I finished installing this display area yesterday afternoon and I will be using it to exclusively display my JJD Great War and Knights of the Sky collection. The shelving system is actually a closet organizer kit made by EASY TRACK. It is 48" high and 96" wide and each shelf is 14" deep. The center section of shelves is 24" wide and the L & R section of shelves are each 36" wide. I have two more 36" shelves on order which will complete the unit as I originally had intended. I purchased this system from a local DIY home store (Menard's) but I also know it is available at the Home Depot (under the Martha Stewart Living brand) and also from Amazon. This morning I spent some time placing my fledgling collection to date on their new home.

Overall view of the display area with my small JJD collection. In the foreground is a portion of my 4-foot x 8-foot ACW diorama table with mostly WB ACW figure sets and scenics

Shelf area reserved for future British Aerodrome w/hanger display

JASTA 11 "Dawn Patrol"

French display on a 24-inch shelf . . . . Based on what will be released in the near future I think this will be moved to a 36-inch shelf

Very impressive. Please post more pictures as your collection develops!

Looking really good, Mike. The shelves provide a nice, bright base to display from. They look versatile as well. Good job. -- Al

Thank you Al. EASY TRACK provides this system in a number of colors and wood tones but I decided on WHITE so it would blend in with the wall it is mounted on and to show off the models better. As far as versatility goes, the top and bottom shelf in each section are fixed in place . . . . the rest are adjustable, allowing flexibility in moving shelves up or down depending on display requirements and also for adding additional shelves as needed as the collection expands . . . .

Nice collection and I envy all that shelf-space. Fill it with abandon!{sm3}

Looks great Mike. Where are the trench sections? I know they won't fit on the shelves. Chris

Looking forward to the pics of this filling up,great set up cobber.

Chris, my WB WWI trench sections are on a 30" x 72" table on the opposite side of the room from these display shelves. Even at 30" deep, I still had to move the table out 2" from the wall for the trenches to fit . . . . they are really deep and require a lot of space . . . .

How good is this, plenty of room for future releases, all orderly and nicely displayed. As each item arrives over the next 6 months, you will have the pleasure of adding to each shelf. There is a lot to be said sticking to one series/maker and doing it well. Keep us posted on updates. :salute::, Robin.

Why thankyou very much Robin . . . . . I will be updating all my additions on this thread as the acquisitions are made . . . . .

beautiful shelving unit Michael...

it's gonna cost a lot of money to fill all those slots...^&grin

fledgling...hahaha...

Great looking display Mike! When you got started in JJD WWI, you seriously got started!

Got a couple of items in the mail yesterday afternoon. ACE-17(S) Albatros DIII "Blaue Maus" and a medium stand B that I needed for one of my JASTA 11 Tripes. The Blaue Maus is exceptionally nice and quite a beautiful model. Here it is on the shelf as well as my JASTA 11 patrol which are now all off the "ground" . . . . .

Fokker Dr1 Dawn Patrol from JASTA 11, L-R: ACE-19 (Weiss), ACE-21 (Steinhauser), ACE-01 (Von Richthofen, The Red Baron)

Mike, the tripes look great on patrol. I have my Jasta 11 tripes all on the same shelf together but they are all grounded for lack of petrol, at the moment. The stands really are a versatile option. I also really like the white shelf and background as this allows the aircraft and all the detail to be plainly visible. I have mine on oak wood shelves and the planes just don't show as well against the dark background. Your models are well highlighted. -- Al

I also have the ACE-05 Fokker Dr1 (Lothar Von Richthofen) but it too is grounded. As I understand from some of my research, Lothar never flew with his brother so I thought it would be fitting to make his Tripe part of my aerodrome ground display. I am also very pleased with my color choise of white for the shelving unit . . . . I could have gotten the shelving in BLACK, OAK, or CHERRY but thought that the WHITE would be better for actually showing off the models.

Mike, looks really good and the white shelves on the white wall makes your collection really stand out. Definitely something that I should look into at some point in time. Chris

Delivery days are wonderful . . . . Delivered to my door step this morning were JJD BGC-10 British Hanger, BGC-11 Painter, BGC-14 Two Mechanics at Work, BGC-15 Mechanic w/Accessories, BGC-16 "Refueling the Camel", and BGC-17 Mechanic and RFC Tail/Skid Dolly. All are very nicely done and I am more than pleased with the way they display. The shelf they are on has more than enough room on it for another hanger. BGC-01 Ford Model-T Ambulance shown in photos is also a new arrival . . . . .

My German Aerodrome shelf display is really taking shape. Yesterday I received GGC-05 (Painters), GGC-07 (Mechanic on Ladder), GGC-08 (Mechanic), GGC-09 (Mechanic in shirt sleeves), and GGC-10 (German Hanger). Below are a few photos of the shelf display using the new arrivals . . . . .

Outstanding dio. The use of the ground crew just looks so natural. Love the grouping around the D-7.:salute:: -- Al
