What a great thread Mike as per usual nothing but class on display thanks for sharing.

Very reminiscent of upscale museum exhibits.:salute::

Yep another beauty Mike, there is something about this series also that makes it quite distinctive, no doubt the vivid colours once again. Never part with these they are rare and collectors will be envious in the coming years. Robin.

Brilliant Mike and it's the first time I have seen this dio so im glad you posted the pic's again. The backdrop is superb and you have done an excellent job in blending it into the foreground.

Tom...thanks...when I found the backdrop...I hoped I could create something that would make a decent transition into it...

Robin...thanks for taking the time to comment...yes...this is another "one of a kind" series by JJD that no other manufacturer will probably ever do again...the whaleboats with rowers are pretty unique...

Mark

Mark...thank you...your newest Ranger's forest scene...which was beautiful...inspired me to get the camera out...I used to take a lot of pictures...but have not done any lately...

That looks great, nice job. What are the bushes made out of ? Are they some kind of dried flowers ?

Paul...thanks for the kind words...the shrubs/bushes are made of dried/preserved foliage...you can purchase them online...if you're interested...I will find the link and post it...

Roger's Rangers and Their Whaleboats.......^&cool

I remember when you made this dio Mike - still one of your best imho. :salute::

Jeff

Jeff...thanks for the comment...it's one of my favorites too...I guess that's why I have not sold it or redone it yet...

The Sudan Wars...

the bottom shelf in my office cabinet...again...is also all JJD...

The Sudan Wars...

it's a pretty simple diorama board...sand...rocks...shrubs...I tried to paint the rocks in a desert color...

John has not produced a figure for this series in a while...and while my board is pretty packed...I hope he re-visits it in the future...

as usual...I have the British in a traditional "square"...

Yes, very interested thanks.

I made a mistake...I said this diorama was all JJD...this figure is a Heritage Sudan War figure made my Martin Taboney...I repainted the figure and base so it would match the Jenkin's figures a little better...

Great conversion Mike, there are a heap of Heritage if you ever need to swell your ranks, handy cabinet also for display that you have. Robin.

Paul...

I purchased mine from Woodcreek Dried Inc...

here is the link to their dried foliage page...

http://www.woodcreekdrieds.com/index.php/products/foliage

I'm sure you can find other suppliers with some different foliage on the Internet...

if you need any help in selcting them...

I will send you my phone number and you can call me...

Thanks for the link. You would be surprised, its harder to find this stuff then you think. I figured dried plants would be easy to find in any craft store.

Paul...

Michael's and Hobby Lobby almost always have Caspia...just make sure you buy "preserved"...you will know it's preserved as it will be soft...if not...it's too brittle and eventually crumbles...

if you have to preserve it yourself...you can buy glycerine at the hobby store in their cake decorating section...and spritz the foliage mixed with a solution of water...

I think the most versatile and best looking is Sugarbush...Peppergrass...Caspia...and Buffalo Grass...

unfortunately...Sugarbush/Peppergrass is seasonal...and often out of stock...

this link might help you find some better...

thanks Robin...

Nicholas brought me back 5 pieces of Heritage Sudan when he went to the London show...I sold 4 of them and regret that...Martin does very nice work and it's very affordable...the one in the picture I kept and repainted to look more like John's...I struggled with the eyes and matching the skin tone too...it's basic black but John does a tanish dry brush on his...it took me a while but I like it...^&grin

Just found this thread Michael . . . . A wonderful way to display your collection for sure . . . . . Looking forward to seeing more . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Just saw this thread Michael, truly great stuff my man. Thanks for posting.

I've always loved the rangers on the whale boats. It's when i saw that one that I knew you were my guy for my Hong Kong Diorama!

Michael may not post it, but here is a diorama that i asked him to build for me. It is spectacular and Michael was an absolute pleasure to deal with! it's in my collection, but I consider it OURS! I'm posting here, not to hijack, but so you can all enjoy more of Mr. Miller's talent! He was a genius and built up the back of the jetties to give more room for bldgs and figures. I never would have thought of it, but it made all the difference. He also made a door for the keyhole bldg to hide the mirror that was peeking through in the back of my cabinet.
