Honour Bound Pics (3 Viewers)

Louis,

The expected release date for the Bergepanther is by the end of March. It will have U hooks to be connected to the Panthers.

Dear Ana,

I have spent a lot of time admiring the large photos of the Panther on your website and have a question: Are the final production tanks that will be sold made of polystone or resin (with metal detail pieces)? Your original post in the "Honour Bound" thread mentioned resin, then a later post (#44) mentioned polystone. I have commented on the stunning wheels and tracks of your Panther on this thread, and now believe them to be separate detail pieces added to either a resin or polystone hull. Hopefully, you can answer this question without disclosing any production secrets.:)

This looks promising but I will not be 100% sold until I see it for real. The figures look a bit slight and glossy but a nice variety of poses. If K&C go forward with a new Panther it will interesting to compare. Regardless, the competition is good news for collectors.

Combat, I thought the same thing about the figures, they look a little skinnier than K&C.
I sure hope they are compatable, as I,m looking forward to this line.
That,s the problem, if you were to do a 54mm set, then that is a whole new ballgame, but if you are going after the top dog, they have got to fit or I don,t think I will get them. Don,t want something that just quite don,t fit in scale.

Back to the Dragon Wagon.

I have been admiring the 1/35 Tamiya plastic version for years. Just have not gotten the motivation to get one and put in the time needed to make it look good. This is a rather large and complicated model that would take a bit of time and patience to complete. There have been built ones on eBay over the past several years. They have ranged in prices from about $50 to well over $300. Considering that the unassembled model costs close to $90, the built ones could be a real bargin. But, they are 1/35 and thats a far piece from 1/30.

Now if K&C were to put out the Dragon Wagon, yes it would be large, yes it would be expensive compared to their current pricing goals; however, I would agree once again with Louis, would not a K&C Dragon Wagon look great with a K&C Sherman or even a captured Winter Tiger or King Tiger. The US did transport several of them from Europe to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds to test their capabilities. The last time I was there they were still on display outdoors near one of the gates.

Even the smaller M26 version without the transporter would be great looking with the cable runout to a crippled vehicle. The Sherman recovery version or what about the German Famo Sd.Kfz.9/1 w/trailer. Now that would make a really cool series. Maybe that is something Honour Bound could consider. :) Michael

It seems that there are a lot of us who would love to see either K&C or Honour Bound do some Allied and Axis tank recovery vehicles. Well, we know Ana has got one in the works. I think I will bring up the topic at the Symposium, and see if enough of us show interest to influence Andy on the subject.

Dear Steven,

We'll combine polystone, metal and resin depending on which material will work better for the different parts. The clutches will be metal, as you can see in the original model, and the tracks and wheels will be casted in one piece separated from the body of the tank and again, firmly attached afterwards. The tracks and inner wheels will be all one polystone piece, and the external wheels will be metal. There's no such thing as production secrets,so you can ask whatever you want about the process and I won't have any problem to answer your questions.

And for the others, our line is 60mm up to the eyes, and rather thin and elegant because that's the style and the look that we want in our miniatures. We've worked in our 65 mm metal model figures' line 'Donzino & Donzino' since 1982 until 1999, when we decided to switch to the toy soldier market.

Beau Geste has set its own style since we began, and so will Honour Bound do. Figures will be tall, thin and elegant, and matt finished (the glossy look is because my photograph lights are too bright). You might like them or not, but it's our style. Just take it or leave it.

We knew that there would be people loving them from the beginning, and that there would be some others that would't like them at all. There's nothing new about that. You can't please everybody. So I invite you to buy them if you like them, or leave them on the shelves if you don't.

Your choice ;)

Ana

Ana, I was wondering if you will be using 'complete' figures in your tanks/vehicles rather than the 'cutoff' K & C types.

Btw, a tank transporter - either the M25 (Dragon Wagon) or Diamond T 980 would be sweet, and more popular than some may think.

Crews will combine complete figures with a couple of 'cutoffs'. In the case of these 3 Panthers, Barkmann's figure is cut below his feet, and the driver has just only his upper torso only. The other 2 Panthers have 2 and 3 figures respectively, all of them complete.

Oh, and I forgot to answer this one before: the Bergepanther will come with a crew of tank mechanics.

Ana:)

Back in the pre-forum days, I emailed Andy and asked him to consider producing figures for WWII that showed the other things that soldiers did, other than combat. I asked if they could produce some washing, eating, repairing vehicles, simple every-day life kinds of things. His response was that because the wounded GI and the German Prisoner sets were not selling as well as he thought they would, that all collectors wanted was combat poses. I disagreed then and disagree today. I am happy to see Honour Bound putting together the recovery vehicle and issuing mechanics. Great move to fill a vacuum in the normal life category of toy soldiers. :) Michael

I am very excited about the bergepanther and the crew of mechanics as well. I have wanted a tank recovery vehicle for years, and I think this will be a big seller. My friend Hans was also excited.

Isn't the time for Honour Bound to have their own forum or is it too early? I'm asking because of all the excitement and enthusiasm showed by the members since only three days (this thread started 01/23).

Pierre.

Re: Honour Bound

Dear Pierre,
Although there has been a lot of excitement over the new Honour Bound company, we need to see a very significant amount of emails about them (or many requests from forum members) before we give a specific company their own forum category. There are many different companies' soldiers discussed here but as it is only Britains and King & Country have their own forum.

What do people think?

Sure why not. There will be more topics once we receive our new Panthers. :)

I think it's a bit too early for that, especially when their first product hasn't even hit the shelves yet. I'd wait awhile before doing so.

I agree with Brad, and think Treefrog should stick to their present guidelines as stated by Shannon above.:)

Ditto. Michael

Ana-
Just curious if you can share any long term plans for additional releases? For example, do you plan on producing sets along the lines of specific campaigns or battles (e.g. Africa, Eastern Front etc)? Will you follow the 3 panther example and release more than one version of each tank or vehicle? Thanks.

Man, Those are some nice looking pieces. This is just what I needed another great line of figures to spend my money on. Who needs to save for retirement anyway :)

The following release after the Panthers is the Bergepanther, as I mentioned before. The next vehicle after that will probably be the Firefly.

Our plans lead mainly to unique and special vehicles, like mine detonators, campaign kitchen trucks, troops transport halktracks, ambulances, recovery, communications, amphybious, logistic, etc. All those vehicles that had different tasks than combat during the war will be alternate with the releasing of tanks from different battles. And definitely Africa, Eastern Front, Monte Casino, etc are among our plans.

Yes, we plan to release more than one version of each tank. Once that you have it already made, it is easy to make the necessary modifications in sculpture and painting to release a new version. There is always someone who's willing to get a different version than the one you've chosen ;)

Hope you like our plans.

Ana:D
