It Has Been An Honor (1 Viewer)

Richard,

I am sorry to hear that you are leaving W Britain; the toy soldier hobby will not be the same without you. Here is wishing you every success in your new endeavor.

Mike

the toy soldier community has lost an icon with you leaving...you have been one of the hardest working, most engaging and committed people in this industry...it will be hard to replace your epic dioramas and personality at the shows...I think you have done so much to further this hobby and I'm sorry to see you leave...good luck with your future endeavours...

First of all a class act with a passion for both the product & its customers. I just recently had the opportunity to meet Richard at the Toronto OMS TS show in September. Hopefully Britians does not follow what happened to his last employer ie Corgi. I miss my Corgi tanks and soldiers. Best wishes Jay

Richard,

Even though we have never met, just from the responses in this thread it's clear to me that you were thought of very highly in the TS world. I have a small collection of various Britains figures/scenery and have enjoyed them the last few years that I've been collecting. You have made a quality product at an affordable price to boot. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Richard,

You will be missed and I will miss saying hello to you at shows but you left Britain's in a much better condition than when you found it.

Best of luck in your new opportunity.

Regards,

Brad

Richard, over the years that I have known you, you have been a constant gentleman and friend. I have always enjoyed your company, at shows, in Madison, and in my home. You took the helm of Wm Britian and made it the respected company that it is today. Your demand for detail and historical accuracy has always been a hallmark of your time there with Wm. Britain. You will most certainly be missed by myself and manmany, many other collectors of toy soldiers. I wish you nothing but the best and success in your new opportunity . . . . no one deserves it more than you. All the very best . . . . .
Your friend,
:smile2: Mike

All the very best to a true Gentleman. Many thanks for all your help. :salute::

certainly seems that a few companies could do with your skills in the Toy soldier industry.
Best Wishes
Mitch

Hi Richard,

although I do not collect Britains, or know you personally I have heard many a nice comments about you and what you have done with W.Britain Company to move forward after some tough times, congrats on all the great things you accomplished with Britains and good luck in whatever you choose to do in the future...Sammy

I am very sad, through this Forum I knew a real Manager, a real Gentleman and a true Friend.
Grazie Richard per la tua gentile disponibilità e grande competenza, auguri per le tue prossime imprese,
Carlo

Richard,
I would also like to wish you luck in the future. While I hate to see you leave WB , I do understand other opportunities arise and people must move on. What you have accomplished in the last 8 years has restarted a company that I did not purchase from , to one that I couldn't wait to get to the room at Chicago.

You have always went out of the way to fill special orders for me , fix any problems and ensure the customers happiness. I have trouble believing that the passion that you showed as general manger will continue without you at the helm.

As I look over the 1000+ pieces that I have purchased over the last 8 years with the Britain's stamp on them I look at your leaving with a touch of sadness , however without you I doubt I would have the collection I now own.

Thank you and good luck.
Chuck Challans

Richard,

I hope & trust you will still be involved with this business/hobby in some capacity and that you will be seen at various shows since your toy soldier roots go back to your childhood. That being said, I wish you the very best wherever you may end up landing. You are ALL-PRO in my book!

Keep The Blue Side Up!
Marc

Richard

This news is as awful as the death of Matthew Crawley in the last few seconds of the finale of season 3 of Downton Abbey only moments after leaving a radiant Lady Mary and son George at the hospital.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of the W. Britain family as an author for the Standard. I learned a lot and have enjoyed the assignments that you have sent my way.

You will always be W. Britain to so many of us collectors and I wish you the best for you and your family.

Randy

Randy, that was a spoiler! :)

I have met Richard a couple of times and was always extremely impressed. I re-started collecting toy soldiers when he joined Britains and can attest to the resurgence of Britains as a serious manufacturer of quality toy soldiers under Richard (and Ken, of course).

I wish you and your family All the Very Best, Andreas

Richard!!!!!!!

Man, I am going to miss your insights as Head of Britains! What a great job you have done and what a true loss to Britains. I echo Mike's and Brad's comments. Hopefully we will catch up soon!

Tom

Richard,

I met you twice at shows. You are the epitome of courtesy and service. And you impressed the heck out of my wife (not an easy thing to do, trust me) by sending a thank you card after a show. I hope your new opportunity realizes what a great gain they made. Best of luck!

Richard I hold you responsible for my Zulu addiction . With you at the helm of WB you have made some great improvements with sculpt and direction with all your series. Take care mate and I hope the new guy does as well as you have done. Chris.

I have only met Richard once, at last years December London show where we had a great chat about ideas for the future releases for the WAN range and I can't add any more than what has already been said by my fellow collectors - but what a loss for WBritains - sad day!

Chris mentioned above that Richard was responsible for his Zulu collection, I have similar feelings about the War Along the Nile range that I have.

But we can't be selfish and so Richard I wish you and your family all the best for the future - the privilege of meeting you was all mine.

Jeff :salute:: :salute::
