If anybody has any better pictures of this...

the beautiful Gordon at Khartoum diorama made by TM terrain...

I would sure appreciate you're posting them here...

I just got the small stairwell diorama and figures today and would like to take a shot at building a full scale one like theirs...using theirs as a model...

I have a lot of leftover polystyrene from the last fort I built and would like to try to make one as similar to theirs as possible...

but I'm having a really hard time trying to copy it from the pictures I found...as they don't give much in detail or anything under the eaves...I'm basically guessing at the dimensions...but I think I am pretty close so far...

so if anyone has anymore pictures...I would sure appreciate your sharing them...

I asked John for the color paint he used...that TM terrain matched...and I asked him what he used for texture...but I know he is busy with the show and his family and has not responded to my emails...

so I'm winging it on my own...so any help on some pictures would really be appreciated...

what I'm showing is pretty raw...seams showing...no texture yet...just barely making a dent in starting it...but I think I can do this...

Thanks Mike for giving me this interesting site to view. Lots of items I would love, thankfully they are in gloss which is not my cup of tea.Hopefully more ideas for John here. Cheers, Robin.

Mike,

I took these at the March show this year. I think you must have all the photos that were taken then.

Looking forward to seeing your version.:)

Mike,

I had posted photos for Louis earlier this year. It may take awhile but you should be able to find them. Also, maybe you could contact him and he could take some additional photos for you. I will also look for the photos he sent me. If I do I will contact you.

Regards,

Mike,

A few more photos from the March show. The last one shows the basic building being used in a Darkest Africa wargame.

Mike

I believe that Louis Badalato bought one of these from TM terrain.
You might check with him.

Randy

Here are the pics Louis forwarded me back in June for posting. I had to reduce them somewhat so if you want the originals, please send me your email.

Robin...you're not off the hook yet...you can always spray the "glossies" with Krylon matte finish and make them mattes...hehehe...spray available anywhere and it works perfect for converting from glossy...

Jeff....thank you...that is exactly what I'm looking for...clear crisp sharp pictures that show the detail of everything all in one photo...I can print out the pictures you sent me and lay them on the table where I work...I can already see my gate is too short and the arch is totally different...so I will have to re-do it...but thanks for the great photos...

Brad...I appreciate it...but I think the photos Louis took...that you posted for him...are the photos I'm using...the ones Jeff posted should do the trick...they are very crisp...but thank you for your effort...

Randy...the ones Jeff posted are more than sufficient...thanks for your tips though...

Mike, would you like me to email you the originals, these are reduced in size to suit the forum.

Jeff

thanks to everybody for the pics...I got some work done today...it was mostly fixing all the things I did wrong in scale from the tiny dark pictures I started with...the pics Jeff emailed me are a Godsend...large and clear...

but I got a little stuff done too just beside fixing...I'm still hoping JJ will respond to my email about the texture and the color pretty soon...

here's an update...I'm not unhappy with anything yet...

ps...I know it looks pretty rough and pretty raw right now...but the texture will hide all the seams and cracks...

I want to try to copy this top picture...as close as I can but add 3 doors like the second one...and the little piece of railing like the third photo...not sure which version I like for the overhead front of the gate...maybe I'll make my own....

Mike,

You don't hang about! This is going to be  to see you work your magic. Glad the photos were of some use. :)

Jeff

Mike where do you find all the space for your dioramas? :D But anyway...it sure does look awesome!!

Titus

Thanks a lot you guys, I got an email into John trying to get the exact color combination and type of paint he used on the exterior and the wooden doors and banisters...I really don't want to repaint his stairwell and kill it's JJ authenticity...so I'm at a standstill right now...but it's cool...:D...today is a golf day...no working on dioramas...

I may play around with some texturing techniques when I get home......I should wait for John's guidance...but I'm sooooo impatient...

Mike you are extremely quick at making your structures. As usual it's great.
