I saw a pictures several years ago of one of Gordon's iconic dioramas that he made for Louis Badolato. As I had a pretty large collection of AfriKa Korps, I decided to build my own version which was a bit larger and that I showed at last years Chicago show. Gordon (and Andy) have always been very generous in giving me and others tips and tricks on building these, which turn collections into the 3-D pictures in time that many of you have. This one is 3' x 6' and took about 3 months to build.

Looks very good. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :smile2:

Thanks for posting Pat, was a real treat to see that awesome display.

Pat,
You have a marvelous AK collection!:salute::

Mate that is brilliant Pat you must be proud as might give something like that a go so versatile thank you very much for posting, gonna steal a pic or two for reference.

Fantastic structure, so interesting. There are many series that fit very comfortably into this format if you ever get tired of AK. Very similar to the K&C dio many years ago, but the extra size gives plenty of potential. Really well done, good on you. Robin.

Pat,

You did a great job!:salute:: You can come see the original in person next weekend at the Symposium.^&cool

Thanks Wayne. If you want to give your own version a try, I have 2 sources that you might look at. Both give step by step tips on how I built this. The first is Toy Soldier and model magazine issue 234 from last year and the second is my website www.Gallaghersgallery.com, in the tips and tricks section, both of which I outline the steps I took, and planning and materials I used to construct this. Its really not that hard-its more an engineering and construction challenge than anything else. Also feel free to contact me (my contact info is on my site) and I'm happy to give you any tips or techniques for your own version.

Thanks Louis-I actually have seen yours, which was the inspiration and catalyst for building mine-I was at your soiree 2 years ago when I saw your incredible collection, including this dio. I would love to come again, but am nursing a broken foot and its tough to travel for the next 2 months. Your participants will love your collection and your gracious wifes hosting acumen......

This looks great, I've always admired Louis' original from afar, this looks very impressive too !
Congratulations.

Fantastic work Pat, simply extraordinary! But if I was already impressed by what I saw here, I almost couldn’t believe my eyes when I entered your website! Congratulations, you are a very talented artist!
