forget to say thanks to Deke!;)

Hope it helps - jb

Hi Louis...yeah it's hard to believe it's almost been 6 years since he passed. Thank you.

Thank you, Jonnyback. That site looks like it will be very helpful. And thank you, Deke!!
