Rob,

Nope. It wasn't any of those. I'm going to try and past your photo here. If it doesn't show here, it is one of the pictures you took early in this thread. The guy looks like he has on a turban.

Rob,

Okay. The pasting the photo didn't work. Here is where your photo is. Your entry number 25 on this string. It is the photo on the left. The bottom shelf shown in that photo. The mounted figure on the far left. Turban kind of hat and sword in the air.

Thanks.

Dan

You can't paste photos. You should copy it in into your computer and then post it as you would do with any photo.

London Bridge has just received a shipment of the latest sets from Imperial Productions.

It is so exciting to unwrap a brand new Imperial figure - especially when they are purchased sight unseen. I think that has always been my favorite part of my parents' collection. Well, that and the mini-history lessons that come with each set.

Anyway, there are ten figures from the new Town and Around series that is focused on the First Empire. They are stunning in their detail and colors. Vandilay has posted some pics of a few of these and Ron at London Bridge has asked us to take photos of them for their website. As soon as that is accomplished, I will post a link.

Also, there are two new sets of British Hussars, also posted recently by Vandilay. As most have said, they are quite nice also. It never ceases to amaze me that men once went into battle clad thusly.

So, another fine collection of figures from Mr. Cowe. I am so glad that he and his family have decided to continue to create these masterpieces, even if the output is far more limited.

Cheers,
Drum

The good thing about being clad thusly is that most of them were clad thusly. No skulking about heathen like.

I thought it was a little quite on the glossy front ,so heres a couple
of recent arrivals .The first shots are Te Maori series and the last
is Gilbert Mair and the arawa flying column .
The following is the small write up with a bit of history from inside the lid.

In 1870 ,to counter the guerilla tactics of Hauhau leader te kooti and
His allies ,a special unit of maori loyal to the crown was raised and
Became the Arawa flying column, armed constabulary, consisting of two
Companies of 100 arawa tribesman.

Gilbert Mair already experienced in the wars, was chosen to lean no 1
Arawa flying column to persue Te Kooti in the rugged bush clad terrain
Of the urewera region.

In febuary 1870 when Te Kooti and his force was about to attack
Rotorua ,Mair interecepted just in time to prevent the probable massacre of Arawa inhabitants .In a 20 mile running fight he inflicted heavy casualties on the raiders
And shot Te Kootis notorious lieutenant. For this action Mair was promoted to
Captain and Earned the New Zealand cross.

The continual harrying of Te kooti and the remnants of his supporters ended
With the last shots of the urewera campaign and the North island wars on 14 th febuary 1872.

The New Zealand cross was awarded to Gilbert Mair on 1 st april 1886.
This decoration was unique to New Zealand and only awarded to colonial troops
For gallantry during the secound “Maori “ wars.
Equivilant to the victoria cross,a total of 23 awards were made

Is the Gilbert set NZ11? It looks as if they may have gotten some new painting detail to their kilts since they were released as #11 back in 1996.

Gotta get that set.

The Te Maoris are cool, but their action poses leave a little bit to be desired, imho. I wish I knew more about these campaigns.

Thanks for the pics.

Hi Drum

Your marines at tripoli set is up on our local auction site at present

I have been able to confirm these ID's with David Cowe (with my thanks to Vandilay for the assist) and so I am quite certain that these are now correctly organized under their set numbers.

Cheers,
