Thank you, I am glad you like them. I keep finding photos of sets that I had not posted before, but they are becoming harder to find. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of four special non-catalog sets I recently ordered. They have never been done before by Hiriart and so I am ordering them sight unseen. They are a nine figure mounted Italian Carabinieri band including a drum horse plus a separate mounted set with an officer, Italian flag bearer and 3 men; WW II Polish Infantry, 1939; and WW II Operation Barbarossa German allies, Slovaks and Hungarians. The WW II sets were each ordered with an officer, national flag bearer, bugler, and 6 men, marching. When I have photos, I'll post them.

Thanks Mike for posting pictures of the Hiriart sets. They make a wide variety of figures with enough figures in a set. John

You are welcome, John. The variety of sets that Hiriart makes always continues to amaze me. They have also never turned down any requests I have made in the past for special, non-catalog sets. For example, they made a Swedish Horse Guards Mounted Band at my request for another collector, which probably wouldn't be a big seller in their catalog, but they did make it and subsequently added it to their catalog as set #1332. I am not sure if they are so accomodating because I have ordered so many sets from them (more than 500) for my personal collection, other collectors, and for resale at the West Coaster, or if they are just nice people to deal with.

The general trend in the toy soldier business is for the sets to have fewer rather than more figures, as you know. Two or three figures in a set is now a fairly common occurence, but Hiriart continues to sell nine figure infantry sets and five figure cavalry sets. Most of the small sets are of individual sculps in different poses whereas Hiriart makes a more tradition set which might contain an officer, flag bearer, bugler, and six men, all marching. The price per infantry figure, at $13 and change, is also appealing to me, too.

Patron3085 from El Salvador is currently offering a non-catalog Hiriart set of Boer War British Infantry for sale on eBay. They could be City Imperial Volunteers. There was another version of this set which he had offered earlier on eBay where the figures are at sling arms. In one version they are wearing boots and in the other they have roll putees. Attached are photos of both sets.

Mike: This is one of my favorite sets. I just reviewed your thread again. Thanks so much for sharing your collection through your photos.

Tommy,

That is a great set. It looks like you have a special version of set 1207 CARROARMATO ANSALDO (CV-33 tankett) in desert colors with a Cacciatori d'Afrika crew based on set 1198 CACCIATORI D'AFRICA, ADDIS ABABA, 1936. Coincidently, I ordered the exact same special version of that set a couple of years ago, but received the troops in steel helmets instead of pith helmets. Can you do me a favor? Send me that photo attached to an email to matara42@roadrunner.com. I will try again to order that set like you have it. Thanks.

Tommy,

Thank You. For some reason I never got your email; however, I was able to copy it from the Form photo you posted. I don't know if you saw it, or even if you are interested, but I have listed about three dozen Hiriart sets for sale under the Forum's for sale or trade classified section.

An eBayer, nmtoys, currently has five Hiriart World War II sets on sale. Four of the five are variations on standard catalog sets. For example, 1046 LAH SS in winter uniforms with a Hitler figure normally comes with Hitler wearing a winter coat and includes a German shepard, but the two 1046 sets on eBay have Hitler wearing his khaki uniform from set 1043. The prices are as follows:

1043 LIEBSTANDARTE SS $499.99 [double set]
1045 WAFFEN SS $199.99
1046 LAH SS (winter uniforms) $199.99
1095 DEUTSCHES INFANTERIE (winter uniforms) $299.99
1146 BERLIN INFANTERIE $190.00

Set 1146 is the only standard catalog set in the group. Although the attached photos are not in set numeric order, you hopefully can figure out which one is which. I didn't post photos of his 1045 and 1146 sets.

Tommy,

I am going to make an Italian North Africa parade display like you have, at some future point. I already have sets 1198 CACCIATORI D'AFRICA, 1197 ITALIAN DESERT BERSAGLIERIE in helmets, 1206 YOUNG FASCISTS with Mussolini, and 1207 DESERT ANSALDO (CV-33 Tankett). I found a photo of a double sized non-catalog band set (which I don't have) on the latest Hiriart CD based on set 1198 CACCIATORI. One additional non-catalog set I would like to have made to complete the display would be World War II Italian staff officers to put up on the review stand with Mussolini.

Tommy,

I left a set off from my future Italian North African Parade display. It is set 1291 ASCARI LIBICHE ITALIA, 1929, IIIrd BATALLIONE. I already have the set, but I am also considering ordering two special variations next year of the Ist Batallione which would have a black flag, sashes & tassels and the IInd Batallione with a blue
flag, sashes 7 tassels. The flags on these sets have the Roman Numerial of the batallione on them.

Tommy,

Thanks for the photo. I have never seen that set before. Here is the closest non-catalog set I am aware of where they are wearing the white dress uniforms. There is also a companion band non-catalog double set in the same uniforms. Your set seems to be SA while the other two sets are SS.

Patron3085 has two more Hiriart non-catalog sets currently on eBay. The first is The King's Line Infantry in winter greatcoats with 17 figures for $150 plus $25 shipping. The second is also The King's Line Infantry, but in their regular uniforms with 14 figures including a mounted officer. These are a steal at $120 plus $25 shipping.
