Historical movies,sequels,remakes (2 Viewers)

Yes AWI would be great if done right. Saratoga or Cowpens. I know that Cowpens was sort of done during the Patriot, but true unit and commander representations would be great.
I would REALLY like to see Trafalgar on the big screen. Still on a nautical theme, Jutland would be interesting as well.

He may be a little old, but Jeremy Irons might make a good Nelson.

He would be far too tall-Nelson was a real little fellah at less than 5' 4" and of slight stature so much so I was amazed when I first saw his almost child-size sleeping bunk on HMS Victory in Portsmouth-UK. But on reflection historical accuracy never seems to bother Hollywood

I will like to see a remake of I will fight no more Forever,or a new movie based on Chief Joseph and Nez Perce great escape, maybe a mini series or a movie for 180 minutes.

Its tiny isn't it!.Have been on the Victory about five times since the age of about seven, everytime is a joy.The conditions they lived in were amazing, what it must have been like with cannon balls flying through the walls i don't know.

Tom Cruise it is then!

That said, as far as sequals goes, I'm backing Rob's suggestion for 'Kelly's Heroes II' :)

This would be an awesome candidate for a remake. Son of the Morning Star would be as well.

I assume that is a joke. They could not improve on Kelly's Heroes; just give me a Blu-ray and I'll be happy.;)

We need Spielberg to make a mini series,on the scale of Band Of Brothers on Market Garden from all sides involved or revisit the Battle Of The Bulge, again from all sides. Peter Jackson should take on Waterloo, hopefully it would include Quatre Bras and Wavre as suitable battles to wet our appetite before the main course.

It certainly was. ;)
As for Kelly's Heroes, you're right, I don't think it could be topped. Ranks right up there with The Patriot.......tick.....tick....tick....:D

Before North West Europe again, I would like to see Monte Casino or North Africa done right. Spielberg could do a bang up job. Italy would have a truly international cast of characters.

I would like to see a biopic of Grant, Sherman, Stuart, Forrest or Bobby Lee. I can't understand why Hollywood have never attempted such an undertaking. After all, it cannot be said that the aforementioned gentlemen led uneventful lives.

ACW films are just not popular enough in the United States for Hollywood to seriously indulge in-Yeah! beats the hell out of me too

There was a thread about remakes recently, love them to do 'Red Badge of courage' great film.

Rob

Two great ACW books that would make really awesome movies would be "Hard Tack and Coffe" and "Company Aytch" Sideshow to the big show. Two very well written biographies of Civil War Soldiers. Movies would be smaller scale and could be very well done.
