I got the HB Panther today at Valley Forge. Have to say that it is even better than expected. The detail is fantastic. The color is more muted than most of the KC tanks giving it a more realistic apearance (and this baby is heavy). I think the HB tanks are better than anything KC has produced and the Winter Panther looks doubleplusgood. The figures are better than expected, but KC still has an advantage there. Very good news for collectors.

Better than anything K & C has ever done? That's a pretty bold and bald statement. Better than the K & C Panthers? Yes, although those were made several years ago it remains to be seen how the HB Panther will stacks up against the new K & C Panther and vice versa

Regarding the original statement, I invite you to take a look at the Churchill, the Staghound, the Puma, the T-34, the new AK Desert Transport or the Prime Mover. Those are impressive vehicles.

When you buy a tank, you're not just buying a tank but the figures as well. In other word, the whole package. This is where K & C has a leg up. While the HB tank is very impressive the figures, in my opinion, are less so and it's quite revealing that shark showed pictures with K & C figures rather than the HB figures.

I have most of those KC vehicles that you mention. The Puma is one of my favorites - although it is technically not really a Puma. The HB is better. As I said, I do agree that KC makes superior figures.

I reckon that the Churchill is K & C's best tank, but it's not as good as HB's Panther imo.

It would be very hard to pick King & Countrys best tank, the Winter Tiger,

the Russian T-34/85, King Tiger, Jadgpanther, British Sherman, to name a

few of the recent releases all are 1st rate.

Oh man, Combat. You opened a can of worms with that statement, left yourself wide open for a good old fashioned K&C butt kicking around this place. Let's just say it's really well done and there's room in every "open minded" collector's display for both the HB and K&C panthers.:D

Fred's words appear to be right on the mark. The HB tank is a very good tank and it will be very interesting to see how future K & C tanks look like after Andy has had an opportunity to examine. The K & C Panther may not be the best example (although comparisons will be made) as it was made before the HB one was. The new Stuart may be a better comparison. Lastly, "better" is a very subjective word and value laden.

I don't agree with Combat but I was glad to see that Oz mentioned the Churchill. No one ever talks about that tank but it's really superb. If I had to rate my five favorite K & C vehicles it would be that, the Sherman, the Prime Mover, the Staghound and the Matilda.

K&C's Winter Tiger is the piece that got me involved in this madness four months ago and it remains my favorite. I might have to reconsider when the panthers arrive, both HB and K&C, and maybe even give the Stuart a shot at the title too, but I think the WT is going hang in there real tough. There's nothing quite like your first love.;)

Guys, I have only seen the broken HB Panthers at the Jersey Show in March, but I have to agree that they were superior to the K&C polystone tracked vehicles I had seen up to that point. I am glad they were, because I am sure that Andy will meet the challenge in coming releases. Collectors will benefit from the improvements generated by a little healthy competition.

As I am not a fan of tanks or other armoured vehicules, I am very happy that I will not be: a) involved in a discussion K&C vs HB and b) tempted to buy HB tanks as I love the figures made by K&C and that everybody agrees that K&C's are still the top (I am aware of the existence of some russian companies but a tree at 650,00$ US or a war elephant at 5 000,00$ US...).

Not being a fan doesn't mean that I do not have some tanks in my collection and my favorite one is the WS71 (I really like the colours) but as a set, the WS41.

Pierre.

At one time I said, on this forum, that I did not like K&C tanks :( , I believe I said that they are too "Artie" and that I preferred FOV.

Well guys, I am now sitting down to a nice dinner of crow served with a side of hat.

I have come to love K&C tanks. My FOV are in boxes. I have over 60 of them and they are put away for a while (someday I will put them in a FOV only display, I still like them very much). I have two shelves in my Howard Miller display case full of K&C tanks and vehicles. I have come to believe that the K&C style is very pleasing to my eye and looks very real, with the color combinations and accessories that accompany each tank. I don’t care if HB or K&C or FOV makes a better Panther. I like them all and I will be getting them as so as my dealer can send them to me.

Now please pass the salt and the Louisiana hot sauce, I am not done with that **** bird.

I share Louis' view - role them on....maybe we should start the annual award ceremony for 1/30 (approx) scale?

best soft vehicle vehicle? - new ambulance jeep (not even seen it yet):D

Best tank - historically the Wittman tiger - that is probably what first caught my eye - but now? new panther? But the new HB panthers were very very good at Jersey:cool: They might well shade it

Best Desert..........AK - pz3? Best 8th Army - oops, no choice! Matilda .Pity the dingo isn't a tank - well there is another award - best A/C?

And the overall winner is Andy, Andy, Andy? Will HB/NMA make the frame?

All we need now is any tank called M@~+Y.....Least popular tank award 2006, 2007, 2008 - eh Louis - tee hee:D

Surely Louis would have the Forces of Valor M3/Grant 'Monty' displayed somewhere in his dioramas - possibly at the bottom of a large cliff :)

I notice that the Honour Bound website displays "weathered" and "nonweathered" Panthers. The weathered versions are more muted in colour. That is pretty nifty but had not seen it mentioned.

OZ, hate the man, not the machine. When I visited the Imperial War Museum in London I had a photo taken next to Monty's personal M3. And Panda, you are still flashing that British humor we Yanks love to hate!

Ana-
Just curious if you have made any decisions regarding future releases beyond the Bergepanther and Winter Panther?

Doug,

The plans are the following (but I don't know the orer yet  ):
Bergepanther (2 versions)
Winter Panther
Polish Sherman M4A2 (Montecasino 1944)
American Sherman (Normandy 1944)
German Field Kitchen (with crew and horses)
Infrared Panther Solution B-type IR (Essen 1945)
Soviet Panther (captured unit)Varsovia March 10 1945 (Unit 991 artillery regt. 46th army)

We will release a set of figures to go with every vehicle

Shoot!:D

Ana

That's some amazing list. I just a Richard Holmes BBC program about Monte Cassino last night and have been wanting a Polish Sherman for Falaise so this will be great. At last, the Poles get their due.

Ana;

Your web site mentions a weathered and non weathered version of the Bakmann Panthers, could you explain the difference, are both versions of each tank available, and are the boxes labeled as such or is it just different steps in the painting process? Thanks, oh yeah, your production plans sound great, hope that line is rolling now, I'm still waiting for my panthers, can't wait to get my hands on one of those winter panthers.:D

Fred

Fred,

The non weathered version is a stage of the painting process, in which the tanks are not finished yet. We only release them in the weathered version.

The picture is only to ilustrate the stage, and to show the difference.

Production is beginning to roll slighly faster these days, so you'll probably get your Panthers soon. Sorry for the delay.

Take care,

Ana
