HIRIART French Military Parade, 1914 (1 Viewer)

Here are photos of some of my extra single figures. I occasionally order a set but also order from one to five extra figures to go with it. They are always sent in separate mixed boxes of figures and not in the box the set comes in due to space limitations. The World War I German Infantry, 1917, are from a special set I ordered. There is also a photo of the HIRIART sets I still have in boxes because I have no room to display them.

A wonderful thread and photos,,very nice to see mention of Bob Walker

Thanks, I appreciate your comments. Do you know Bob? BTW, I am just about to drive over to his house to see the latest additions to his collection and to deliver four Beau Geste bands I bought for him on eBay.

As many of you know, Old Toy Soldier Auctions U.S.A. held a large auction on the week end of Novermber 20th and 21st. I bid on 40 lots and only won four---three Hiriart sets and one Hocker set. I thought you might be interested in what some of the dozen or more of the Hiriart sets went for, keeping in mind that these sets are available at $120 USD elsewhere. The prices below include the 18% buyers premium:

1153 French Meharistes Camel Corps $295

1042 Tuareg Berbers $212

1142 French Foreign Legion, 1900 $177

1167 French Foreign Legion, 1923 $165

1180 FFL 2nd Cavalry Regt, 1923 $165

Note: The set 1153 Meharites is show with the officer on foot, but had a mounted officer at auction which is the way I am ordering two of these sets next year---one for my collection and the other for resale.

help me get on Tom Dubels back to do this for Fusilier...

Thanks. I have enjoyed doing it. I am hoping others on the Forum can document some other companies also. As to Tom Dubel, I do not believe I have any influence on him one way or another, but I would like to see Fusilier documented, too.

Here is a set I have never seen before; it is currently on eBay with a $125 asking price. It is 1232 Battle For England, 1940, which usually comes with just two pilot figures and two mini fighters. This version has six figures, including a Goering personality figure, plius the mini Spitfire, Bf-109, and a Me-110. I am going to order it on next year's order for my collection.

Cheers Mike:

I picked up this set after tracking down the seller after it ended thanks to this thread and a little homework. In short, it is my first Hiriart and it is beyond beautiful. There really is such a charm to these glossy sets. I sent you an email as well via your postings but I think it was somehow intercepted by the cyberspace gremlins. Happy Holidays /Merry Xmas everyone.

Hang Tough,
Marc

Hi Marc,

I assume from what you said that you did not bid on the set on eBay, but rather picked it up directly from the seller afterwards. I am glad you like the set---there is a charm to them, isn't there. I did not get an email from you????? My email address is matara42@roadrunner.com if you want to try again.

Best regards,

Thanks Mike for the email address again but that is the one I used from your posting in the classified add here on the Forum as I was hoping you could track down that very set. I checked my sent messages and it was correct so the Gremlins did get it or maybe you have a filter that deletes anything from USC Trojan alumni! All the same I will try to track you down again. Yes, after seeing this thread I did an eBay search for closed/finished auctions and tracked down the seller that way as the item had not sold. I really love the small airplanes included with the set too as it brings me way back to my childhood. Please count me in for visiting Mr. Walker's Toy Soldier Compound during the West Coaster and tell him that his Salsa/Red Sauce is the best I have ever had. Talk soon and Happy Holidays.

Best Regards,
Marc

Hi Marc,

Yes, that must be it. I have a firewall up for USC alumni, supporters, O.J. appologists, fanatics, etc. If you want, try a PM via the forum---no firewall there. BTW, I'll bring a couple of cans of his red sauce for you in March. There is a small Mexican restaurant near his house where he has provided them with his red sauce to bring out when ever he eats there. Also, I posted a photo of Bob on the Figarti thread HMS Poorfolks today.

There are several other Hiriart sets that have small models included in the set: 1059 Royal Air Force with a (scale?) Gloster meteor, 1067 U-Boote with Doenitz personality figure and a 1/750 scale Mark VII submarine, and 1129 Royal Navy with Churchill personality figure and a 1/750 scale destroyer.

Best regards,

I won three HIRIART sets at the Old Toy Soldier Auctions in November. All three sets are non-catalog specials. One thing that kind of surprised me regarding this auction was how many inaccurate descriptions and/or photos were associated with it. I noticed it on the Kingcast sets and especially on the Hiriart sets. For example, one of the sets I won was correctly described as German Army Winter - Eastern Front, but the photo was of set 1104 WW I Kaiserlichemarine Afrika. How WW I German sailors in Africa wearing pith helmets could be confused with WW II German winter infantry is beyond me. Another set I won was described as WW I German Imperial Infantry with a photo of the label from set 1034 Kaiser Garde du Corps wearing 19th Century Prussian dress uniforms and great coats while the figures were WW I German Infantry wearing stahlhelms. Anyway, the three sets are as follows:

World War I German Artillery Gun Team

World War II German Infantry - Eastern Front in Winter

World War I German Infantry in Stahlhelms

Note the special label created for the artillery gun team. Also, it turns out that I already have both the WW I German Infantry special set in Stahlhelms and the catalog set 1154 which it is based on, but wearing picklehaube helmets.

Here is a photo of the only set of Boxer Rebellion Boxers in the Hiriart catalog. I don't personally have the set, but ordered it for Bob Walker two years ago---it is very nice. It is set 1231 Boxer Infantry, 1900. Although there aren't any other Boxer Rebellion sets in the catalog, 1311 Japanese Infantry, 1904 and 1318 Russian Infantry, 1904, will do since they are wearing the same uniforms as they did in 1900 during the Boxer Rebellion.

Here are some additional new photos. Although I uploaded them in numeric order, they seem to attach themselves in random order. Sets 1196 and 1338 are regular catalog sets. Set 1198 is a band special based on the regular catalog set. The two Cossack sets are non-catalog specials.

------- Imperial Guard Cossacks

------ WW II Kuban Cossacks

1198 Cacciatori d'Africa, Italia SPECIAL band

1196 The Beefeaters

1338 The 12th Lancers, Britain

Hiriart has two Royal Marine Light Infantry sets in its catalog: 1010 Royal Marine Light Infantry and 1023 Royal Marine Light Infantry Band. However, at least three additional special sets have been produced of this unit: 1010 RMLI at present arms, 1010 RMLI (winter), and 1023 RMLI Drum & Bugle Corps. This is one of the things that I like about Hiriart---the ability to order variations on their existing catalog sets.
