I built and painted these 1:8 scale models for my son Alec, how did I do? (2 Viewers)

Okay, I am finally done and happy with all of my conversions (except for the second Bandit I am converting, it hasn't arrived yet). Lets start with Hadji. I was tooling around on ebay, and I found the perfect head to convert for Hadji: a 9 inch action figure of "Avatar: the Airbender." The figure itself was useless, as it was sculpted in the outfit of the character, some kind of karate gee. The head, however, was a perfect 10 or 11 year old Hindu boy (albeit bald). I won the auction for $1.99 (the shipping actually cost more than the figure), and when it arrived, I removed the head, cut the wires inside (the eyes lit up) and repainted it exactly as I had painted the head of the Hadji model. I then glued it on the body of my existing Hadji conversion, and fit the turban to the head, added a Schliech coiled Cobra at his feet and a snake charmers flute in his hand and "Sim Sim Salabim", its Hadji, equipped just like his prototype from Playing Mantis.

Next some improvements to Jonny Quest: New jeans which actually fit him, a camera around his neck and a coil of rope with an action man grappling hook, and Jonny now comes equipped exactly like his prototype as well. I sent both Brad and Terry some photos of Jonny and Hadji on an egyptian diorama right out of "Curse of Anubis" with a polite request that one of them post the photos on this thread.:smile2:

As I had previously mentioned, I obtained a pistol belt, holster and .45 for Race. Some photos of the now completed Race and Dr. Benton Quest on the Egyptian Diorama were also forwarded to Brad and Terry to post for me.:eek:

As I had already mentioned, I found a 1:6 scale jointed bulldog (which was pink!) apparently from a Japanese knock off of Barbie from the late 1950's. A couple of coats of primer, a couple of coats of white paint, and some detail painting and I have a serviciable Bandit appearance wise, but it is English Bulldog size, while the real Bandit is more like the size of a French Bulldog or a Pug. I also sent Brad and Terry some photos of the Bandit conversion with the rest of the figures on the Egyptian diorama to post here. Thanks guys!{sm4}

Well done Louis you put a lot of work in there to get the figures "to a T" {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Thanks Martyn!:smile2: By the way, the figures are being displayed on an excellent 1:30 scale K&C "Secret Desert Airfield" diorama made by Gordon Neilson. While it makes a fine backdrop for the photos, it is just too small for a permanent display (not to mention the fact that they would displace three wooden warbirds, a control tower, and about 50 K&C desert and aircraft themed figures). Wait until you see the 1:6 scale diorama Ken and Erika Osen of Hudson & Allen are doing as a display for these figures . . . :wink2:

I really am going overboard, guys.{sm2} I found a 1:6 scale pair of puttees on ebay for $2.99, and bought them, figuring, I can wind them aroung the existing turban, and make a fuller, more realistic turban for Hadji.{sm4}

The "Tamdoll" fully poseable pug dog I ordered arrived this morning. The head, all four legs, and even the tail are fully jointed and move, and it fits perfectly in the Jonny Quest converted action figure's arms, in the exact same relative size as the Bandit in the arms of the "Shape of Things" Jonny Quest model kit.

Using the larger 1:4 scale "Shape of Things" Bandit statue as a model (except for the collar, I painted it blue, not red like the statue), I repainted it as Bandit. I am very pleased with the result, I think it makes the Jonny Quest conversion match the Playing Mantis prototype almost perfectly.

I sent Brad and Terry some photos of Bandit with Jonny Quest, with a polite request that one of them post them on this thread.:smile2:

In addition to completing the new Bandit conversion, at the OTSN, I obtained some accessories to go with the action figures from my friend Jack, who was selling some great Dragon 1:6 scale figures and accessories during the room trading. I bought a real wood and metal 1:6 scale pick and shovel for the Anubis archeological dig, a Bazooka and two shells to take some shots at Turu the Terrible, a .45, Luger and sheathed Bowie knife for Race. Additionally, I even a "floating rope trick" for Hadji on ebay.

I sent Brad and Terry some photos of the figures and accessories with a polite request that one of them post them on this thread.:smile2:

I see Terry has posted, so thanks 'bro :wink2:

Dog came out very nice.

Now, Louis says this is for his son but I'm beginning to wonder.......^&grin

One of the photos wouldn't upload properly. On investigation, I found encripted message. Louis son Alec is being held prisoner in his room while daddy builds his Jonny Quest empire {eek3} - for what purpose we do not know. Reports from Chicago hinted that Louis was possessed by a strange force and spoke of Jonny Quest frequently. The encrypted message was an appeal to Jonny Quest to rescue Alec so he can play with the Jonny Quest figures - all of them ^&grin^&grin

Thanks Terry!:smile2: By the way, Alec and Ashley were fighting over which one got to play with which of these action figures this afternoon, they really do love them.:wink2:
