We are approaching that time of year again! I've decided to start this thread prior to the official start in case anyone had any questions. We'll have a little recap of last year leading up to the 2017 Hunt!

Next week we enjoy a long weekend of nothing but Toy Soldiers at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Schaumburg, IL.
Along with the fun and comraderie of the entire weekend we also have the John Jenkins Designs Annual Treasure Hunt!!!
This year boasts a docket of 8 Treasure Hunt stops with the likes of Treefrog Treasures, Minutemen TS, Hobby Bunker, Sierra, Crown Miniatures, Toy Trains & More with Tim Tyler & Julie Abraham as roving stops you have to find.
RULES:
1 - You have to find each Dealer, pick up a Question Form at your first stop. Then ask to see our Prototype and then answer the question provided at each stop!
2 - Once you have filled out the answers on all 8 stops you then turn in your completed form to the Dealer of your choice whose Prototype you would like to win!
3 – Dealers all draw the name of their winner and email information to John.
4 – List is compiled and once complete we will announce all the winners on this thread! Dealers are in charge of shipping their item to the winner.

Easy as pie, right?

There was lots of fun on the “Treasure Hunting” in 2016. My “Little Julie” figure went on a few adventures during the course of the weekend….all in good fun!
Attendees should plan on joining in the fun and those who are unable to attend can watch this thread to see how the Treasure Hunt unfolds.

"X" marks the spot as the sleuthing begins -- speculation as to who will have what treasures this year???

One never knows what may happen while wandering this hotel in September.....
Happy Hunting!

Our first flashback to 2016 is a stop in to see George and his Crossley Tender!
George-2016.jpgBGC-29.jpg

It has since been released as BGC-29 Crossley Tender and available if you have not already picked this little beaut up!
For the record, I can only sell the Truck, not the man {sm3}

Are we ready for Flashback #3? Too bad if you are not!!!

Tom with Richard's assistance hooked up all the chains for the Conestoga Wagon shown in the Treefrog Room.

Since Tom did such a bang up job on this intricate piece last year, this year he gets a full blown TRANSFORMER prototype to take care of! Who is excited to find out what range and what this piece could possibly be? Just you wait and see....

BAL-10.jpg

In case you missed it when this came out earlier this year you can pick it up from our store any time!
BAL-10 and the 3 sets of BAL-03 Cart Horses you need to create this entire 'look'.

In my opinion, John does some of the best horses in the biz.

Tom is not in this photo but he is also "Not For Sale". I have stuck a flag in him, he is mine ^&grin

Julie

Today's Flashback is Tim Tyler and his Ladies!
As Tim won't be able to attend this year due to Hurricane Irma flooding out Jacksonville we will just have to remember him & his smile in spirit :D
Tim-2016.jpg
(Anyone spot the "no smoking" symbol above Tim's head....hehehehehehehe)
RFB-05A.jpgRFB-05B.jpg

The "Girls with Guns" came in 2 paint variants as you can see above and are now available!
RFB-05B - Girls with Guns #2
RFB-05WA - Girls with Guns #1

Don't miss out on adding these ladies to your dioramas! They can take care of themselves, no men required!

Tomorrow will be our last trip down memory lane until the new Hunt is upon us!

If I was in the photo, it would be PRICELESS! Looking forward to the Transformer, "More than Meets the Eye", now I will have that song stuck in my head forever!!!

Almost all packed up and leaving in the morning!
Tracked the shipment of JJD Treasure Hunt items and they have arrived at the Hyatt! Now to just make sure they don't deliver it to the wrong person within the hotel again....thinking positive!

But my final Flashback will be my favorite figure from last year - my "Little Julie" figure of course!!!
I love this happy little girl with her pup -- I love the grey prototype and when the painted version came out in January I loved it, too!
This figure went on many adventures in and out of the hotel last year - out to dinner and drinks, coffee runs in the lobby, Trader Joes and more!

You will be able to pick her (RSF-32) up and any of the other Woodland Indian friends and Lacrosse players in our room this weekend!
If you decide to start the hunt this year....beware of "Little Julie #2"!

Very soon the Treasure Hunting Fun will begin - see you all soon and those who are unable to attend, watch this Thread as I will post throughout the weekend!

Julie

Far too sweet and young to be in and out of hotels drinking, this little Julie is destined for the rocks^&grin, Robin.

LET THE TREASURE HUNT GAMES BEGIN!
I have dispersed all the treasures, and taken photos of almost everything. Now time to start the hunting!
One little edit as Tim Tyler was unable to make the show due to the Hurricane so I have tapped Larry Weindorf of For the Historian to take his place as a Treasure Hunt stop.

During dispersal today I had George open his set right away for our photo op!
My dear G had the upcoming World War I Gallipoli Campaign figures!
Question: Billy Sing was the most famous Australian Sniper at Gallipoli.

Who was the Famous Turkish Sniper?
  • Abdul the Terrible
  • Mustafa Kebab
  • Kaiser Soze

FullSizeRender-L.jpgIMG_2694-L.jpg

As you can all see, George packed a different shirt than last year! Big smile is always the same ^&grin

Julie

Abdul the Terrible who was killed by Sing when they had each other in their sights and Sing fired first.

George, why were you wearing a Chelsea shirt last year and a Newcastle United shirt this year  Do you always wear a football shirt at the Chicago show?
:)

One more quick post for today!
Easy one - Tom and his "Transformer" Vought F4U Corsair!!! Tom is modelling this aircraft better than Vanna can turn letters I think.
This upcoming JJD Corsair can be displayed with wings down or up - magnets at work! Pacemaker wearers beware...
You can display this on one of the Aircraft Carrier Bases with the wings plugged into the raised position. Opt to display it with the wings down and use 2 bases to showcase this beautiful bird! (I am biased, the Corsair is my fav airplane )
The Undercarriage is also interchangeable and the model can be displayed on any of the Flight Stands.
Expect this beaut in 2018 - First up will be another US carrier plane.

Question:
Why were the Corsair Wings moveable?
  • The plane could fit inside the aircraft carrier.
  • Wings were originally designed to flap, to aid the plane if the fuel ran out.
  • They were designed to help the plane sink faster if shot down near enemy ships to avoid capture.

Epic Pete PHOTOBOMB!

No fun happening in the TF room at all....

Julie

I hope Julie doesn't mind if I add to her thread but here are the Roman fortifications in Crown's room.
