Hirst Arts Castle and diorama done in 60mm. (1 Viewer)

Excellent Michael, your bridge is just great. You have created an excellent step-by-step medieval diorama with different and beautiful figures.

Again I take my hat off.

Good job

Rod.

Great redo and photos Michael and nice to know your over your tantrum and you've solved the problem after vsiting the sand trap on hole one at your other playground. The bridge over the the flowing river looks great and very well done.........The Lt.

Very inspiring stuff Michael. Wonderful job and top work with the castle and bridge. Looking forward to seeing more pictures.

Vick, Rod, Joe, Octavian, thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate your taking the time to throw me a compliment, thank you, Michael

I built this little stage to do some mini-dioramas.

It's supposed to be like the interior of the castle, hand to hand.

Made a lot of props to get some different looks.

You are one talented guy. Your sets and props are awesome,

I think in your case it is literally true: "A man's house is his castle":)

Hello Michael - Looks like you are still going strong. Nice looking "stage". Keep up the good work and thanks for always sharing with us.

Mike

Thanks Mike and Randy,

I spent 1/2 a day making that little stage, so I'm going to take a few more photos before it goes on the shelf.

I made this little building from some leftover Hirst blocks.

It's not too much different from the other two extra buildings I made earlier in this thread, except I made the roof from his shingled roof mold that I cast and copied.

It roof turned out pretty good and this gives me a little stage to shoot some photos on.

Nice seeing you building and playing knowing your need to relax after a round of golf. Very nicely done Michael both the play stage and the building and great photos featuring both your finished work and figures........The Lt.

Gracias Joeseppi,

By the way, we got a cold front coming, going to get in the 50's I hear.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:D

Played golf today and couldn't even break 90.

All the paint and glue stuck to my fingers affected my putting.

Thanks for the kind words,

Michael

Mike

If you continue posting these outstanding buildings of yours you will surely tempt me in slinging together a Kingdom of Heaven or Ivanhoe set-up ;)....
and my good lady has said I cannot afford to collect another era and go on vacation:mad:

Great work Mike-great work.

Hello Michael,
Your thread was so great that I couldn't resist buying some Hirst's moulds.
They arrived recently and today, I had fun with my children casting some blocks (though I've not yet mastered the bubble free casting:mad:).
Having done that I realised how much work you put in that large sized castle :eek:.
Cheers,
Michel

Michel,

I'm very happy you are progressing since the last time we communicated.

Was the info I sent you helpful in finding the products you required?

Honestly, you will find, the more bricks you make, the more you will want to make. It's very addictive to see a large pile of finished blocks waiting for you to create something.

Take your finished blocks and play with them before you glue them. Set up a design on paper or in your head for what you want. If you are going to make a small building, I was suggest a base or platform. Smooth 1/4" plywood or any thin sheet wood will help.

You will learn tricks along the way to go much quicker too.

I'm sending you a link that will help you get rid of those bubbles.

It's a very simple process. Just spray the molds.

If you need any assistance, please ask, I can either explain it or send you the link you need.

I'm so flattered that my meager castle has inspired you to create. It's comments like this that really inspire me. Thanks.

Good luck, again, if you need any help, just ask.

Michael

PS...Here are a few pictures of extra buildings I made from the leftover blocks. Perhaps it might be more rewarding to start with something smaller your first time. The hydrostone is so cheap, mistakes cost you virtually nothing.

I,ve heard Of guys pouring the molds and leaving them to dry on top of the washing machine with a load in. The shaking of the washing machine gets rid of the bubbles.

Mike those look great and I like the finish you have on the bricks! Dry brushing?
I,ve just got one question for you? Why did you put the arch windows upside down? Was there some kind of issue with gluing them or did you prefer this look?
I also really like the new roof but I think a bit less overhang on the sides would have looked better. I,m guessing that this is premade roofing that came out a bit bigger then expected?
I really like what you,ve done with these bricks and I,m tempted to get some now myself.
Great stuff! and nice dioramas also!!!
